On may 18, 2000 I had a blowout of a front tire on a clear stretch of suburban road. When I went to change the tire, I found the metal threads had come through the tire. There were no objects in the tire and there was nothing visible on the road that I would have run over. I took the tire to a tire company in the atlanta area and it could not be repaired because of the amount of damage. The weather conditions in atlanta, GA were hotter than normal for may on the day of the blowout. I was driving approximately 50 mph. I have very low mileage on the Ford Ranger truck, less then 21,000 miles. The tires were the original ones. The truck has not been used for any type of heavy hauling. I was driving on the highway when my rear tire blew. It was a clear day , nothing in the road. After having my tire inspected by at least 3 different indivisuals no one could come up with any reason why it blew other than it being a defective tire. I have since replaced all 4 of my tires with dunlops. But thought it important enough to report incase there are more of this size tires failing also. ( dot number: w29v1pk245 tire size: p26575r15 ).
On Feb 12 2000, something happened to the front (driver side) tire - it buckled off the rim. The accident happened on a curve at the top of a hill. Because of the curve the travel speed was around 20 to 25 miles an hour. The tire came off the rim, my son could not control the truck, the truck hit an embankment, and the truck rolled over. We contacted our insurance company (nationwide), they took the truck to a recovery /loss center. We asked if some one would investigate why the tire would have come off the rim and they said tires blow out all the time. We were happy no one was hurt and accepted the answer. But every day I hear more about the recall on the firestone tires and I am concerned there are other problems, besides the tread separation. I do not believe the tire had tread separation. But I also believe we were very lucky the accident happened at a slow speed. Some one could have been seriously injured or killed if the tire would have blown out on the highway going 65. ( dot number: tire size: p21575rx15 ).
The front right tire blew out at 60 mph earlier this year. My local firestone dealer replaced the tire under the road hazard warranty but would not pay for the damage to the Ford Ranger. Usaa has the damage report and firestone has the tire failure report. The only thing I have are the pictures of the failed wilderness at 16 inch tire. I'm concerned about the remaining tires. (dot number: ? tiresize: p235/70r16).
I have had two blow outs on these tires since I bought this truck. The first was @ 10,000 miles & the second @ 20,000 miles. After seeing the report on khou-TX in houston I think my tires have the same problem. ( dot number: ).

I was returning from the state fair in milwaukee WI with my son. While traveling north thur fond du lac, WI the rear driver side tire blew out. Was able to pull over to the side of road. Only the side walls of the tire remained. I had checked all four tires before leaving the camp grounds in the half hour before the tire failed. As a otr truck driver I've expernced serveral type's of tire failure, recaps, hot/cold weather, etc. After veiwing the tire, I was alarmed because the trend was totaly gone. All that remained was two sidewalls and a dented rim. (dot number: dont have tiresize: p225/70r14).

The vehicle went off the right side of the road to avoid an oncoming vehicle in my lane. I corrected my vehicle to come back onto the roadway and when I turned back to the right, the right fron tire blew and the weight shiften from the weak springs in the rear, rolling my vehicle five times. The vehicle speed control was on at the time of the accident. Although the tires were original equipment, they were oversized (16 inch, off-road package) and unsafe for this vehicle. The 16 inch tires are no longer being put onto Rangers. (dot number: vd tiresize: p235/70r16).
Dot # reported above is for another tire in the original equipment set of 5, not the failed tire. While traveling 55 mph on freeway, tire blew out for no apparent reason. I was able to steer safely off the highway on an exit ramp and change the tire. When I took the tire to a dealer (big o tires), the mechanic could give me no explanation for the blow out. All remaining tires were properly inflated and in acceptable condition. ( dot number: vnfc1pr126 tire size: p225/70r14 ).

I have already blown a tire and both Ford and firestone have said that my perticulier size tire has not been recalled. But throughout my entire driving I have never had this happen.
