Abs brake system activates during low speed stopping on dry pavement.
Vehicle exhibiting same systems as NHTSA campaign id number: 05v379000. Took vehicle to dealership to investigate, but was informed that because my vehicle was not on the list of states affected, there was nothing they could do. They could, however, charge me $120 for a diagnosis of the vehicle. I declined. There has been more than one occasion in which other vehicles have almost been hit from the rear as a result of vehicle not being able to stop.
I am experiencing the exact problem that is described regarding the recall of GMC light trucks for abs activation at slow speeds due to corrosion of the hub and wheel assembly. I have a 2004 GMC Sierra denali which, according to GMC, is not included in the massive recall prompted by your investigation. My issue, as described by the dealer, is exactly the same as the issue and reason for recalling those other vehicles.

The antilock brake system is activating at under 10 mph. I have called the GMC hot line and even though I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500 truck which is one of the models identified as being in the recall for this problem I was informed that my vehicles VIN number is not on the list, and that even though I am having the problem that GMC will not cover it.

While riding with a friend in his 2001 silverado pickup, I noticed what seemed to be a grinding sound from the brakes just before the truck came to a stop. About a week ago, around Nov. 1st. My 2003 GMC Sierra pickup started making the same grinding sound, (anti-lock activation). This happens on clear, dry pavement with no reason for the anti-lock system to activate. This problem does not occur every time I stop and I have not been able to make this happen during intentional hard stops. I notice that my stopping distance is extended when this happens. It is my understanding that gm has had a recall in canada for this issue but has not had enough complaints in the us to initiate a recall. My truck has 37,000 miles on it at this time.
The contact stated this vehicle was included in the recall campaign for the abs. The dealer performed the recall repairs, but it did not remedy the problem. The dealer said the problem was the right front hub. The hub has been replaced one time already. After approximately 12,000 miles the vehicle started experiencing the same problems again.
