I've had my Ford Fusion se ecoboost 1. 5, 2014 in for service on 2 separate occasions a day apart for the same reoccurring problems. The first service there was the actions done related to recalls which are consistent with 20s15 a-c and recall 23e03 b. The reasons for my Ford Fusion 1. 5 to have been brought to the premier Ford, waveland, ms was as follows: the temperature overheat lamp light was jared, there was 3 leaks from the overheat, there was a shutter and sounds that came from the engine, (limp*)and there was no fuel power through acceleration. There had been moisture located on exhaust before brakedown without having been driven for approximately 10hrs before brakedown. 2ed service was as follows: temperature overheat lamp light jared, no power through fuel to accelerate, and issues starting. Limp* I had not on this brakedown paid attention to if my Fusion needed water, the engines performance in regards to shakes or sounds nor did I look to notice nor did I look for leaks. I called directly to premier Ford, waveland and had my Ford towed in. The service was as follows: 1) 3u2z*14s411 wpt988 wire asy 2) ds7z*8501*e pw556 pumpasp-water 3) be8z*8507*a gasket-water pump 4)g 3801132 anti-freeze 5) 6 bm5z*6k2543*s437 screw 6) bm5z*6k254*a tensioner - timing belt with the parts 261. 44 labor 1748. 99 misc charges 50. 00 for a total of after taxes 2204. 66 I picked up my Ford Fusion on October 4, 2024 and on October 9, 2024 I went beck to the premier Ford and spoke with the service department because I had to stop and let my Fusion cool every 20 to 30 minutes, I stated that there was some loss of water and it was overheating, the power train light warning notify me of an issue, and that my Fusion would not go over 80miles per hr. The service department associate seemed frustrated with me and argued the fact that it had ran hot and said that the reason for the speed issue was that the lamp was identifying the keylock complete on pdf.

I began to hear a scrapping noise in the engine compartment. I took the car to have the oil changed and was told that I needed to have the transmission fluid changed and it was a closed system and only Ford would be able to do this. I took my car to knox Ford where I purchased it and had them change the transmission fluid and diagnose the problem. I was told that the water pump was bad and needed replaced. After investigating I found that this was timing driven and again only Ford could do this repair. I took the car in the night before and they quoted me 672. 00 for the repair. I was told this would take 4. 5 hours to complete. At 5pm the following day I picked up my vehicle only to find out they had just finished it. I was told then that it took longer because the original water pump was discontinued because Ford knew the part was bad. They continued to tell me that they had to research how to cut the wires that were no longer needed and install the new water pump. V.

After my cooling system recall was repaired, I kept having to add coolant to the system. I reported this to Ford and went back for them to check it. I was told it wasn't any leaks. So a year later I am still adding coolant when it gets low. I filled up the coolant on a Wednesday. On Saturday at about 2 am I came out and saw something had leaked on the ground, I though it was water because I had the air on. I started driving home on a city street and my car suddenly spikes to overheats and stalls out. I pulled over and waited and then added some coolant. When I poured it in the reservoir it leaked out right on the ground like the reservoir had a crack in it. I had the car towed to my home and had a mechanic come and look at it. He took the reservoir out and filled it with water. It didn't have a crack. He then did more investigating and found that the water pump went bad needed to be replaced. I had the car towed to the Ford dealer, thinking my extended warranty was still in place. Once towed the Ford dealer said that I was 836 miles over the extended warranty and would have to pay $1460. 00 for the repair. Needless to say I didn't have the repair done. I asked the dealer if the coolant recall would have anything to do with the water pump going bad. They said it was all connected but not part of the recall. I asked even though I was having an issue with the coolant since the recall was done. And they said yes, Ford did not have the water pump as part of any recall.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the driver was driving 40 mph, there was an odor of burning wires that was emitted through the vehicle vent. The driver coasted to the side of the road, pop the vehicle hood and noticed smoke and flame was coming from the engine compartment. A person came and extinguished the fire. The fire department also extinguished the fire and file a report. There was no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed tow yard and then to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed and informed the contact that the water pump, the heads crack due to the extreme heat that spill out oil which cause the fire. The water pump the pulley and heads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and was not taken to a dealer. Manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Aw.
I bought the car new. Several month's ago I heard water sloshing check engine light came on, overheating light along with many others. The car shut off on a very busy highway almost caused me to get from behind. The car was not overheating. Replaced water pump, coil pack, plugs, several sensors. Ddreover again veh shut off samething. Took to shop #1 found coolant in the engine crack block. Now its at Ford dealership diagnosed samee as shop #1. Called Ford they stated nothing they will do. Forrdd expert said several has been reported but no recall yet.
My car's odometer reads 49,343 miles and the water pump has already failed. I believe this part may be defective.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. After leaving the office and walking to the vehicle, the contact heard music playing in the vehicle even though the keys were on her person and the vehicle was still locked. Additionally, on occasion, the air conditioner, lighting, and radio would activate independently with the ignition in the off position and the doors locked. The vehicle was taken to koons Ford of baltimore (located at 6970 security blvd, windsor mill, MD 21244, (410) 298-3800) where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced due to severe battery drainage. Also, the water pump needed to be replaced. The battery and water pump were replaced, and the power train control module was updated; however, the failures recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 69,084. The VIN was not available.
Loud noise from passenger side of engine compartment came out of nowhere when we started the car on thanksgiving day. We took the car to our local mechanic which is 2 miles from our home. He diagnosed the problem immediately as a bad water pump but was confused as to why the water pump would go bad at only 77k miles. When he went to order the part he found out that the existing water pump had been discontinued and replaced by a water pump that no longer used the electronics that the original water pump used. Ford (from local dealership)techs explained that the existing wires should just be cut and shrinkwrapped as they were no longer needed. He also learned that to do the install of the newer version water pump that the timing belt would need to be adjusted and a special timing kit would be needed. This repair actually involved removing the right side axle to use the special timing kit. I can find no recall on the original water pump even though it has been discontinued and replaced with an entirely different part. I was informed that this is not under warranty and a phone complaint with Ford corporate was filed today. Ford refused to give me any information on why the pump was discontinued and offered no help in covering this week long expensive repair. My local mechanic explained that this is not only recall worthy but a safety hazard and I should report it to you immediately.
My vehicle was moving in a parking lot when the engine suddenly began to misfire and stalled. The Ford dealership told me the engine suffered a catastrophic failure. This happened without warning. All maintenance was preformed on time or ahead of schedule. This catastrophic failure happened with less than 100,000 miles. Ford would not cover this under warranty. From what research I have found this is a common problem with Fords 3. 5 liter cyclone engines. The water pump failes resulting in catastrophic engine failure. If this problem would occur at highway speeds no power steering or brakes would be operable, possibly resulting in accidents. This is an unacceptable situation!, not to mention a costly repair bill. Thank you for your consideration on this matter.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to receive a recall repair. In addition, the vehicle kept overheating and stalling. The contact had to coast the vehicle to the side of the road due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics where it was diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The dealer (bob hurley Ford, 745 west 51st, tulsa, ok 74107, 918-445-6700) stated that the part was unavailable and did not know when it would arrive. The dealer did not diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was not available. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Just had the water pump replaced on the vehicle for the 3rd or 4th time now. Vehicle has always been loosing coolant since I bought it. They have replaced the block heater just about as many times also. They never really seem to be able to figure out where its coming from and I'm quite concerned that no one seems to actually have it figured out. First problem was at 20,000 miles, 50,000 miles, 80,000 miles and 131,000 miles. There is a recall for coolant leaking onto the exhaust and starting a fire but I'm still being told that there is no fix for that issue yet. I was notified back in March of 2017 about that issue.
On way to work I on the morning of 10-12-17 going about 75mph on interstate and all the sudden there was a ding and flash of red (check engine light) on the dashboard stating engine overheating and engine shut down and car basically went into neutral. I lost all power, radio, lights etc. With the momentum I had built up going 75 I was able to make it across the 4 lanes to the shoulder. An ohio state trooper stopped to assist and was dumb founded when he say there was no power, the car would not turn on. I called the dealership spoke with jay and advised that car was being towed in. Service department at Ford is stating that it's a safety feature to stop fire from happening, but honestly how safe is to have the engine and all electrical power completely shut down on interstate. It was a matter of seconds between ding, light and loss of power. Car was towed in using my aaa membership on a flatbed to liberty Ford in brunswick, ohio. I was advised later that day that it was the water pump and had nothing to do with the sensor that was recalled. I had to use pto for work on Thursday and car was ready for pick up on 10-13-17 around lunch time. On 10-13-17 I had to leave work early to get to dealership before they closed at 6pm otherwise I would be charged $50. 00 for the loaner if returned on Saturday morning. I picked up my car and it cost me @$107. 00 for the deductible since they are stating it had nothing to do with the recall and that it was the water pump. On the afternoon of 10-14-17 (@ 12:30-12:45pm) driving in medina area on way to event with niece in the car the check engine light came on again. See attached for full complaint and docs.
Had issue with the water pump going out - received a quick computer warning stating that the car overheated; then another computer warning letting me know the car would switched to a very very low power-had no warning. Luckily I wasn't on the highway when this happened - I was lucky if the car was going 1 mile/hour. Was on a 2 lane city street. I was turning around in a restaurant parking lot - once I got on the road it happened within seconds.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 40 mph attempting to stop at a red light, the engine coolant warning indicator illuminated and then dimmed. The contact continued driving and the warning indicator illuminated again; however, this time the vehicle lost acceleration and eventually stalled. The contact coasted the vehicle to the road shoulder to a complete stop. The contact noticed that the coolant in the reservoir was empty. After adding coolant, the vehicle did not start. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the water pump may be the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 17s090000 (engine). The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Without warning, driving highway speeds we lost power. Got the car started again and realized there was no heat, then noticed the temperature gauge was on hot. The battery light, check engine light and wrench light turned on. We eventually had to be towed at a cost of $460. The master mechanic identified the water pump cracked, then resealed itself and coolant mixed with the oil which killed the engine. He said there would have not been any warning and this issue has been seen before and is catastrophic. We now have to replace the engine at a cost of $8000. There are forums online with other Fusion owners experiencing the same issue but no recognition or recall from Ford. I have had issues with this car since the day I bought it. I had to have my electronic throttle body replaced twice, also not a recall by Ford but a customer satisfaction program. I guess they are ok with having cars literally turning off at highway speeds before they fix the issues.

Car is equipped with 1. 6 echoboost issue started last year car powered down for no reason dealer could not find problem. Ford changed water pump at this time stating recall even though at this time I explained could smell antifreeze. Car began to act up again changed spark plugs only to have one stick fixed problem at my expense Ford explained never heard of this issue which is nonsense according to the numerous complaints noted online. Got car back same day check engine light came on Ford said it was fuel sensor which I paid. Next week check engine light came back on finally dealer smelled antifreeze even though this has been brought to there attention. Ford does not want to cover items even though this was a certified used car and has 65000 miles still under 100000 mile warranty. I was driving car when it stalled both times in winter when temps were below freezing. Antifreeze did not leak in garage I did explain I noted moisture when changing plugs located around head.
Water pump in my 2010 Ford Fusion sport (3. 5 liter v6 engine) failed, causing severe engine damage and sudden overheating. The vehicle was in motion on a city street when I noticed the temperature gauge rising quickly to the top. I had to pull over immediately. The car only had 54,000 miles on the odometer and had been well maintained with documented regular oil changes and periodic maintenance performed at the dealership.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed antifreeze on the ground. The dealer diagnosed that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
While driving I noticed the temp gauge was on high. No warning lights preceding this and now low coolant alarm. Turned a corner to pull off and before I could, check engine light came on and engine shuddered to a stop causing me to loose steering and brakes. With no warning enabling me to either check the car out, or safely get off the road. The water pump which is inside the engine failed. It has contaminated the oil now requiring an entire new engine. On searching google for the Ford 3. 5l v6 engine this appears to be a huge problem with these engines and its design. I cant imagine what would happen should it fail without warning at highway speeds.
First problem with the car was having problems with first starting it in the morning with it acting as if it wasnt getting gas until I stepped on the accelerator while in park, dealership claimed it was a cracked water pump. Then the check engine light came on while driving, they replaced head gasket and intake gasket due to the code from the check engine light. Then the car stopped accelerating on the interstate and when I pulled over and turned it off it made loud cracking noises and wouldnt start. Dealership says a piece underneath the water pump fell off they believe it was defective because the bolt was half the size it was suppose to be and ruined the engine. First problems started in may until most recent one in sept.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. While driving at any speed, the vehicle overheated and shut off. The vehicle was pushed to the side of the road and restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a leak in the cooling system. The cooling system was cleaned and the water pump was replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the battery was replaced, but the failure recurred and the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer. The technician replaced the coolant valve and reprogrammed the computer system. A few months later, the engine vibrated when the air conditioner was activated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the air conditioning compressor was replaced. The failure recurred and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the technician replaced the solenoid, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 17,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle stalled, overheated, and the transmission and check engine warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle on some occasions. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the water pump and the power train needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the check engine warning light illuminated again. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 40,000.
I had just ha the oil changed at the Ford dealership in morrow, GA. Who always do and inspection to see if there are other services needed, which they found no one. Two weeks later on my way home the engine ran hot. As it turns out the water pump had failed because of plastic impellers that are in the workmanship. Call Ford in detroit to inquire and they informed me that there was no recall because of the problem. I'm not sure if other owners have had the same failure with this car or not, but I would like to know.
