2 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/30/2008

This complaint is regarding an air-bag light that comes on when driving my 2005 Mustang. The car was purchased new from joe meyers Ford in houston. Within the first year, the air-bag light started coming on randomly. It might not come on for days, then decides to come on. The owner's manual says if this light comes on to take it to the dealership, nothing else. The first time I brought it to the service department's attention, I was told if it wasn't on it wasn't a problem. Within my second year of ownership, the air-bag light came on while driving to the dealership for a routine oil change. This time the service again saw the light on. They kept the car, sold me a battery service where they removed the cable and sprayed anti-corrosion stuff on the terminal. This did not change the random light coming on while driving. I brought it back to the dealership for the Ford Mustang recall to re-program the airbag system. This did not change the random light coming on while driving. Received a call in may 2008 that they had a replacement sensor for my car. Brought it in and was told it was the wrong sensor. The service agent told me to call back later (no specific time line)to see if they had the new sensor. The car's warranty was up in July 2008, the light comes on all the time, and the dealership said they do not have the sensor for my car, but there are 5 dealers in town that have them. I plan to bring the car back this next week for them to fix the sensor, and feel they should honor the warranty. Whether they fix the problem or not remains to be seen.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 03/08/2008

The air bag light behind the steering wheel comes on at random occasions. After starting the car in cool wet weather, or after the 3rd or 4th stop in a series of errands. It stays on until I turn the ignition off. After turning the ignition on again, sometimes it stays on again, and much of the time it goes off after the initial computer check. Of course the dealer says they cannot do anything unless it is on all of the time. So what does it mean when it decides to stay on? will it not deploy in the event of an accident?.

4 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/23/2008

I purchased my 2007 Ford Mustang gt in August of 2007. It was a floor model that the dealer had done modifications to. On 24 Jan 08 I went to fill "top-off" the fuel which was below 3/4 of tank. After only getting about 1. 87 gallons in, the pump clicked off. I tried to pump more gas into the tank and was surprised when it started to overflow. (after starting the car back up, the fuel gauge was still in the same spot before I started fueling) I also noticed that in the recent weeks my "passenger airbag light" does not read it is in the "off" position when no passenger is present, even though it did read this before. I have since contacted my dealership and am bringing the car in to have them check these problems as well as others I am concerned with after reading the forums.

5 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 11/15/2005

At 40 mph the 4 wheel antilock brakes on my 2005 Ford Mustang locked up when I was attempting to stop at a stop light, causing my car to hydroplane into the back of a Dodge pickup. The engine in my car was driven back into the fire wall upon impact; however, my air bag system failed resulting in more serious injuries to me.

6 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 04/16/2005

I am a cosigner on a 2002 Ford Mustang-daniel barker cosigner was brandon vick, also, on my insurance. On 04-16-2005 brandon was driving southbound on highway, 6 a major highway running through bcs between navasota and heampstead, he drove over a bridge which changed textures, or slopped down and the airbags in deployed. Brandon pulled over slowly and came to a stop, pulled out the airbags and drove away. 04-18-05-brandon talks to insurance agent who calls varsity Ford about fixing this since it is under warranty. They just say no, it will be $2,000. Calls thompson country Ford and they say to come in and run Mustang under diagnosis machine. Workers say they dont know what the codes mean and asked brandon to come back when manager is back. Goes back 04-22 manager says they will not fix it under warranty cause it has expired, this is not true. It was inititially understood by all parties from the book in the subject vehicle glove compartment that this vehicle is still under warranty for airbag situations. Then told brandon not to worry about the charge. Then when proved wrong they said they would not do it cause it had crashed but refused to write this on paper unless they were paid $70. I went up there and paid them $70. They wrote that the car was travelling down hwy 6 and hit a pothole. Airbags deployed and crash is detected therefore not covered by warranty, however they did not release codes or explain what all meant. They implied that car was crashed and 'fixed up' from sat to mon. They also wrote on paper that vehicles warranty has expired. They were falsifying the truth by saying that car hit a pothole. That was never said. There is no sign of damage on the car, examined by claims rep. There are thousands of vehicles that travel hwy 6 everyday and drive over the same bridge. No modifications to this vehicle. Claim with farmers pending however mechanical failure is excluded from policy.

2001 Ford Mustang cobra front bumper made contact with another vehicle and both front air bags deployed. ** answer required***. The consumer stated his speed was only 1 to 2 mph. The consumer had previous rear end damage and was told by the dealership that the previous dealer may have improperly set the sensors.
