Purchased vehicle on 10/06/2022. Within a week noticed surging and /or loss of power. I also smelled buring of some sort. Contacted the dealership and tried to make arrangements for car to be diagnosed and repaired. Codes began to show on the dash. When I took it to be read it showed throttle issues. On 10/18/2022 I was at a complete stop at a stop sign. When I released the brake and touched the gas the car unexpectedly sured at high speed on its own. My vehicle hit another vehicle causing major damage to both cars. It was extremely terrifying having my car take off at a high rate of speed without me in control. This now has caused tremendous hardship financially, emotionally and I now have legal issues due to this accident that was no fault of my own.

Vehicle is now on 2nd transmission the original transmission failed around 60000 miles Ford originally put a brand new transmission in it for previous owner documentation was provided when we purchased the vehicle since move unknown where it's at now but this transmission has only 67000 miles on it experiencing same problems sometimes it will slip between 2nd and 3rd year other times it will slip between 1st and 2nd year sometimes they won't let it go over drive other times he gets stuck in overdrive no rhyme no reason for why it does what it does it just seems to do what it wants when it was but it really sucks when you're on the highway driving 75 mile an hour and decided to come out of overdrive and get stuck in 2nd gear so you have to slow down in front of everybody and it kind of forces you to do so that could easily get someone killed going from 75 mile an hour to stuck in 2nd year limited speed very quickly with no brake lights original transmission apparently has something to do with the torque converter or non hearted metals I'm not exactly sure because we were not in possession of owning the vehicle when it was replaced.

The throttle body threw a code. My car lost "power' and stalled. It went into limp mode. Became inoperable. My four year old, his dad, and my safety was at risk due to this happening on a rural road on a hill. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere and an hour and a half away from home. The dealership replaced the throttle bottle, accelerator pedal, reprogrammed it, and it still will not function normally. I am out of a car and that is not okay. They only warning sign there was happened to be a wrench and that's it.

The rear backup camera is showing upside down. It is very difficult to see the blind spot area just to the rear of the vehicle when backing without the camera on this 2012 Ford Taurus. I consider it a safety issue in which I have had several close calls backing since the camera shows pointing upward toward the sky more than it did and upside down. I decided to report this problem when I missed seeing a kid behind me at a wal-mart parking lot. This problem started in mid September 2022. I have researched this issue on line and there are many complaints about this problem from other people about the 2012 Taurus and other types of Ford automobiles and trucks.

The future that failed on my vehicle was the epas or electronic power assisted steering. This feature failed while I was on the freeway at upwards of 65 mph the steering wheel locked and I was unable to turn the steering wheel. After pulling off of the freeway at slow speeds I was able to give a, very hard like pull to the steering wheel in the direction that I needed it to go. When this feature failed the notification on my dash showed "electronic power assisted steering failure. Service required. " definitely is a danger not only to myself but other drivers on the road who could have been innocently impacted by my car as a failure to be able to steer in the correct direction. This issue is known on 2010 to 2018 Ford vehicles and has been recalled on only certain vehicles not upwards of 2015. Now I'm unable to use my vehicle as I'm not able to steer it.

While the contact’s daughter was driving approximately 40 mph, several unknown warning lights illuminated, the steering wheel became difficult to turn, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contacts daughter was able unable to pull over but was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing spark plugs, coolant, and radiator replaced. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. Fuel pump control module failure. No start intermittent. Could have been stuck 5 hours away if it would've been a week earlier. No warning lights or indications previously.
The rear back up camera has stopped working properly and most of the time it's not working at all making it a safety risk maneuvering in reverse when children or other pedestrians are around.
I went to start the car and it would not roll over, acted as the battery had no charge. Opened the hood to attach jumper cables and seen smoke coming from the positive. Peeled back the red cover and seen there was a thick layer of blue corrosion caked all over the positive. The car was last driven within two hours prior. Last service was performed within 6 months. The acid ate through the clamp for the positive. The corrosion was removed and the battery was taken out. There are three small holes at the base of the positive knob where the acid came out. I researched online and found this is a common problem among Ford vehicles, specifically Taurus vehicles.

On 9/26/21, I was driving my 2013 Ford Taurus on the highway, when suddenly lost power steering. Two error messages immediately appeared on the dashboard: "service advancetrac" and "power steering fault". I managed to pull the car over safely, however this was an extremely dangerous situation that could have led to an accident. The car was brought to watertown Ford, 26 seyon street, waltham MA, 02453. The Ford technician confirmed that multiple diagnostic codes were present (related to the steering rack and pcsm - power steering control module), and indicated that the power steering rack needed to be replaced at a cost of $2,700. Upon further research, I noticed that Ford opened a recall program for 2013 Ford Taurus models pertaining to this exact issue. I called Ford, but was informed that my VIN number was not included in the recall, and did not receive an explanation why. Ford's number for this recall is 15s18. Nhtsa campiagn number is 15v605000. I'm shocked that this was not covered under Ford's recall program, and that I was forced to pay $2,700 in order to have a completely new power steering rack installed. I'm quite fearful that this will occur again in the future. I have attached the invoice from watertown Ford for reference.
Hvac system has malfunctioned. The system turns on but no fan motor, heat, a/c, or defroster. Fogged windows have caused dangerous driving conditions an independent service center has confirmed this problem all other information is unknown.

The contact stated that after an oil change at a local dealer, the contact was informed that the auxiliary battery wiring harness was failing and needed to be replaced. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that this failure was a series of failures of the vehicle. The contact previously had the fuel pump and the fuel tank mounting bolts replaced. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 16v621000 (fuel system, gasoline) and NHTSA campaign number: 15v605000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact stated that she had not found a recall for the auxiliary battery wiring harness. The contact stated that the dealer had diagnosed the failure of the wiring harness but that the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
Rear camera is not responding resulting in the inability to see persons or objects in fear camera screen while in reverse. It stopped working on 08/13/2021. The screen states " contact the dealer " error message. Touch screen not responding to access settings for rear camera, climate, navigation, ect.

Power steering (electrical system for this car) does not work on startup. Takes about 5 seconds to activate. Havenot experienced this on the road (yet). Check of outstanding recall repairs when entering VIN # in your webpage, shows no outstanding repairs. Howevver, I bought this vehicle with 0 miles and havenot had this repair done (I never got a recall notice). This malfunction has happened reeatedly in the last 3 weeks.
I purchased the car a week ago from a dealership and sadly that the car was as is. At the time nothing was wrong with the car, and 2 days later after the car apim system started malfunctioning, I restarted the system and that did not work. I took to a dealership and they did the same thing I did and it is still the same. Dealership stated it could be the apim malfunctioning on the car and it was going to cost me $900 to get it fixed. I haven't had the car for a week and things are already going bad. No warning light appeared before the incident happened and nobody was hurt.
I was driving with my wife on the highway on June 26th, 2021. As I was going around a turn to the right I had a warning come up saying to service advance trac. Right as that happened my steering wheel locked up straight almost causing me to crash. I do not know what could have caused this. I have gotten both my battery and alternator checked and they both are completely fine. I am getting my recall taken care of on Thursday July the 6th so it will be looked over then to see what may have been the cause of it but a toe link would not cause something like this to happen. Ive asked family members that have been mechanics for over 10 years that don’t know what could have caused that to happen.
My power steering went out. It said power steering assist fault. And I could not turn my wheel. Fortunately I was parked. I just could not turn the wheel to move. I turned the car off and back on again and the warning went away and I could move the wheel again. Worried it will happen again while in motion.
Vehicle was in motion on roadway when unexpectedly combusted from the rear passenger area where the fuel tank and pump is located, the entire car was burned and caused a total loss.
Basically I was driving and stopped and my house and while in ideal the wiring under the hood and under the fender into the dash all started to melt together shorting the systems so I tried to repair and replace the parts due to being a used vehicle and didn't know how to report this until now. So I cut the melted chunk of wiring harnesses out and trashed it. But I stopped due to the inability to find any replacement harnesses from Ford or Mercury so now my car has been sitting for several months. I have only been able to find melted harnesses on junk yard cars. Ford used poor quality 16 gauge wiring that the outer coating became brittle and easily frayed. Every wiring harness I've seen has bad spots from wires melting or breaking and corroding. I'm my case the wiring melted causing the cooling system to stop working properly and almost damaged or may have damaged my engine. I don't have full coverage so I am forced to park it and do what I can myself which has made me lose my job and ruined my life. Please do look into this I'm sure more people have the same issue just check a junk yard and you'll see what I mean. Thank you for your time I will try to provide any further information or help if needed anyway I can to make sure someone doesn't get hurt.

03/16/2021 was the purchase date. The battery was pretty much dead when we took it in for its first oil change (about a month after purchase), they may still have record of it. The check engine light has been on since June. The front head light wiring was faulty, not sure if the person has any record of it. But I can ask that finally got fixed in December. The check engine light was only read at the auto store. Unfortunately due to me losing my job, the cobuyer (my fiancé) has been responsible for all bills and we can’t afford to have it looked at in depth. We purchased a limited warranty when we got the car, but every time we contacted them. They were rude and very put off. They made it seem like we were the issue and not the car. And they never let us bring it in to have it looked at. We are paying almost $475 for a car that has had major problems since purchasing it.
I bought this vehicle used from a lot. It had 2 previous owners and came with all the service history. I first noticed the vehicle seemed like it didn’t want to go into overdrive . It would get to about 70 mph which would have the rpm’s at 3k! the 2nd time or so that we got it to these speeds (on interstate) the vehicle suddenly clunked , steering wheel jerked , vehicle lost power - I had my 2 children in the vehicle and I was pregnant. We had to pull over immediately . After sitting side the road for a few , it crunk up and we rode out . Only for it to happen 2 more times. And this is not the only thing effected by this . Not long after I got it , I started noticing a hard shift / clunk / slam when going into gear and especially when the vehicle has just tried to downshift and I pressed the gas again . Due to this , I’m unable to tell when and if we can pull out into traffic and such. I must time it good in order to not risk getting t boned etc. Also, with 3 kids in tow , a vehicle slamming their necks and heads is dangerous and scary. So , I’ve had some work done on . Trying to help my issue. Apparently my issue is the same as a lot of others . Which is an intermittent issue . And apparently no matter if all the passed recalls were addressed. Or if the owners of the vehicle serviced it often and currant . Or if the pcm was reflashed , replaced etc - the Ford Taurus x will continue to have these issues . And these issues seem to be the same issues that were addressed in the Ford recall in 2020 ( which didn’t include the Taurus x) and previous recalls . This drivertrain transmission has been an issue for the Taurus x since forever . Please check into this. Last thing we need is whiplash or life flights from this .
I noticed on the Ford pass app that there was a warranty extension for the apim on the sync system. They (Ford) explained to me that the notification was sent to a previous owner and not me (I have owned the car since 2016). They now say this extension is expired and the cost would have to be my responsibility.
2010 Ford Taurus sho. Power steering failure while driving down the freeway at high speeds. Very dangerous. Display says servive power steering now. All other models after 2010 have already been recalled for this same issue. This is very dangerous, very expensive, and very disappointing!.

Twice the power went off on my car while driving on the highway. I was lucky to be able to pull off the road. Waited a few minutes and got power back. The car makes noise when going down the road, and I have always been told that the Ford Taurus does this. They said nothing was wrong. The noise is where you wonder if you are safe, and probably would never find a buyer for the vehicle. The car sounds like an electrical problem sometimes from the radio, and when I use the phone. Weird. The blue lights on the dash board can be blinding. Had my eyes checked by a specialist and not my eyes. One time I had left my car running in park in the driveway and when walking around to the other side of the car, the car rolled out of my driveway and damaged the door on the garage door. Obviously the car losing power twice on a highway is a serious issue. This happened two years ago, and two months ago was the second time.
I bought a 2007 Ford Taurus sel from a dealership oct ,2020 3 months after having we pulling up to a stop light and it was like the car wanted to take off by it's self and then when the light turned green we started to drive and it just shut off in the middle of traffic we had to get out and push it to the side almost got hit by the car behind us and the on coming cars I've had it serviced for tune and oil changes fuil system flush everything and they can never find anything wrong with it but a miscellaneous leak that they can not find where it's coming from and now we'll first in sept we came home one day ate dinner then we were going to go to movies we got in the car and the car would not start the alarm sound then everything went dim and auto theft blinked and car shut off we tried starting it it would not start finally got a jump it started and a little bit and then in on November 3rd we went to leave again and it would not start it was making a ticking sound then we had to get a jump and it start and we got in the car left got around the corner then all the lights on dash board like flashed and everything went dark and car shut off had to get it jumped it started but lights never came back on and so we took it to shop next day told them what happened they could not find nothing wrong and then December 15 same thing and then long story short we had it hooked up to machine and they said something about ptu at the shop I don't know what's going on I did some research of my own and there seems to be alot of simulator issues with other people's Taurus as well.
It will just cut off in the middle of nowhere want crank the gas hand will go up and it will say it doesn't have gas then I turn the car off let it sit then the gas hand will go up . I can let the car run it can be on a half tank then let it run about 10mins then its on empty tank of gas. . It will just stop in the street.
Power steering fault 81000 miles. 2015 Ford Taurus limited.
When driving on the highway using adaptive cruise control it will shut off and say collision warning not available/ adapted cruise control not available it is intermittent but has not been working for 2 days now. As well as if not working normal cruise control doesn't work.
Apim module failure, 2017 Ford Taurus. Car was bought new from dealer. Apim failed after 2. 5 years. Will cost approx $900 to fix. In 2013, Ford issued service action number 12m02 for apims in 2011-2013 vehicles because they also failed. This is a known issue for Ford, and from what I have seen on the lists of Ford complaints, it looks like this is still a problem. I hope Ford will make this right and extend this warranty. Otherwise they will have a lot of unhappy customers.
