When braking the brakes make a noise and have lost vacuum power and gone straight to the floor numerous times. The first time was when attempting to brake when going down an incline to turn into a parking lot. A slight bump when braking and the brake pedal went to the floor. A few seconds later, I was able to brake again. This has happened more often on wet or slippery surfaces. On 07/21/00 I was in a parking lot when another car was pulling in front of me. The surface was still wet and slippery and when braking, the brake pedal made a noise and then all braking ability is lost, the brake pedal goes to the floor. Luckily there was no accident. This problem has happened to me numerous times. I brought my vehicle in for the abs recall the end of 1999 and told the dealership about the problem. They couldn't find anything wrong. I travel a lot with my family and a braking problem is very scary!!!.
While driving at about 30 consumer tried to put on brakes before coming to the intersection and brake pedal went to the floor. While traveling in rush hour traffic at a speed of 50 mph consumer tried to apply the brakes to stop and the abs did not allow maximum braking to stop vehicle.
Had just placed vehicle in cruise control. Inadvertently pushed shift too far into neutral. This caused engine to roar & not leave cruise control. Applied brakes quickly & vehicle went into a skid. Abs did not work. Hit an embankment & rolled over. Engine was disconnected.

This is the second Jimmy I drive (too loyal for my own good. ) the first one a 1995. Also had a booster failure at around 40,000+ miles (luckily I was able to coast on that occasion to a full stop without causing any damage to anyone. This one a 1996 has failed, like clockwork, at 45,000 miles.
While driving at 20mhp brakes gave out. When applied the brake pedal went to the floor, and brakes made a grinding sound. The vehicle stopped after coasting about 30 feet. Dealer was contacted, and told consumer that they could find nothing wrong with brake system.
Very poor brakes, pedal spongy and has been since 20000 miles or less. Dealer contacted company and no response other than some spongy knees is normal. Been living with miserable brakes until recent nearly disasterous accident because the brakes went to floor with no real affect. Able to push brake to floor easily with constant light pressure. Dealer says that now to fix will be expensve even though the vehicle always had lousy brakes.
While driving vehicle about 40 mph the rear brakes do not stop vehicle. Dealer was contacted.
Abs brakes have been replaced three times. When brakes are applied they vibrate and extended stopping distance occurs. Brakes wear out. Right wheel seems loose. Dealer contacted and attempted to remedy the problem. Problem still exists.
The defective braking system malfunctioned due to a electronic braking module which resulted in loss of braking system. The pedal went to the floor which almost resulted an accident. Dealer replaced electronic braking module and the valve assembly.
Upon applying brakes, vehicle slowed down, then suddenly accelerated, causing accident. (qcaw).
Consumer was coming off a ramp at approximately 15-20 mph went to apply brakes when vehicle began to pulsate, and felt as though vehicle was accelerating instead of slowing down. Heard noise and wheel rotating. Vehicle proceeded to roll forward for at least 20 feet, causing the consumer to rearend vehicle in front. Dealer cannot determine problem.
Vehicle ahead stopped suddenly. Consumer applied brakes hard, vehicle required exdended stopping distance and rear ended vehicle ahead.
While driving applied brakes hard when vehicle ahead stopped suddenly, pedal went all the way to the floor, causing extended stopping distance, resulting in a rear end collision.
When driver attempted to stop, the abs came on. The vehicle slid for 5. 5 feet on hard gravel before hitting a set of stairs where it stopped.

Going about 40mph when brakes were applied. The brake pedal went to the floor. This caused the vehicle to have created extended stopping distance. Took to dealer & was informed nothing wrong with abs brakes.
When foot pressure is applied to the brakes, they do not respond like they should. Vehicle is very slow in stopping. When panic stop had occurred, vehicle did not stop right away.
Brakes: when driving on wet or slippery roads,or hitting a gravel or a pothole at low speed, the abs kicked in. Pushed brake pedal completely to the floor, and the vehicle slowed down and would not stop. Dealer says there is no problem with the brakes.
Abs brakes; when applying the brakes in normal conditions, the brakes locked up/failed to stop the vehicle, causing an accident.
