Horn Assembly Problems of Ford Taurus

Tl-the contact owns a 1998 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the horn became inoperable as the service engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,230. Beginning shortly after my car was out of its 3,000 mile used car warranty, when car was parked and locked the horn began to go off anytime anywhere - up to 5-6 times a day. Why is this a safety concern? because the only way to avoid waking ourselves and neighbors up at night or having car alarm go off multiple times during day at work was to have a Ford tech disconnect the horn! I did so after the problem continued for many months - and now, with horn off, it still continues (lights blink and flash), just noiselessly. Incredible! only workaround besides disconnecting horn was to leave the car unlocked - not an option.

My '99 Taurus daytime driving lights flicker to the point where I had to pull the fuse. I had one incident where I couldn't turn off the lights. Yesterday when I set the alarm, the horn didn't beep so now the horn doesn't work either. I have had problems with the lights going on and flickering when the car is off.

When you hit the horn the engine tries to cut out and the check engine light comes on. When that happens the car jerks really bad like you slammed on the brakes. Also the cruise control only works half the time. Nothing has been done to correct this yet. It is going into the shop in a week.

Consumer states that horn works intermittently,may cause an accident,due to the fact horn may not work at a critical time. Nlm.

Consumer states can not use 2 or more vehicle accessories at the same time. If uses windshield wipers, horn will not operate or vice-versa. Mr.
