While accelerating to get on the freeway, the transmission began to slip and the car began to jerk, then the transmission locked into 3rd gear, and would not shift out of 3rd gear until the vehicle was completely stopped, and the engine turned completely off. This is an intermittent problem, but an extremely dangerous one when it occurs. The Ford dealership says I need a recall notice before they can fix it. I'm out of work and don't have the funds to replace or repair the vehicle. Right now, we are driving it as little as possible.

My manual transmission 2012 Ford Mustang was initially at a standstill at the stop light at a four way intersection. As I prepared to make a left hand turn, I experienced difficulty shifting into first gear--the transmission did, however, shift into first. I accelerated to make the turn, and halfway through the turn I lost power (approximate speed was 15 mph)--the transmission shifted out of first gear back into neutral. It was as though it had only partially engaged the gear when I initially shifted into first. A near collision ensued, as there was oncoming traffic. I originally had enough time to make the turn, but the loss of power caused me to come to a near stop in the intersection. I attempted to shift back into first, but the shift was impossible (the transmission simply would not shift into first), so I shifted into second gear and gave it as much gas as possible to get out of the intersection.
I have only owned this car for 3 months. It has 4400 miles on it and the manual transmission is acting up. Sometimes I cannot get it to go in to gear, usually 1st, 2nd, and reverse. It will occasionally jump out of gear with normal operation. This car is very unsafe with this problem. I live in the dallas metroplex, with the stop and go traffic sometimes a driver doesn't see the cars in front stopped and you you have to get out of their way. With this problem I can guarantee that I would get rear ended in that situation. Even after sitting at a light I sometimes am getting honked at since I cannot get the car into gear. I believe this to be a very serious safety issue as well as a huge annoyance. This needs to be fixed.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle would shifts out of gear when traveling at high speeds. The dealer stated that the manufacturer designed the vehicle in a manner that would avoid up shifting when traveling at high speeds. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 250.
Transmission jumping out of gear during moving, impossible to down shift to aid in engine braking or dodging/avoiding obstacles.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact's wife passed another vehicle at 60 mph and, when she attempted to decelerate, she could not. She released the accelerator pedal, but the speed would not decrease. She pumped the brakes, but the failure continued. Eventually, the vehicle shifted out of passing gear on its own and then decelerated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer or consulted the manufacturer. The current and failure mileages were 18,000.

About 6-8 months after I purchased my 2001 Ford Mustang bullitt
my transmission went out and had to have it replaced because 3 gear would not engage with ease or it would slip. . Ever since the shifting of gears has deteriorated. . Also the rear leaks for no apparent reason the access nut seems to come loose and leak with out a cause, I have had to replace the rear nut and oil were the driveline meets the rear axle. It is very difficult to put the car in 1st or in reverse some times and when shifting between 1st 2nd and 3rd the gears stick or slip. I had a number of issues since day one with this car and it spent a lot of time in the shop the first two years I owed it and sat for a little over a year due to mechanical problem there after. I was rear ended once while trying to make a right hand turn because the car slipped out of second gear luckily the driver was able to slow down enough to only leave his license place screws imprinted in my rear bumper and no one was seriously hurt just stunned and frightened.

The first indication that there was a problem was when the car would not shift into reverse. I noticed this and mentioned it to the service writer when the car was in for a routine oil change. I was told to try different things to get it to go into reverse more easily. Soon after the reverse issue I started the have problems shifting into gear while driving. The car would not shift into the next gear at times. At some point the car started to slip out of gear while accelerating. This can be dangerous when merging into traffic. I at first thought maybe I was at fault, but soon realized that the problem was with the car. When I investigated the problem I found out that this is a known defect. There was a TSB put out on the model years 2007-2009. Ford never informed us the issues with the transmission and/or clutch. Now they tell us that our 3/36,000 warranty has run out, so that if the clutch is part of the problem it won't be covered. Ford should have informed the owners of this potentially dangerous defect in the car. They obviously knew about it, and did repair many of them. I realize that the newer model years are also having these issues. There should be a recall put out on these cars. There are many shelby gt 500 owners who may not know about this safety issue.
The vehicle jumped out of gear while driving.
While driving and stepping on brakes pedal brakes will not work properly. Also, while vehicle was parked with first gear (manual trans. ) and with emergency brakes on , transmission jumped out of gear, but brakes did not hold, and vehicle rolled back, crashing.
