Only 8 years old and 140,000 miles the exhaust manifold has cracked allowing exhaust fumes to enter the interior of the car. I have had no accidents with this car and I see no reason why the manifold should crack. I have had cars longer then this that never had this problem. Manifolds should not just crack.

Our 2008 GMC Envoy kept on getting louder and louder as time went on and when I went to check it out I found that the exhaust manifold had a crack in it about 3. 5 inches long. If feel that this should be a recall do to I changed 3 od them in other GMC Envoys in the last 6 months. I own a state inspection repair garage in pennsylvania. This is a very poor layout by gm. Also the secoundaryair pump on this same vehicle is a command problem. And the wiper spray nosal is also another command poor design.

I started my vehicle in the am and it made a loud muffled noise. Took it to the mechanic and he showed me a picture of a crack in th exhaust manifold. I looked online and saw recalls for other years and models for GMC and chevy. I think the 2008 chevy Envoy should be included. It seems to be that the manifold is defective.
I started my vehicle on Monday morning and it was unusually loud. After inspection, I found my manifold was cracked.
Exhaust manifold cracked. Gm has a special extended warrenty on model years 2008-2009 only. Yet they are the same manifold and same engine on all model years. There are 100's of reports of cracked manifolds online, with all model years.
Exhaust manifold bolts broken, causing uncatalyzed exhaust emissions under hood and resulting in increased CO (carbon monoxide) levels entering the cabin through the hvac system during engine operation at slow speeds or while parked.

The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised the contact that the engine was running lean and they were unable to make repairs until the component had actually failed. The manufacturer was later contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000. Updated 05/08/lj the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. The intake manifold needed to be tightened. Updated 05/14/12.
The contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. While driving approximately 45 mph, smoke and flames emitted from under the hood. The contact was able to exit the vehicle and with assistance, the flames were extinguished. There was no personal injury. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who advised that the failure was contributed to the wiring harness being positioned too close to the exhaust manifold. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.

Exhaust manifold on Envoy 2005, 4. 2 engine. Crack in the manifold this is a serious issue and seems to be common. This issue should be a recallable item by gm. This effects our environment and safety.
