The first time I drove my Ford Ranger and went to brake, I was startled by my right shoe getting tangled and wedged on something. I was able to get to the brake and come to a stop in plenty of time but it did give my heart a jump. It has happened several times with my husband as well. The clearance between the lower part of the dash and the accelerator and brake pedals needs reconfiguring as your right foot barely fits. If I am wearing my winter shoes or work boots, it is far worse. In a panic situation, one may not be able to stop the vehicle in time.

I came up to a stop sign on a snow cover highway. When I applied the brakes my abs brakes came on, but instead of slowing down, I felt the vehicle accelerating instead. I was pushed into the middle of the intersection and involved in an accident. An accident report was filed with the state of wisconsin. No injuries occurred. I mentioned the problem to the Ford dealer, but they said there was no recall notice on file. An insurance adjuster inspected the damage to my vehicle last week. I have made an appointment with a body shop in February. I have not driven the vehicle since the accident. There were no warning messages before the accident.

When I move my foot from the gas to the brake several times the shoe has caught the plastic trim above the gas pedal, and several times it has also caught the plastic trim piece on the right side of the gas pedal. This has kept me from braking quickly because the shoe gets stuck on the trim and I have to move the shoe away from me and down towards the gas pedal, and then keep it lower while I move it over to the brake pedal. Very unsafe and possible accident causing design.
Brake pad fell off while driving, it hasn’t been serviced by anyone else except the manufacturer. It’s a manufacturer failure and a safety issue. The dealer ship refused to provide an inspection report of the vehicle.

I have had the truck for 2 weeks. Three times I've almost rearended a car in front because of a braking system that doesn't stop the truck quickly enough. The pedal will travel 6" at times before it engages. This is very dangerous especially when braking when travelling around curves or round a bouts. I've taken the vehicle to two dealers and an independent brake shop. Dealers say it's normal. Independent brake shop warned against driving the truck. Town and country stated that the pedal going to the floor is normal. No warning prior to this incident.
We were making a right through an intersection at a speed of 9mph when the car in front of us hit their brakes unexpectedly. My 30 year old son was driving and felt like the brakes did not respond when he pressed them. My truck did not stop until it hit the car in front of us. It did start beeping just before impact and the dash lit up but the brakes didn’t engage until after impact.
When truck was new at 400 miles abs traction controll rear collision and all braking erro codes were displayed on dash. Brought to dealer had a bad wheel speed sensor in rear. At that time I asked about large amount of rear brakes dust on vehicle like if the brakes were dragging. Technician said just poor oem pads. Now at 14k miles rear pads at 6mm thickness back wheels are always covered in brake dust. I was at dealer asked if there is anything they could do regarding initial build quality. Dealer said no there is no fault just poorly made pads. As a consumer ths is less then except able of a vehicle to almost need new rear brakes at 14k miles. Delaer should be replacing these pads on there behalf not the customer.
On more than one occasion but still infrequently, I have been coming to a stop and while braking, the engine revs and lurches forward while I'm attempting to stop. It is rare that it happens but it is very scary when it does happen. No warning lights appear. I have submitted a request to the dealer who sold us the truck. But it happens to infrequently that it would be difficult to reproduced by a dealer. It has happened approximately 5 times since purchasing the vehicle in December 2020. Approximate date of most recent event below.

Several warning lights, which included: abs failure, parking assist failure, lane avoidance failure, traction control failure, as well as having steering difficulty. ( mileage 24500 ). The problem was found by dealer to be an eletrical connector underneath the vehicle at the mid point, with their belief that it was corrosion, which I believe to be a defective component and design. I contacted Ford but they were not interested in retrevale of the connector, so as to diagnose the failure. ( I am keeping the connector ).

The contact owns a 2025 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while her son was operating the vehicle, the message "brake failure" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the abs module had failed, and a software update was needed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100.
The brake pedal sits too high and there are obstructions under the dashboard. I'm a size 10. 5 shoe, when transitioning from gas to brake, I need to lift my foot, then when transitioning the top of my foot left, it hits braces/panels under the dash and delays my braking. It's possible under the worst of conditions, that this could be a factor in an accident.
Vehicle randomly upon start up, shows error codes on dash, of important safety system tech, including: pre-collision assist not available service advance trac auto hold system fault antilock brake fault service vehicle soon vehicle warnings make truck unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2025 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there were several warning lights illuminated with an abnormal beeping sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer was informed to open the doors, turn off and restart the vehicle off to reset the system. In addition, the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle failed to stop as intended while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that recently while driving at slow speeds down a hill during inclement weather, the abs failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired after the recent failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
Air vent under steering wheel does not provide proper clearance for brake applications. Foot gets tangled/caught on vent. Had a few close calls during emergency situations. Problem gets worse with thicker sole shoes.
Vehicle has 11000 miles on it when stopping brakes are soft and pedal can go lower than gas pedal. Have talked to other drivers w same problem w Ford Rangers. It will b $150 expense Ford dealer says abs bleed procedure will correct. To me this is a safety issue as my foot could I have the gas pedal when braking.
The two rear brake rotors were 75% rusted through, this truck only had 5,642 miles on it at the time. Brake pedal was soft, went to the floor to stop. Asked local Ford dealer to look at and they wanted to charge me for two rear rotors and brake shoes. I informed them that I thought this would be a factory defect, they determined it wasn’t. This was unexceptable to me. So I took it to dealership where I purchased truck and they agreed that this was a factory defect and replaced. The only reason I’m writing you is due to all the complaints listed on your site for this truck, not one issue about rusted (badly) rotors. Unless this is an issue but just not being found. ? I did read quite a few complaints about soft brake pedals though.
Brakes pedal is soft and keeps going down as you push on it. The peddle does not pump up. Ford dealer says that that’s the way Ford Ranger brakes feel. There are no warning lights and no noise coming from the brake system. Engine idle, the engine idles at 900+ rpm’s, if you don’t keep the break pedal firmly pressed the truck moves forward. I found myself in the middle of an intersection at a stop light this morning. Ford dealer says that is what Ford specifically requires that the idle be set at. I have found numerous similar complaints on the internet from Ford Ranger owners.
Unintended aceleration veheicle experienced normal stop with no anomaly. Upon release of brakes, experienced reported wide open throttle" brakes were ineffective. Vehicle accelerate thru intersection striking guardrail with significant damage. Wot stopped by shutting of engine. Vehicle currently in repair. Reported event to local dealer service dept, insurance rep and Ford referencing 2010 class action lawsuit for similar events, all claim no knowledge of such an event. Vehicle had no previous reports of similar events.

Had someone driving behind me flag me over. I had no tail lights, brake lights, turn signals front or rear or hazzard lights in the front or back. There is only 15,000kms on this truck. Head light low beam and high beam work. Trying to get in contact with Ford canada and a Ford dealership. Was scanned at a shop and showed multiple body control module faults and looks like a module. But not touching the vehicle as it has the max warranty they sell this vehicle is in nova scotia, but came from the michigan plant. It will not accept my canadian address.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the pedal would fade and extend to the floor. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who bled the brake lines, but after retrieving the vehicle the failure reoccurred. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,640.
Vehicle is a 2019 Ford Ranger mileage is 25700. . Just had to have all four rotors and brake pads replaced. Rear axle rotors showed unaccepatable pitting causing premature wear on pads, while front showed evidence of intermittent pulsing, causing uneven wear . Dealership informed me that their hands were tied, this was considfered a normal wear and tear. Ford customer care also informed me that there were no programs at this moment to address this problem. I have noticed on your site that there are consumer complaints about the brakes on this vehicle and it's my request that further investigation of the brakes and materials is warranted.
There is an air vent just above the brake pedal . When stepping on the brake my foot presses on that vent, it feels like the brake, until you realize the car is not stopping. Took it to the dealer they cant do anything for it. I feel it could be a big issue for someone until the driver figures it out. . Thank you.
Truck has no spare tire, totally missing the assembly and bracket originally used to hold the tire (have a junk one in the bed). The crossmember under the truck is about 50% intact is getting ready to fall off. Brake lines and rocker panals rotted out as well. Holes in the frame starting and a patch was already needed on the frame (drivers side rear). As well as a loose bed. The truck is very clean on top but underneath is rotting away like it has 200000 miles on it(truck is at 77,000). I want to remove the rust and coat it but im scared of punching through cause spots are brittle.

This trucks rear brake pads have been wearing unevenly since it was new. The inside rear brake pads are showing heavy wear and the outside pads are not showing even wear. This truck has been into the kendall Ford of wasilla alaska for service in early 2022 and this was first noted and repaired. Now this issues has been found again by owner/operator. There seems to be and issue with the slid pins/bolts for caliper are not allowing the outside pads to slide when pedal is active. This is not an isolated issue according to blogs I have found on this issue.
I nearly hit the back another vehicle stopped for a red light when my foot caught the edge of the gas pedal. The brake pedal depresses passed the height of the gas pedal. I understand this is a commonly reported Ford Ranger issue . I understand a brake bleed software procedure will fix the problem . There apparently is a Ford TSB regarding soft brake pedal issue. I bought the truck new in 2021 and have less than 6000 miles on it. I thought the braking was normal . The bumper to bumper warranty I'll not cover brake issue due to the 36000 3 year coverage.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that a message displayed on the vehicle's computer as well on the contact's vehicle notifications app stating an steering electrical failure had to occurred and the vehicle needed servicing. At that moment the steering began to malfunction causing the contact to use an excessive amount of force to steer the vehicle. The vehicle began to self direct and the brakes became difficult to apply causing the contact excessive pressure to come to stop. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The failure persisted. The contact received notification for a lawsuit that related to similar failures. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 16,000.
On multiple occasions the transmission has slipped when changing gears . This has happened when trying to merge into traffic . One time almost causing someone to rear-end me . It also fails to downshift some times when stopping , causing me to brake much harder than normal . I will be taking it to the dealer soon , to see if this can be fixed . These issues can be a little scary at times . There have been no warning lights or messages . This has happened at least a dozen times now . The first incident with the transmission I think started in 10/2022 . It was sporadic at first , but seems to happen almost daily now .
The failed component is a small wheel speed sensor on the rear axle. The sensor is designed in a way where it inserts into the axle and sits close enough to the gears that it can be hit by the gears during bumps/potholes/etc. The issue puts myself and others at risk as when the sensor malfunctions or breaks, it disables multiple safety features of the truck including: antilock brakes, traction control, power steering, hill assist, and collision avoidance system. Other systems affected include cruise control. The problem has been reproduced with three separate speed sensors, two oem sensors and one after market. I have had the vehicle inspected by a Ford dealership for the issue. Issues prior to the first replaced sensor was the sensors have issues with cold climate. When snow or ice is on the roadway, the sensors have issues and disable all the above features. Appears the design cannot withstand the cold weather.
When coming to a stop at a stop sign or light and your foot is a little off on the brake pedal you can simultaneously hit the brake and the accelerator pedal causing the vehicle to not stopping properly. The brake pedal is closer to the floor board when applied than the accelerator pedal.
The contact owned a 2020 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at 5-10 mph downhill onto a leveled road and approaching a traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. The vehicle accelerated unintendedly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal but it failed to respond. The vehicle crashed into two vehicles. However, the vehicle continue to accelerate unintendedly. The contact then purposely crashed into a tree on the side of the road in other to stop vehicle. The air bags deployed. The contact sustained a split lip, soreness all over the body, swollen eye, a swollen face. Additionally, the contact sustained depression and emotional trauma as he was confused, ridiculed, verbally abused by bystanders who taught he intentionally caused the accident. The contact was also detained by police patrol and released after an hour. The contact did not seek medical assistance. Two occupants of the two vehicles the contact crashed into sustained unknown injuries. There was no further information provided. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to tow yard where it was totaled. The local dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while driving in the morning at an undisclosed speed and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard. The contact stated that the brake pedal was soft while attempting to slow and stop the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle to another local dealer: varsity Ford (3480 jackson Ave, ann arbor, mi 48103: (734) 996-2300) but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 19,408.
On two separate instances the truck accelerated on it own and the brakes were used but didn't stop the vehicle had to turn the key off and the second of these two incidences the truck hit a wall and kept accelerating digging the ground up.
