The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that four months after the vehicle was placed in storage, the contact became aware of a leak underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to eide Ford Lincoln (800 e bismarck expy, bismarck, nd 58504) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the differential coolant line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that part needed for the repair was on back order. Westlie motor company (500 s. Broadway, minot, nd 58701) confirmed the part was on back order. The failure mileage was 2,600.

Purchased a brand new 2018 Ford Mustang ecoboost premium 10-speed with performance package July 21, 2018 with 9 miles. Took car to the dealership November 2018 at 2,600 miles with a popping feeling and sound as well as an unsafe loose feeling in the rear end. This happened any time driving over uneven surfaces, turning curves and accelerating. They replaced the shock absorber after the car was in the shop 11 days. In January 2019 I took the car back to the dealership with 3,893 miles. The car was still making a grinding, popping sound in the rear end as well as the front end. The car also still felt loose as if was going to lock up while driving. The popping, grinding happened when pulling out of a driveway or parking space as well as sharp turning of the wheels. The loose feeling was going around curves, left or right turning from a stop light as well as accelerating from a stop. The car also felt as though it was not shifting properly. The dealership replaced the fluid in the rear end and after 8 days they said the rear differential needed to be replaced. It has since been 8 more days in the shop with no word. I feel this car is unsafe as it is such a new car, has been babied from the first day purchased. The fact that it has been in the shop twice almost 30 days of its life, under 4,000 miles and having the rear differential replaced shows there is something seriously wrong with this car. All this being reported to carfax has drastically reduced the value of my car since it does not report it as factory defect but rather possible abuse. I do not know if this is just my car or a safety issue from the factory. I asked the service manager if it was possible for the car to lock up on the highway and he confirmed it was definitely a possibility. At this point I am afraid to drive this car not knowing what else could go wrong with it.

The rear differential on my car was leaking fluid with less than 30,000 miles on the car. The 3 year/36,000 mile warranty had expired so I inspected it myself. When I removed the fill plug in the rearend I heard pressure escape. That told me the pressure relieve valve in the rearend was defective. But because of that my seals need to be replaced in my rear differential now. After talking to other Mustang owners I have been told this is a common and expensive and dangerous problem. This could cause fluid to leak onto rear brakes or even worse to much fluid lose would cause the rear differential to lock up and cause a accident. I modified the relief valve to fix the pressure build up problem. But now need to have the seals replaced which is a expensive repair. I rarely drive my car and it is always garaged. That is how I noticed it was leaking after seeing a puddle on the floor. I also know this is a common problem on that year Mustang because I've seen on automotive blogs on this problem and they recommend buying a aftermarket relief valve before this problem happens. It isn't like my car was driven in harsh conditions or even driven daily. I fixed the relief valve myself and have not had the damaged seal replaced yet,because I was going to have it done when they replaced the recalled airbags. Every time I try to set up a appointment they say the still don't have the replacement airbags in stock. I rarely drive the car now because of the issues and maybe driven the car a few times in the past 2 years. I believe this is a common problem on the 2005-2009 Ford Mustang and Ford should repair and replace any parts damaged by this issue. The relief valve is only a 10-15 dollar part but it's failure can cause thousands of dollars in damage and also a deadly crash.

Continuous excessive road noise throughout cabin starting at ~10 mph until ~20 mph. Low frequency "woo woo" sound. Much more pronounced after driving a few miles. Not located to any wheel, brake system, axle, or differential. Very loud and annoying especially in slow traffic. Safety issue? also excessive road noise starting at ~60 mph. Higher frequency resonant humming sound. Oem 19" pirelli tires on 19" gt premium rims. No cupping or excessive tire wear. Only ~24000 miles. Getting worse as time goes on. Happens with & without traction control. 5. 0l v8. 6 spd manual. Noisy with & without clutch depressed. Safety issue? wheel bearings? axle bearings? differential defect?.

After driving for a total of 6 hours with 1 stop at a rest area after the first 3 hours of driving, I made another stop to refuel. As I was exiting the freeway and made the first turn at 5-10 mph, my vehicle made a loud metallic cranking noise followed with strong vibrations throughout my car. After refueling, I returned to the freeway. It seemed that the noise and vibration only appears when making left/right turn at low speed (5-10 mph) after a continuous non-stop driving of at least 2-3 hours. I took my car to the nearest Ford dealer (jim wilson motors) and their technicians isolated the noise and vibration to the rear axle differential.

Transmission pops out of gear at 1st and 4th gear. Transmission gears grind at random times when shifting into gears. Requires clutch to be pressed at least 1 second to be pressed and additional effort in order to shift into gear after grinding to make sure that the gears are into place. Makes driving uncomfortable and raises safety concerns while driving on the road. I was able to verify the issues with the dealership and took 40 days to complete repairs. The problem still exists at random times when driving. Currently dealing with lemon law case against Ford for a replacement. Ford refuses to replace my vehicle. This is the one of 2 defects with my car. The second issue is with the rear axle differential (odi: 10556822). The second also has also been verified by Ford dealer and repair attempts were made. Problem still exists. Raises major safety concerns while driving on high rate of speed on the road since my car is a rwd and the defect is in the rear axle differential.
My entire rear differential had to be rebuild. My abs module had to be replaced as soon as the car went out of warranty. At least one wheel bearing had to be replaced. Poor tire wear was a result of the rear differential failing and poor quality tires. All four tires were replaced at 35,000 miles.

- the contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. On 1-13-07 the contact was driving at 65 mph under dry conditions when the rear differential seized, the vehicle stopped with in 3 seconds of the failure. The contact stated that there wasn't a crash, but the vehicle stopped in the middle of the road. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer, who first told him that the transmission failed. The dealer was told by the manufacturer to pull the transmission apart, and that they would then determine how to repair the failure. The contact called the manufacturer, and explained the situation. Driving on interstate the car lost power momentarily and then resumed normal driving. Within a few miles the vehicle began making a loud noise which sounded like a flat tire. Upon beginning to move to side of road, tapped brakes and vehicle began rocking, shaking and screaming with metal on metal noise. Vehicle was rocking front to back and fishtailing side to side. Vehicle lost all power steering and had no brakes. Upon disengaging brake, vehicle continued to make metal on metal noise, but was coasting with little steering. I was able to maneuver the vehicle onto an exit ramp, but upon nearing the end of the ramp I had to tap brakes again causing car to skid sideways, lock up and violently come to a stop. Upon exiting the vehicle I saw a large part of the car on the ground, glowing orange. This proved to be the drive shaft. I was told that the rear differential disintegrated causing the failure. The rear end, rear driver spring, drive shaft and other components were replaced. This was such a violent incident it caused the clamp which holds the drive shaft in place to be ripped from the frame of the vehicle which caused a hole, which needed to be welded, to occur. Old parts were confiscated to be returned to Ford for review.

Squealing/grinding noise from rear end on low speed turns at 7000 miles. Dealer identified the source as the rear axle and put in a new diff clutch pack. Vehicle was fine for a few months but the same sound has returned, however it is intermittent and quieter. Mileage is now about 14,000. Rear ends should not be wearing out every 10k miles on a high performance vehicle.
I bought a 2004 Ford Mustang on 9/15/03. The rear differential was faulty, causing me to take it to the dealership to be replaced on 10/28/03. The rear end whines and is wobbly while making any turns, left or right.
There is a whining noise coming from back I took it to the dealer bunch of times and they said it was fine but it whines at speeds of 55/65. Dt.

Ring and pinion rear end gears failure.
From purchase, had problem with noises eminnating, we thought, from the transmission. Also, under certain circumstances, usually after downshifting from 5th to 4th and then accelerating, will jump out of 4th gear. But, biggest concern has been a terrific vibration from beneath the car and in the console which, on one occasion, displaced the plastic cover on the instrument panel. Took vehicle to various Ford dealers in carson city and reno, nevada and stateline, CA. Although noise obvious, dealers unable to duplicate problem. Several months ago, the noise became very loud, at which time a dealer replaced parts, unknown, in the differential. We continued to have the same problems and more recently, the Ford dealership in carson city found a "technical" which covered a clutch problem. The Mustang is in the dealership now (since Monday) at which time clutch parts are to be replaced and the transmission is also to be checked for problems. Perhaps our concerns will be addressed, but we have been complaining for approximately 25,000 miles. Our concern has been for a "locked up" transmission and the possibility of an accident. No accident has occurred at this point.
I have a little problem. There is a clunking noise coming from the drivetrain. It only happens at the begining of acceleration, if I let offthe gas and then reapply it; it clunks again. I thought that it might be excessive backlash in the rear, but they checked that and said it was up to spec. They (bob thomas Ford of hamden CT) said that it was the rear crossmember to the transmission they tightened this up. This helped it a little but not completely. I'm thinking of going to another dealer .
