Engine Noise Problems of Ford Ranger

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger 2. 3l 4 cyl an when I start to drive my car will shift from 1st to 2nd so rough that my car jumps forward and then my overdrive light starts blinking and then everytime I press the gas from stopped it shifts very rough. I have been researching this problem and seems like a lot of people have this problem with this model. Also when I take off there is a loud vibration sounding like it is coming from the dash or engine compartment I don't know what this is about but figured I would add that in.

The consumer stated that the 1998 Ford Ranger engine was making noise and the spark plug had blew out of the cylinder. This happened while driving 20 mph. The vehicle had considerably less power after the loss of the spark plug. The consumer replaced the spark plug earlier today. When the consumer found that the spark plug failed it was hanging by its wires. The consumer had not contacted Ford at this time. The dealer had not been contacted at this point. (11/15/05).

While driving up an incline vehicle made noise and lost power. Vehicle was taken to dealer on two separate occasions, but problem recurred.

Vehicle idles below 500 rpms. The engine sounds rough, and acts like it is going to stall. Then, it returns to normal.
