Attempts to get the part replaced have been met with long delays in gets the parts necessary even though the dealer tells me they show plenty in their warehouse in another state. I first called on 3/29/23 and was told 1-8 weeks. I called again on 6/21/23 and was told they submitted the order again on 5/11/23 and would do so again today. I tried a second dealer in st. Louis and was told the same thing about expecting months of delays on these parts. This recall is from 2022 and if parts are available, why am I not able to get the repairs completed?.

Service airbag light is on. Airbag removed and replaced at owner's expense. Diagnosed electrical concern. Cost not covered by GMC. There has been four airbag recalls on the 2016 GMC sierra since 2016, but none covering total replacement of the airbag. Recalls dated 09-08-2016, 07-10-2017, 11-25-2020, and 07-01-2021. Does not seem logical to me to cover cost for most of the component, but not the airbag itself. This doesn't seem fair. . . $1422. 45.
I get a "service safety restraint system" warning sporadically when driving. No known cause and the vehicle has never been in an accident. This started happening after my last service at capital Buick GMC in smyrna, GA on January 6th, 2023.

However, I keep receiving recall notices and when I look this up on the NHTSA website the status is "recall incomplete".
I took my vehicle into clay cooley, 1251e airport frwy, irving TX. 75062 for oil change, state inspection and recall n202324251. They indicated on the repair invoice that the recall had been completed along with the oil change and inspection on 04/08/2022. However, according to NHTSA on 05/02/2022, the recall is still open for my VIN #. I do not know if there is a delay with the vendor reporting the recall work, but I would like to know if it has been done or not.

Gm issued a recall notice on July 1, 2021, regarding the rear curtain airbags in my sierra. To this date (12/27/21), they have still not provided an eta for getting this remedied. I called the dealership in September, to which they stated it would be another month before they could address it. I am wanting to be proactive to get this issue remedied, but the delay is unacceptable. I am escalating this to get some traction.
I was hit broad side, by driver running red light. He was doing over 50 mph I was hit left side forward of left door. My steering wheel airbag did not deploy fully. The crash caused only the steering wheel bag to deploy but it only came out maybe half way, it smoldered so bad I panicked seeing all the smoke and had to crawl out of my truck after kicking open the passenger door because the nose of the truck is racked to the right the passenger door would not open. Other car had full airbag deployed, all curtains and steering wheel.

General motors sent out email to all gm dealers on 7/1/2021 regarding recall n202324251 which stated until further notice the involved vehicles that are in dealers' possession new or used inventory must be held and cannot be delivered to customers, dealer traded, etc. I traded for this vehicle on 12/3/2021. Called dealership on 2/10/22 to no avail after I received this email about the vehicle I had traded for. I called general motors on 2/11/2022 spoke to christian in customer service. On 2/14/2022 problem was turned over to kianna in regional per christian. Left several meassages for kianna on 2/14/2022. She returned my call on 2/15/2022 and said she would start buy back and that another department handles the buy back, but they have to go through her and that she would call on 2/17/2022 to let me know what was going on with the buy back. She did not call back. Have called several times and left messages since the 17th. Finally got to talk with her on 2/23/2022 for 5 minutes and was told that buy back had to be approved first and was put on hold for 1 hour while she looked up the case on her computer. I am not driving this vehicle. Since it states that roof rail can explode while sitting idle. I want a full refund and the dealer to pick up the vehicle.
