The contact owns a 2005 GMC Envoy xl 370. While driving at approximately 35 mph, the engine stalled and all of the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Engine stalled a few seconds after starting, then would not crank, only clicked. I had the car towed in for service. Technician checked battery. It was fully charged and vehicle had full voltage. Diagnostics determined low voltage out from the ignition switch. Recommended ignition switch should be replaced. I had the ignition switch replaced twice already. I have had to replace three ignition switches in three years at a total cost of $817. I understand that gm has recalled ignition switches on several models but the Envoy is not part of that recall. Obviously my vehicle has the same problem as the recalled vehicles, why is it not part of the recall? the first ignition switch failed at 65-70 mph on the freeway. This is a very dangerous problem. Since the rest of the electronics are connected to the ignition I have no safety equipment such as air bags. If I would have been in an accident, it could have been fatal.

The contact owns a 2004 GMC Envoy xl. The contact stated that when the vehicle was idle for a prolonged period of time, the engine would stall upon initial startup. The engine warning light was illuminated prior to start-up however, the engine would not respond. The contact was able to start the vehicle after several attempts, which resumed normally. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The manufacturer was alerted about the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was unavailable.
The "check gauges" light flashes followed by "low oil pressure" followed by "stop engine" and the engine stalls. Each time this happens the ac has been on. Sent to dealer and they were unable to reproduce this issue. Has happened 3 times now. Very scary.
Engine stalls when you slow down and the air conditioner or widow defogger is on . I have also had power surging. I had to replace the map sensor twice and the bracket and it is still showing bad. I also replace the cam shaft position sensor and the thermostat. Also the wiper on the rear will not spray any water or washer.
The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy denali. While driving approximately 60 mph, the electronic stability control and traction control warning indicators began to illuminate. Immediately there was a substantial reduction in the speed rate. The failure occurred repeatedly whenever the vehicle was in operation. On two separate occasions the engine stalled without prior warning and restarted after waiting a few moments. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer seven different times. The ecm was reprogrammed and there were no additional repairs performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the constant malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000.
I purchased a used 2004 GMC Envoy slt, with an extended warranty from grand prix auto group, hicksville, NY in August 2008. Soon after purchasing the car it stalled while we were at a red light. Immediately brought the truck back to the dealer and they said they fixed it, may I mention it never stopped stalling. Then the speedometer broke again. It constantly says I'm traveling 120 miles an hour. Once again, brought it back to the dealer, they tell me I need to go to a GMC dealer, I do, they replace the information cluster and speedometer, had to pay a $ 300. 00 deductible. This was in March 2009. Driving the other day October 2009 and the speedometer once again says 120. Get pulled over, get a ticket for a broken speedometer. The officer was aware I was not traveling at that speed, and even when I tried to explain, wanted to hear none of it. So now here I am again, broken speedometer, engine that stalls often and a summons to boot. I need help and I don't know where else to turn the dealerships are of no help. Jacqueline king.
2002 GMC Envoy slt. Engine stalls at highway speeds. Loss of power brakes and steering. Engine will not restart for anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. This is the 5th time that this has happened to me in the past 4 years. 4 times on the freeway and once on a surface road. This time I was with my wife and 11 month old daughter. I was not able to pull the car over to a safe location. I ended up in the left shoulder in next to the fast lane with only about a foot of space to my right where the cars were whizzing by. I cannot tell you the terror that I felt, as my daughter was in her child car seat on that side as the cars passed honking. This vehicle is very unsafe. I have read many internet postings and it appears that this problem occurs often with this make and model, yet whenever I take the vehicle to the dealership all I get no codes are displayed, we cant duplicate the problem, or they start throwing parts at it. So far I have replaced a fuel pump and a crank angle sensor, had the fuel injectors cleaned. The problem persists. I want to make sure that my description is clear. The engine temperature is normal, voltage is normal, outside temperature can be hot, warm or cold, it can be day or night. It has happened in all of these conditions. What is worse is that I cannot restart the engine for around 20-30 minutes, presumably there is some sort of reset on the computer ecm/pcm that occurs that grants me the right to now drive my vehicle again? this is unacceptable. My daughter, my wife or I could have been injured or even killed. I have never complained about this before except to the dealer but now that I have a baby, I am livid. I am a very experienced driver and have always been able to pull the vehicle to safety even without the power assisted brakes or steering. I very much worry about less experienced drivers such as my wife who is from a foreign country and has only been driving for two years. If she had been driving we would have.

Engine stalled while driving down an incline without any indication until applying the brakes to find the power brakes had been lost. Weather conditions were slick and the vehicle started to spin and could not be corrected due to loss of power steering. Vehicle could not be slowed using the lower engine gears. Once the vehicle coasted to a stop, the battery light came on. The vehicle was put in park, turned the key to the engine-off position and then on. Onstar diagnostics did not detect any problems in system tests. Fuel level was approx. 3 gallons. ************************************************************************************************** failure almost caused an accident of running over a pedestrian and collision with other vehicles (no control and no warning from the vehicle systems of stall). This is the second incident; initial incident occurred while leaving inclined driveway - potential of entering roadway. My child was riding as a passenger in the vehicle for both incidents. ***************************************************************************************************.

2005 GMC Envoy xl purchase April 29, 2006 just a few weeks later my drive shaft was replaced. A few weeks later while trying to merge into heavy traffic off of the express way engine died. Vehicle is now at the dealership for the 5th time for same problem of engine stalling dealer has not been able to find problem. Drivers side door panel rattling and finally broke.
: the contact stated while driving uphill at no particular speed, the engine stalls and operates at a reduced speed. Additionally, the headlights intermittently work at night and the gas gauge provides an incorrect display of the proper fuel level. Although the vehicle was seen by a dealer numerous times, the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. The consumer stated the electrical system is faulty. The left front window dropped the lights became dim and the battery failed. Updated 04/06/06.
I bought my GMC Envoy in January 2004 for approx. $42,000. This car has everything. After about 2 months of the purchase, my gps went out and had been fixed twice. My brakes do not always work --sometimes they slip especially when I need them most -which is scary. GMC said that they have heard about this problem before, but did nothing to resolve the problem. The engine stalls periodically. GMC said they do not know why. The gas gauge and odometer do not work properly. When I brought my vehicle into north county GMC dealership in san diego for repairs I mentioned my gas gauge did not work along with many of the other issues. After they repaired the odometer by replacing the cluster, the gas gauge still did not work. Every single time these problems happen I am forced to pay a $100 service charge just so they can look at it and because I am in sales, I am also forced to get a rental car. After all this, I am still quite displeased with GMC. I hate to say it but they are supposed to be the best american car ã‚??professional gradeã‚?? and if this is true I will never buy an american vehicle again. GMC said they would be checking on all these problems and every single time I picked my Envoy up after they supposedly fixed the problems, I found several issues still unresolved. They suggest I need to set another meeting to bring my Envoy in and of course will cost another $100.
: the contact stated while attempting to apply brake pressure at 5 mph or less the engine stalls without warning. The dealership was alerted. Updated 04/14/06.

The vehicle was in service 3 times within 14 days, gm says the problem was the ignition switch, I say the source of the problem has not been fixed. Engine stalled 6 times in moving traffic, the "abs" warning light is on, some time the "check engine soon" light comes on. Dealer replaces throttle body injection assembly. Next day the vehicle stalls again with same symptoms. Dealer replaced ignition switch again. !4 hours later engine stalls in moving traffic. Dealer installs event recording device, engine stalls and identified low ignition voltage (6. 7 vs 13. 6 vdc). Source of problem could not be identified, dealer says vehicle is safe to drive. We filed a lemon law claim.
Driving on the interstate at 70 miles per hour, without warning the engine stalled. No crank and the car would not restart. Panel lights operational, abs and emergency brake warning lights illuminated. Car is currently at dealership awaiting repairs.
While waiting to proceed in traffic with foot on brake and car in drive, engine suddenly stalled out and was unable to be restarted. Also, driverside mirror keeps resetting when unlocking the automatic doors. Wipers don't function properly when in intermittent mode. Car is at dealer now, hopefully they can resolve this. Vehicle is equipped with rainsense automatic rain sensing wipers. Rainsense works only when in intermittent mode. Settings adjust sensitivity of wipers but not frequency. Wiper fails to make a complete smooth pass across windshield. They stop several times during their sweep and stutter. After a few second pause they resume their sweep. Wipers work fine when set to standard high or low wiper settings.
Engine stalls, causing consumer to wait a half an hour to start vehicle again. This has happened three times. Dealer has inspected vehicle and could not duplicate or correct the problem. Please provide further information. Also, abs failure.
*April 3, 2002 I took a CO-worker to lunch that afternoon when upon returning to our place of employment the vehicle stalled without notice. I was traveling southbound on route 17 in allendale, which is a divided highway. All power to the engine was lost, including control of the acceleration, anti-lock brakes and power steering. I was able to coax the vehicle into the company parking lot but was unable to restart the vehicle. 6, 2002 I was on my way home that evening and the vehicle stalled without notice. I was traveling northbound on booton rd in Lincoln park, with is a four-lane road. All power to the engine was lost, including control of the acceleration, anti-lock brakes and power steering. I was able to coax the vehicle onto a side residence street but was unable to restart the vehicle. 9, 2002 I was on my way home that evening and the vehicle stalled without notice. I was about to turn onto booton rd in wayne and was completely stopped at an intersection. Prior to the light change, the engine stalled and I was unable to restart the engine. As a result I was blocking an intersection that was an outlet for route 23, a divided highway. After 20 minutes, the police came and blocked off traffic behind me. I subsequently had the vehicle towed. 11, 2002 I was on my way to a car wash in wayne after picking up the vehicle that morning. I had traveled approximately sixty miles from the time that I picked up the vehicle. I was next in line to receive a car wash and the vehicle stalled without notice. All power to the engine was lost, including control of the acceleration, anti-lock brakes and power steering. 24 - I was traveling south on NJ turnpike to newark airport. I stopped to collect the toll entry ticket when the vehicle stalled. I pushed the vechicle to the 'unprotected' center median, between two lanes of opposing traffic.
While driving about 45 mph, engine will suddenly stall without prior warning. Has happened twice. Has contacted dealer . Consumer added this condition has happended 3 times, dealer changed board in the computer system, however consumer does not feel that the problem is remedied.
2002 GMC Envoy engine stalls while stopped at traffic light. Sometimes a near-stall condition occurs whereby the engine idle dips really low, engine shudders, then idle recovers. This usually happens just before or after the air compressor for the rear suspension inflates. So far the pcm, throttle body, and ignition switch have been replaced. Dealer is currently making 4th attempt to fix problem. Problem has been occurring since 8/2002.
