36 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 01/24/2022

I was slowly pulling forward, parking my vehicle. I pressed the brakes and they did not engage. I pumped my brakes and my foot was down to the floor with no brake activity and an involuntary acceleration occurred causing me to crash into a brick wall. Fortunately, I was the only person injured in the crash. The police were called and my vehicle was towed to be repaired. It was inspected by my insurance company. I called Ford several times to ask that the vehicle be inspected by a Ford investigator to determine why the brakes failed and the involuntary acceleration occurred. They misdirected me at least 10 times. I informed that there were 12 reports of the identical problem happening to other 2019 Ford Ranger owners. They ignored my requests. Upon recommendation by Ford customer service, my car was towed from a body shop to a Ford dealer where they informed by that there was at least one instance that the diagnostics showed a sensor failure. At no time did any warning light appear on my dash signaling me there was an issue of a sensor failure. In spite of this problem, Ford continues to ignore my request for an inspection of the vehicle. I went to a doctor as I had a very bad headache and pain throughout my body. I had a concussion and soft tissue damage along my right side, both hands and elbows.

37 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 12/17/2021

The brake pedal is mushy when applied. When you have to press the brake pedal hard, then the brake pedal is about 0. 75 inches below the accelerator pedal. I took it to the Ford dealer and he said it is working fine.

38 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 12/09/2021

Incident was reported to me by an employee. Driving in traffic on a highway with normal, dry road conditions the accelerator pedal started moving down on its own. The truck accelerated on its own from 50 mph to 70+ mph. Applying the brakes the truck did not slow down. Eventually, the accelerator pedal corrected itself and started working normally. There was no indication on the dashboard of the issue. This could have resulted in a serious accident or death. The truck is waiting to be towed to the Ford garage for repair. Thank you, wendy mcneill.

39 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 10/19/2021

The brake pedal is very soft. It needs 1 or 2 pumps to get it to where my former vehicles were.

40 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 10/01/2021

I am, yet another of numerous Ford Ranger owners with the same brake issue. I completely concur with the November 3, 2023 complaint (NHTSA id number: 11553431) and everything stated in it. I must add that a few times I got pretty scared that I would not be able to stop in time as planned. The brake pedal travels (literally falls) far deep to the floor before any, however slight, breaking effort is achieved. Disturbingly, if I don’t keep the brake pedal firmly pressed the truck will move forward!.

41 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 09/30/2021

When applying brake you have to pump brakes, if going at a low speed you’ll only slow down about 20% if going 50mph or higher you have to pump brakes 2-3 times to get the mushyness to go away and start braking properly.

42 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 09/20/2021

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brakes had malfunctioned and the brake pedal was spongy or in some cases would extend to the floor causing the braking distance to be extended. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure and no service was performed. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 19,500.

43 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 08/29/2021

Brake pedal travel is excessive, similar to a much older vehicle. Brakes to not slow the vehicle until you press past the gas pedal, which introduces significant risk as the driver often simultaneously presses the gas pedal when making emergency or even normal stops and because this requires you to sit closer to the steering wheel than normal so you can reach the very long travel of the brake pedal, even if you are tall like me. Braking with even a moderate weight trailer requires very heavy depressing of the brake pedal to the point where you expend all travel and still don't feel as if you're slowing down as quickly as a modern vehicle should. My 2002 chevy tahoe with 210k miles had better brake performance than this 2021 truck. Brake pedal has heavy resistance during initial travel but no stopping power until 1/2 way through full travel range and there is almost no fidelity for slow, controlled braking after that. Worst of all, the brake pedal, which is electronically connected to trail management features, has a tendency to want to sink to the floor when you've stopped and/or there's a feeling that something is vibrating or trying to control the pedal when you are stopped. Additionally, even slight movement of the brake pedal causes the engine to start even though there's no reason for doing so as the vehicle is still stationary. This brake pedal is not something you get used to. I feel unsafe and have almost rear ended vehicles numerous times. . . Eventually it will happen! this needs to be addressed in a recall immediately!!!.

45 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 06/25/2021

The brake pedal at times goes almost to the floor. One time it traveled past the gas pedal and my foot engaged it causing it to lunge forward. Had there been a vehicle in the parking spot ahead of me, I would have hit it. I've taken it to the dealer but they claim this is a "normal characteristic for this vehicle". This is both an accident waiting to happen and a problem in need of a solution/recall.

46 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 06/15/2021

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where the brakes were inspected. The dealer informed the contact that the brakes were in good condition; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

47 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 06/14/2021

It is quite easy to depress the brake pedal in such a way that one's foot also engages the accelerator pedal. This has happened to me several times, causing the truck to lurch forward rather than stopping dead as is my intention. Looking online, I see this has also happened to many others on Ford trucks. I have been driving for over 50 years and this has never happened on any other vehicle.

48 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 11/19/2020

Our new 2020 Ford Ranger XLT listed a feature call pre-collision assist w/aeb. The truck did not give a warning nor did it apply the brakes automatically. Nothing occurred before we ran into the rear end of the car in-front of us. The car ahead was stopped at a traffic light and we ran into the rear end at about 20 mph.

49 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

The adaptive curise control does not work like other vehicles. When the cruise control is active it keeps the proper distance between cars until the car in front slows down and then when there is about two car lengths it releases the brakes making you have to jam on the brakes before hitting the car in front. My other vehicles stop and keep the proper distance. Ford dealer first said this is not the way it should work but after talking to Ford they say thats the way it works. Seems like a big safety issue I almost had a rear end collision the first day I got the truck.

50 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

Brake pedal travel is long, soft and inconsistent. Feels like as if there is air in the line.

51 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 06/20/2020

Brake pedal travels past the gas pedal when making a normal stop creating the possibility of applying pressure to the accelerator unless care is taken. Brake pedal continues to fade to the brake stop with moderate pressure if vehicle is stopped on a hill. Ford motor company attempted one repair which consisted of bleeding the brakes which resulted in no improvement. Now Ford contends that the brakes are operating normally and refuse to make further repairs.

52 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 01/06/2020

I I hve had my vehicle toford 5 times now for the breaks. The break peddle goes within 1" of the floor. When stoping the pedal goes below the gas pedal and wants to acceleerate and stop at the same time. When stoped the peddal will slowly move downward to the floor. I was told to drive the vehicle and get aquainted with it. After almost rearending two vehicles and ending up in an intersection I am conecerned for my well being when oerating this vehice. I would like a replacement at this point,.

53 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 09/20/2019

Pulling into a parking space and applied the brakes. The brake pedal went all the to the floor and my foot then engaged the gas pedal also. The Ranger lunged forward and I hit a store sign. I have had two instances of unintended acceleration while braking, on both occasions the engine revved and the vehicle went forward. Only have 950 miles on it. The brake pedal has a lot of travel before engaging. Ford needs to take a serious look at this.

54 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 08/31/2019

Tl-the contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger while driving at various speed and depressing the brake pedal the vehicle failed to stop. There were no warning lights illuminated. 55 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 08/22/2019

When you fully depress the break pedal you can fully engage the accelerator pedal. This has resulted in an accident 2 days after delivery of the vehicle. On 8/22/19 shortly after noon I had returned from sioux falls to home . As usual I entered the garage letting the idle carry me in with my foot on the brake. I came to a stop before the parking stop. I started to release the brake to move up to the stop. The vehicle surged forward went over the stop and into the freezer and refrigerator pushing then into the wall before I could stop. I was the only witness, although my wife heard the impact. I was unhurt, air bags did not deploy. Freezer and refrigerator totaled, back wall and door will have to be replaced, will need foundation work. Damage appears to be cosmetic, but lower bumper needs replacement. Farm bureau claim # a559124p01 adjuster 515 344 6248, subsequently at a stop sign after ending in the middle of an intersection I dertermined the break issue.

56 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford Ranger

58 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

The advanced trac light stayed on all the time. Took to Ford dealer and costed 100. 00 to check light, they said was restraint control module, it affected brakes, advanced trac, air bags and anti-tip over device. The vehicle only had 3500 miles on it. The part is rediculously priced!! 650. 00 is outrageous!!!.

64 Service Brakes problem of the 1994 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 08/13/2015

Noticed a clunking noise if the right front of the vehicle during turning, stopping and going over small bumps. Figured it would be something simple and took it to my mechanic. He said it was a rusted frame mount and to take it to a body shop. So I did and the second opinion was that the frame was rusted completely in two just if front of the right shock mount. I climbed under the vehicle and it truly is rusted completely into two pieces. I don't know what is keep the front right wheel where it belongs. Unsafe to drive. Parked for now. Where do I turn now? no pun intended.

65 Service Brakes problem of the 1995 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 04/13/2015

I was driving at work going from point a to point b and I heard the rear brakes grinding, metal to metal sound, was going about 40 mph, slow down and made it to point b, about 1 mile, in town. . . . Parked and checked under the truck. . . . And discovered the emergency brake cable was stretched tight. . . Crawled under truck and discovered that frame was rusted in half (broken all the way thru) on driver's side and passenger side was almost as bad. . . . Also a cross member was rusted away. . . And the driver's side shock was hanging down (bracket rusted away) truck is now parked at home can't fix it. . . . Had to buy a used van from my boss so I could get to work. . . . . I will have to junk the title in the next few days. . . . Truck runs fine but just can't fix a rusted out frame. . . Not safe for anyone to drive. . . By the way the end of the frame where the rear bumper attaches rusted about 18 months ago and had to put 1/2 inch steel in to reattach it. . . . The frame was a little rusty at that time but no holes or breaks. . . . I think Ford should compensate all Ranger owners for rusted out frames, I have read blogs and there are a lot of these Ranger frames rusted out. . . I have pictures if needed. . .

67 Service Brakes problem of the 2002 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 12/13/2014

My son was driving his Ford Ranger xl 2002 when due to a pedestrian, the car in front of him slammed on their brakes causing my son to rear end them. Snowy weather was a factor. The brakes didn't catch as they should have. His airbags blew up, not deploy- blew up and caught fire! the steering wheel blew up! extensive damage occurred to the steering column steering wheel and dashboard components. The starter went out and the truck would not start. Insurance deemed the truck totaled. Obviously the airbags were defective!! was there a recall concerning any of these components that we were never informed of? what compensation is available to us for this obvious manufacturers defect?.

Malfunction/failure of vehicle abs unit. Failure occurred intermittently and then permanently in the fall/winter of 2014. Vehicle is 10 years old but had less than 30 thousand miles, and has been garaged for its entire operational life. It took several months for independent mechanic to be able to acquire new oem abs unit, implying that many other vehicles are experiencing this unit failure. Narrowly avoided several accidents due to brakes locking up during emergency braking. Receipt for repair is attached.

70 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford Ranger

Failure Date: 03/02/2014

Truck shifter is sticking, the antilock light trouble light comes on and truck will not shift from park. My son who is a mechanic says the brake switch is bad, you have to step on brake and wait for a click then the vehicle will shift into gear. So I tried this and indeed is the issue. This truck only has 40k miles on it. Problem started at about 30k miles I did not know that the issue was a switch. I just thought the shifter was sticking. I had complained of this problem to dealership but it never was bad when they looked at it. Now it is getting to point of being a problem. The trouble light only comes on after trying to put truck into gear, then light stays on for random amount of time. Truck was stationary to begin with. It doesn't matter where location is, it is random timing when this occurs.
