1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 03/04/2019

2019 Ford Ranger purchased, noticed slight pulsation when stopping highway or city. Continued to get worse to a point where I became afraid to drive it because twice on heavy braking pulsation was sever and I was afraid was not going to stop. Situation was worse more truck was driven. Notified service advisor of issue and that I had been really careful but then I notified him again and advised I was fearful of driving vehicle especially on wet road. Took picture of left rear rotor thru wheel holes and found black spots in rotor. Took truck in on March 19th, service advisor called and said the mechanic was going to have all four rotors turned. I told him that was unacceptable, the rotors and brakes need to be replaced. The situation was escalated to Ford motor company, today March 26th the service advisor called and left message they were replacing rear rotors. Have not been able to reach them back because I feel they need to also replace brake pads, for a proper mating process. He never mentioned front rotors agin as in previous dicussion. I orivinally advised them they should replace all rotors and brake pads. Them tellong me they were going to turn all rotors makes me think that all the rotors are warped. Also rear seat upper portion when released to downward position, is very hard to relock in upper position, which if not locked to cause seatbelted passengers nd seat itself to fly forward in a frontal crash.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 06/08/2012

I brought my 2009 Ranger to the dealer for a safety inspection and oil change and during the inspection it was noted that the front brake rotors had substantial pitting and scoring on the in-board side of the rotor. The vehicle failed inspection and required replacement of the rotors. It was noted that the pads showed only 30% wear and the vehicle has only 27159 miles at the time of the service. I haven't found any other mention of these factory rotors failing in such a short period of time and never in all the Ford and other vehicles I've owned would the rotors need to be replaced after so few miles with so little wear on the pads. I had the parts saved and there are pieces missing from the surface that look to me like large flakes of the surface had worn away from the assembly. I'd like to know if this has been a problem for anyone else with this brand of factory installed rotors.

4 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2009 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

Immediately after purchasing 2009 Ranger XLT, noticed excessive dirt on front wheel rims. Complained about it to dealer first time I took the truck in for an oil change, also complained that I wasn't getting mileage expected. Was told it was just brake dust, it would easily come off with tire cleaner & hose, & truck needed to be broken in for mileage improvement. I kept complaining that brake dust seemed excessive to me, never had problem before. Installed ceramic brake pads, didn't help. Within first year noticed steering wheel vibrating & dealer said I had to have new pads & rotors $400. I complained again that something else must be wrong with brakes. I don't drive dusty roads, don't ride the break, don't drive excessive miles (72,000 in 5 yrs. ). Within 6 months noticed steering wheel vibrating when stopping, soon needed pads & rotors again. Have had to have 5 brake jobs in last 5 years costing me over $2000. Have taken it to Ford dealers & independents each telling them I want it solved, not just to slap on new parts. No one bothers to listen to me, charge me over $400 each time & 3-6 months later the rotors are warped again and brake pads wear out soon after. "brake dust" had ruined rims on the truck.

Failure Date: 01/19/2006

: the contact stated while approaching an intersection at 40mph the vehicle in front stopped short. When the brakes were depressed the vehicle seemed to accelerate rather than slow down. The contact swerved to avoid a direct rear end collision, but clipped the vehicle in the right rear bumper. Both vehicles sustained only minor damage. The police filed a report at the scene. The contact experienced two previous failures with the brakes, but no accidents resulted in the other incidents. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the problem could not be duplicated. 10 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2001 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 08/29/2003

11 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2001 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 07/01/2003

Brake pedal went to the floor, while attempting to slow down to a stop. As I was approching stopped traffic, and put my foot on the brake pedal to attempt to slow down. The pedal went to the ground and the truck continued to move. After several attempts at the brake pedal, the rear wheels locked up but the front did not. Causing me to almost spin out on the freeway going about 65mph. The local Ford sercive department says it was due to a panic stop that the brake fluid boiled and the pads over heated. But I did not attempt a panic stop. I was going 65 for about 10 minutes, when I attempted to slow down the brakes simply failed. They are charging me for new brake pads, seals and a complete brake fluid flush. Almost $350 dollars.

13 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 1996 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 03/05/2000

While driving on a narrow two-lane road, I proceeded to pass another vehicle. I accelerated and kicked the truck into passing gear. The throttle went to the wide open position and would not release. I used the brakes to fight the out of control engine and vehicle. I proceeded down the curvy for 3 to four miles until I got to a pullout place where I applied the brakes so hard that it killed the engine. The brakes were down to no pads, were very hot, and cooked out grease that caught on fire. I restarted the engine at which time the throttle was no longer stuck in the wide open position.

Now problem always happens for first few stops after sitting over night or about 1 hr. Service tech. Has experienced problem, but did not fix. Owner will now claim lemon law rights.
