Front Air Bag Problems of Ford Mustang - part 1

The contact owns a 2008 Ford Mustang. While driving 45-55 mph he struck a wet spot on the road, and then crashed into the guard rail which caused the vehicle to roll over three times. None of the air bags deployed. He suffered minor injuries to his head, neck, and back. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership. The current and failure mileages were 22000. I received a recall reminder regarding recall 08c02 in may of 2008 for # and I have never owned this car, so I contacted Ford customer service and they said they would forward to current owner. January 2009 I received an urgent recall notice 08c02 for same # from my local Ford dealership. I called the dealership and asked if they could help to get this notice to the correct owner, the dealership said they contacted Ford and then I was told there isn't anything Ford can do. I'm concerned that the current owner isn't aware of a safety issue for that car and nobody seems to care. I'm hoping you can help. Thank you.

My son was involved in a car accident on July 20, 2008 in our 2007 Mustang, the airbags didn't deploy and the seat belt didn't properly restraint him. He hit the steering wheel, causing him to nearly kill him. He received a head laceration on his scalp his skull and tissue were showing having to be reattach his scalp with over 80 staples. He now suffers with headaches and the doctors told him he has to be carefully within the next year for fear of reopening the scalp incisions. I believe this is a product liability, you think airbags are going to prevent you from an accident like this and it fails. Ford motor company needs to know about this and prevent from someone getting killed.

Driving on highway at 50 mph and hit black ice and lost control. Knocked down a 6*6 inch sign post . Contact point was right front bumper. Frame was bent, massive front end damage . Car was written off. Neither air bag deployed. Whipping forward action caused a broken back. Single vehicle accident and lone occupant.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang gt. While driving 35 mph, the contact's vehicle was struck on the front driver side door. The air bag deployed and broke her wrist in eight places. The skin was burned off of her other arm. Seven pins and rods had to be inserted in her wrist, but it still cannot be moved. The vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed. The contact has pictures. On February 27, 2008, she saw a newscast stating that there would soon be a safety recall on the harsh deployment of the air bag and the failure to comply with fmvss. The powertrain, engine size, and VIN were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 31,000.

I was driving highway speed 68 mph when a car crossed the median 30 feet in front of me and I had a total loss head on collision with no air bag. . . . . It failed to open ?.

I was turning right in a parking lot at 15+mph when I hit a parking stall curb in the snow. The wheels stopped by hitting the curb with around a 3 inch clearance between the front bumper and the cement block. Both airbags deployed upon stopping on the curb. No body or mechanical damage was sustained to the vehicle.

My daughter, while driving our 2002 Ford Mustang, stopped behind a truck ahead of her that was stopped at a stop sign. The truck pulled forward as if to go, then stopped suddenly in front of her. She ran into the back of his truck going less than 5 mph and her airbags deployed.

My daughter was involved in a single vehicle front end collision. She hit a fire hydrant after a 90 degree spin at a speed of about 30 mph. The car sustained $6000 in damage and was totaled. Neither the driver or passenger airbags deployed. I questioned the body shop if they should have, everyone I talked to feels they should have. Isn't this what they are designed to do?.

The caller said airbags deployed without warning. The caller's daughter was turning into a gas station at about 5 mph when both front airbags deployed. She did not hit anything. Dealer and manufacturer offered no help for free. There was damage to the vehicle.

I was driving through a construction site. The vehicle was stopped at a red light about the 4th or 5th car back. I drove forward and as I was coming through the intersection where the was a change in road height of about 4 to 5 inches. My engine cross member bottomed out on the road and caused my airbags to deploy. I was not traveling very fast, at the most 15 mph. No other damage to the vehicle occurred either.

Consumer was driving and suddenly the air bags deployed. Consumer stopped suddenly, causing the vehicle behind to be involved in a crash. Manufacturer told consumer to report incident to the insurance company.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at 25-30 mph and neither frontal air bag deployed. Dealer was notified.

My son and a passenger were travelling south in the left lane of a four lane highway when he was forced off the road by a driver in the right lane. He lost control of the car and crossed the mediam and the two north bound lanes of traffic. The car continued up the embankment and hit a tree. The car is a 1991 Ford Mustang. Neither the passenger or the drivers air bags deployed.

While driving 45 mph the vehicle was hit by another vehicle on the front passenger side. The consumer stated that neither frontal air bag deployed upon impact. The driver sustained minor injuries as a result. Please provide any additional information.

While pulling into a parking space at low speed vehicle hit a small curb and the front air bags inadvertently deployed. There was no physical damage to the vehicle. The cause of the deployment had not been determined.

My son was involved in an accident with our 1999 Mustang gt. The vehicle has 35,000 miles on it. VIN # 1fafp42x7xf201575. My son 't-boned' a vehicle at approximately 30-35 mph. Our vehicle sustained $8000 in front end damage. Neither the drivers or passengers air bag deployed. My son and his passenger were transported by ambulance to the hospital with neck and back pain. The police and ambulance driver both said the air bags should have deployed based on the severity of the crash.

While traveling at 60 mph consumer ran head-on into a telephone pole, and none of front air bags deployed. Contacted dealer ,and the dealer was not willing to do anything.

Front crash at unknown speed, neither airbag deployed. No injuries, damage to vehicle was 4500. 00 dollars.

Driving home, rainy evening, small animal ran out in front of car, hit brakes, locked up, car proceeded straight, air bags deployed. Did not hit or run over anything. Have witness to event. Dealer and Ford indicate that this is typical and the air bag did as it was suppose to. Upon dealer checking for damage, small dent found in undercarriage of car. No entrance or exit wounds, just a dent - other parts of car are lower. . Dealer put car up on jack to show us, placed jack in wrong place, covering damage, had to take it back down. Damage lines up perfectly with jack. Dealer damaged w/ jack and Ford (who wouldn't even come in to look at car) agreed w/ dealer that this could cause airbag deployment. I did not hit anything, the air bags malfunctioned, dealer made damage - it's a cover-up.

While traveling at 30 mph a truck broadsided consumer's vehicle. Vehicle was totalled, and none of frontal airbags deployed. Please provide any further information.

After going over a bump the passenager air bag opened injuring the passenager, no frontal collision.

While driving 65 mph in wet road condition consumer applied brakes to avoid hitting another vehicle, and vehicle started to skid and hit guardrail/ front impact. Consumer hit his head on steering wheel. Neither airbag deployed. Damage to vehicle about $ 11000. 00.

Front end crash into a light pole. Car is a complete total. None of the air bags opened. I call Ford. Since no one was injured they do not seem to care. Does someone have to be killed to get attention. I paid for an air bag sytem. It did not work. How can I get Fords attention.

While consumer was driving between 15-20 mph had to apply brakes hard and both airbags deployed. Dealer said computer showed vehicle had been involved in an accident, that was why airbags deployed.
