This vehicle has had multiple heater/ac fan motor inoperative problems. Without the blower fan working there is no defrost or ability to clear the windshield, resulting in reduced or no visibility. The first repair was Aug 18th, 2016. Mileage was 36110. A heater control assembly was replaced at a cost of $426. 05. The second repair was Aug 29th, 2016. The mileage was 36251. The blower resistor wiring to the fan assembly was replaced for $371. 27. The third repair was Jul 12th, 2018. Mileage was 46594. The blower motor was replaced along with the same wiring done at the second repair for $618. 98. Ford would not help with the cost of any repairs. After reading Ford Fusion forums on the internet, this problem appears to be common. This is a safety issue as the windshield can fog up quickly in winter or summer, and icing can build up in winter causing loss of visibility. It is dangerous to try to clear the windshield while the car is in motion. I think this problem should be considered for a recall. I have the invoices to send if needed but no access to a scanner at this time.

While trying to use auto in windows the window would go up then right back down sis it like 17 times back to back. Also after shutting car off while sitting in the car it pushed the lock button and received a message saying something about switches.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that in 90 degree temperature or more, the failure to communicate with climate control warning indicator illuminated and the windows were inoperable. The dealer (mt. Orab Ford 1-937-444-2551) was contacted and informed that they have never heard of that issue before. The manufacturer was contacted and informed that the contact needed to contact NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 51,550 jc.
My windshield wiper would drag and stick in the middle of the windshield. I tried several times to get the dealer to do somethiing, but all I got was Ford knew about but didn't know how to fix the problem!! my driver's side blade stuck in the middle of my view. . I drove to the dealership in a rain/snow to prove to them there was definitely something wrong!! a mechanic came out to look at it and finally decided it was the wiper motor. They ordered me one. It came in the next day. I got an appointment from at the dealership for the repair for same day. When I arrived the service writer told me that they were very busy and wouldn't get the cars fixed that was already. It was fixed that afternoon. They always had an excuse for not fixing my wiper problem. I feel my time is just as important as theirs. My husband had just had surgery and I am the only one he has to take care of him. I had to leave him alone to go get my 2015 Fusion repaired. I hope Ford will issue a recall on this wiper problem so I can get my $100 deductible on my extended warranty back. This happened on approx 4/2018.
After wipers have been run for a few minutes they start to stutter and skip. Sometimes they stop halfway down the window and then after a few seconds go to park position. Ford dealer tells me problem started when they changed to the "euro" wiper a few years ago. Putting in a new motor won't help, same problem. The dealer changes all new 28" wipers to 26 when they deliver a car. Mine had 26" and still has the problem.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the windows roll down and the sunroof opens op on their own. The contact stated that the mileage on the odometer meter rolls back. The dealer and manufacturer had not yet been contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000. Am.

The wipers will stop individually and randomly when in use. It seems to be more of an issue during light rain but has happened during heavy rain on occasion as well. I have been to my dealer for this and they said I needed new wiper blades. The car was still under warrantee at that time. It has reoccurred and I will visit my dealer again. I have seen other complaints on Fusion and other Ford vehicles with this problem. The date I used is the date of last occurrence not the date of first occurrence. Since this is my daughters car she thought it was okay for the wipers to hang once in a while. I do not accept this as a safe feature!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that his front headlights are dim while in operation. There are no warning lights that illuminate in reference to the failure. The contact linked his failure with NHTSA campaign number: 12v553000(exterior lighting). The contact also stated that upon engine start, the vehicle would not accelerate when depressing the gas pedal. A transmission warning light would illuminate intermittently when the failure occurred. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be serviced. The manufacturer had been notified of the failures but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Jo.
Wiper blades have disconnected from the wiper arm while in use, on five separate occasions. I've used multiple brands, installed by service professionals at Ford, pep boys and advance auto parts, and the problem has repeated. Coworker with 2015 Ford Fusion has had similar problem with original blades. Problem has occurred at highway speeds, low speeds and while stopped at traffic light.
Windshield wipers do not go fast enough to clear windshield and visability it nil. This is a disaster in the making, every time it rains at a moderate pace or more, I have to pull off the road and wait for the rain to let up. Once I was on a country road and was almost rear ended. Ford needs to replace the motor to increase speed or do something else before someone dies.
Just after leaving dealership for the cars first oil change, the car no longer has blinkers, wipers (except fast speed) and all steering wheel controls are inactive.
Bounce back window feature can not be disabled. Every time my wife opens the side window, the window will not close. The window goes to the top and comes back down by itself. The dealer says this is normal. The dealer reprogrammed it. The next time my wife touched it, it failed. A search on the internet gave a few thousand instructions on how to reprogram it. This is a big safety issue. She lowered the window on the interstate. Then she tried to close it. It wouldn't close. Now she is going 65 mph and fooling around with the window trying to get it to close. She should be concentrating on driving, not fooling around with a window. Furthermore, if she is stopped in traffic and sees some seedy individual coming near her she can't close the window.
Car has unexpectedly turned temperature in car from normal to extremely hot. Has caused windshield to immediately fog and unable to see, including on highway at faster speeds. Appears to be issue affecting many others with similar years of Ford Fusion models, with no immediate fix. I myself was traveling at 65 miles per hour on highway when one of the first incidents occurred. I had another incident where the temperature of the air coming out of my vents went from air conditioned cool air to extremely hot. Wouldn't this potentially cause a lot of accidents?.
When turning on the windshield wipers to low setting, they initiate at full speed with small breaks in between going to the correct set wiper speed. Have to turn off completely several times in order for the correct setting to register finally. Automatic transmission has hard slipping shifting going from 1st to 2nd gear when accelerating from a stopped position, very similar to the Ford focus powershift transmission recall.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the rear passenger door window failed to stay up. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician placed a stopper between the glass and the door to keep it from falling. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called Lincoln of franklin at (615) 794-4585 (1129 murfreesboro rd, franklin, TN 37064) and was informed that the part was not available. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.
Windshield wipers chatter across window when it's raining. The chatter gets so bad that they skip across the window not clearing the window completely hitting the post on the left side. Then when they are in an upright position they will stop and make a loud scrapping sound. They have chattered so bad that they have actually stoped functioning in the rain leaving no visibility for driving. This was on the freeway causing a dangerous situation. The car has been taken into the local Ford dealership 4 times. 1 time after we purchased the car, approximately 800 miles, and we were told the wipers were just dirty. Between this visit and the next 3 we had to purchase replacement wipers at 6,000 miles as the wipers were not properly clearing the window, but they were also causing chatter. . However, the old wipers appeared brand new. During the next 3 visits to the local Ford dealership in eureka CA we were told nothing was wrong, but they applied rainex or a similar product. The window was "cleaned". Lastly the windshield wipers were replaced. They also appeared brand new. Upon talking to the service rep we were told that the wipers on our Ford Fusion were not properly designed for our Ford Fusion and they were factory wipers. He also stated that several of the service techs have Fusions and they have had similar situations. We have had this set of wipers on for several weeks and already running into problems. I shouldn't be afraid to drive my car because I really like it. However, I can't jeopardize the lives of my grandchildren, others and myself. Please help miss mimi.
The windshield wipers are way to slow when driving in a minimal amount of rain. I have tried turning them into the highest frequency. It is so bad that I have to pull off the rode and stop to wait for the rain to stop. This could cause serious injury not only myself but to other drivers on the road. It is very hazardous and I really wish this issue can be fixed. It feels very hazardous.
Wipers on highest setting do not clear the windshield in a moderate rain. In the case of a hard downpour I have to pull over & stop. This has happened on multiple occasions. This is not acceptable!!! I will be trading this car soon!!!.
2017 Ford Fusion hybrid - driver's window will not stay closed. It does not matter if the car is parked or being driven. When the power window button is pulled to close the window, it will start and then stop when released. If the button is pulled again, the window will travel all the way up as if it is going to close and the open so that it is open 3/4 of the way. It is as if the window came in contact with something and then reopened automatically as if to prevent trapping a hand or arm. The net effect is that the car cannot be secured or driven in inclement weather without putting a plastic back over the window area of the door -- thus obstructing the driver's view to the left.
Windshield washer squirters are aimed too low. At speed, especially highway speed, the fluid is blocked by the wiper blades. The top of the windshield gets very little, if any, fluid. Dangerous on the highway!! I have spoken with Ford and my dealer. Ford claims the squirters themselves are not adjustable and that they operate as designed. Having tried other Fusions like mine, they are all operating this way. It is dangerous. My photos are of the car stationary, in my garage. The photo with the red line shows the point at which the squirters hit. The overspray above them does not happen at speed!.
Issue 1: fmvss critical safety issue. Intermittent total failure of climate control system, including failure of defogger causing obstructed visibility in cold climates (vehicle is based in metropolitan detroit). The failure is both electrical and mechanical. Neither the touch screen nor the physical console buttons respond to commands. After second intermittent failure, the vehicle was parked overnight in an attached home garage. After ignition, defogger functioned, but no other climate functions worked. Defogger emitted a burning smell akin to a campfire. Forced to drive with such conditions to work to maintain visibility. Issue 2: possible fmvss safety issue. Intermittent failure of the audio system, including snyc commands. Touchscreen (both on the home screen and on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen) and physical buttons do not respond when audio buttons are pressed. When this happens, sync does not respond. Although bluetooth is active, occupants cannot hear the dialed party, and the dialed party cannot hear the occupants. Since sync is tied into 911 system for crashes, this will prevent occupants from engaging with 911 operators hands-free in an accident. If occupants cannot reach/manipulate phone in a crash, they may be unable to call for help. Issue 3: intermittent rear camera failure. After rainfall and frost events, the rear camera does not engage when the vehicle is placed in reverse gear. The screen is black, except for an outline of the vehicle. The radar sensors remain active and beeps if the vehicle is close to backing into an object. After a period of dryness, the camera re-engages. I assume there is a moisture intrusion problem, but am unable to identify the entry point. Online searches suggest that moisture may be intruding through the factory-installed, roof-mounted antenna.
Steering turns excessively with turn while driving, and then sticks. Ford states "its working as it should". Repeatedly takes me into adjacent lane upon lane change, and almost off road, when getting off exits. Wipers and windshield wiper fluid system: 98% of the time, does not clean the top 1/3 of drivers view of windshield. Visability is better when not using or minimizing wiper use, in rain, snow. Suspension: death rattle. Vehicle intermittently excessively vibrates so severely, at any speed. With uneven roads, and holes, vehicles excessively rattles and jumps sideways in lane. Three sidewall flat tires in less than one year, the first year of ownership.
Wiper spray nozzles do not spray on the windshield very well making it difficult to clear a dirty windshield. The wiper arms block the left and right sprayers and only get a small amount of fluid on the windshield. After the wipers leave the home position and stay slightly elevated on the windshield the center sprayer can no longer spray past it to cover the windshield either.
The windshield is separating " delaminating " contacted Ford they said they were not going to replace the windshield. I personally have spoke with other Fusion owners and they as well have the same issue with there cars. This is a defect in the manufacturing of the windshield resulting in the separation of the two pieces of glass from the laminate. I also believe if not taking care of that it would result in vision impairment. Here are 2 photos showing the separation of the windshield.
Windshield wipers. Wipers are way to slow. In the rain it is super hard to see and you have no visibility. All you could do is pull over, which is most of the time inconvenient or hope that you don't get in a accident. Even moderate rain is hard see. Its a shame that older cars is safer than a 2013 Ford Fusion. I was going down a road that has a speed limit of 55 in hard rain, I obviously was doing a slower speed limit due to the danger of the rain and my vehicle's slow wipers. My visibility got so bad that I decided that I had no choice to turn to the right on a road that would give me access to a super walmart. My visibility was so bad that I could not turn in to the walmart parking lot because I could not see anything in front of me in order for me to continue on the road and make a safe left hand turn. I had to put my flashing lights on and use my left window to find my way down the path of the turning lane and out of the straight lanes. At this point I put the defog button on for the window and it helped a little bit. The rain started to slow down so I was able to continue on the road with limited visibility. I live in florida, it rains a lot here. This vehicle is very dangerous for me driving around here.
Takata recall : the windshield wipers on my 2012 Ford Fusion do not work fast enough, even on their highest speed, in even moderately heavy rain. So when it rains hard or I am on the highway it makes it impossible to drive and can be very dangerous to drive in any weather conditions other than complete sun. The most recent occurrence of danger I experienced from the slow windshield wipers was in georgia on the interstate and it was rainy and trying to go at least 60mph to keep up with traffic it was almost like driving blind. This needs to be addressed before myself, or someone else is seriously injured!.
