This truck is burning oil faster than it takes us to do an oil change we have to check it once a week to make sure it had oil in it. I have seen online I am not the only one having this issue this year make and model. I want to report this problem.

1. On 05/9/25, the exhaust emissions system malfunctioned, triggering diagnostic trouble code p2c7a (exhaust emissions system failure). This repair, the seventh attempt since June 2024, addressed the same recurring emissions issue previously involving replacements of components such as the nox converter (02/18/25, 03/13/24) and egr valve (02/18/25). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. The p2c7a failure risks limp mode, reducing vehicle power unexpectedly, which is hazardous on highways, especially while towing. Exhaust emissions system malfunctions release excessive pollutants, posing environmental and health risks to others. 3. Yes, the p2c7a code was confirmed by dealer during the 05/9/25 repair, following prior confirmations (e. G. , 03/31/25–04/05/25. 4. The vehicle was inspected by young Chevrolet-Cadillac during multiple repairs (e. G. , 03/31/25, 05/9/25). 5. Yes, the check engine light and onstar emissions alerts appeared prior to the 05/9/25 repair, first noted ~June 2024 (p2c7a onset). Exhaust smell and reduced fuel economy were observed intermittently. Symptoms persisted post-03/31/25 repair, leading to the 05/23/25 service.

Twice in the past month +. On [xxx] my wife and I were on our way to a family wedding and I was driving approx 75 mph on [xxx]. I don't recall if I had cruise control on or not as I rarely use it. There was no vehicle was in front of me for hundreds of yards yet all of a sudden the vehicle started to brake very hard. I accelerated as I did not know what was going on and I had a car in back of me that started to gain. Then last Friday ([xxx}) with my wife following me in her car on [xxx] through ellicott city MD I was traveling at approx 25-30 mph through a very small historic town when all of a sudden the same [xxx] thing happened. Def no cc on . When we got to our destination I asked my wife if she saw my brakes come on suddenly?. She replied yes and said she saw the truck dip hard. I told her the brakes did it again. She said I should call the dealer. I did not as they are useless! then the electronics. On star has a catalog of my complaints. The radio selections I make just disappear from the screen: apple car play disappears from the touch screen and just goes dark. I have to stop the truck. . (per on-star) open the door. . Get out. . Lock it. . Wait 2 minutes. . Get back in . . Restart the truck, and this re-sets the computers(s). Ridiculous! I do not have sirius but the radio goes dark often for about 2-3 seconds. , then comes back on. I was told it is my I-phone is causing this. [xxx]! what does my phone have to do with am/fm radio?? I was told by GMC there is a patch to update the software. Koons GMC told me there was no such patch nor recall. I am unsure except for what they told me the engine completely seized up I was heading back from grand junction colorado over vail pass nothing appeared wrong with the engine it was going fine and then completely powered itself down and stopped at the top of the pass would not come back on cost me 1100 to tow it down from a mountain getting no assistance from GMC other than they tell me one thing the dealer tells me another this is not the first time I've had problems with this it was in the shop from December through February no reimbursements no nothing nothing but problems since I bought it no help I've tried to do my best but my husband passed away at the time of all this was going on I could really use some guidance and some answers and what I should do they're telling me 8 to 10 weeks and they're not promising any kind of new warranty with this engine take what I have or buy an extended one from them that just doesn't right.

Gm has acknowledged there is a safety risk to continue driving my truck due to potential engine failure. I was prompted to take it to service to have the issue assesed which I did. The dealer said they would not inspect it because there is no resolution approved. I offered on 45/1/25 to pay them to check it out but they refused. This is dangerous and unacceptable, I hope you can help.

The dealer is telling me there is a faulty engine coolant, flow control valve on this vehicle and multiple other people are having the same issue. The part is on backorder and takes months to arrive. They are telling me I can drive the vehicle, but it becomes a safety issue because the engine thinks it is overheating and goes into reduced acceleration mode, which can impact safely driving the vehicle. Pulling out in traffic and not being able to accelerate can be extremely dangerous.

Dealer keeps ignoring engine knock noise states its normal , mpg is down dramatically . Shift to park , vehicle only has 34k miles and dealer does not want to repair under warranty due to vehicle being a 2021 battery keeps draining for no reason , new battery added still does the same thing.

2023 GMC 1500 sierra denali ultimate tailgate opens without being commanded. This has happened approximately three (3 ) times in the last two months while being driven with the most recent incident occurring today, 04/27/2025. There are no warning lights indicating when a tailgate opens while the vehicle is being driven.

I have taken it in due to engine mounts 4 different times, transmission replaced and in October 2024 I took it in for issues I was experiencing like I had before my transmission went out. I did not get my truck back until almost Dec 2024 and that was due to there employee backing into the front end of my truck. So after all that my warranty was up Dec 24 2024 and then on April 16th 2025 I was driving my 2018 GMC sierra 6. 2l 1500 denali 129,600 miles at approx 30 mph it was late so the streets were empty and we started to hear a knocking or what I thought at the time was a very bad exhaust leak. We parked and then we started to try to make it home very slowly which we did and it was not making to much noise. The next day I called GMC and explained they said bring it in. I towed it there to be safe but it did start and still ran at very slow speed. They called me and said that the lift side rockers/ lifters 1 failed and it was stuck due to a misfire and that the engine would need to be rebuilt and sent me over some very vague break down which looked like a lump sum price. I requested and better break down and got a screen shoot and that when he said that’s the best they can do. There were no engine lights on or warnings nothing at all. It also just got serviced at GMC for an oil change on February 27th 2025 along with some air filters. Today is April 29th and still waiting for the service manage to call and see if they can do anything to help out instead of charging full price. I will attach pictures of the cost break down if possible. Thank you.

Unknown: transmission/torque converter etc. Like driving over "rumble strip. Shuddering (rumble strip feel, shake), when it happens (e. G. , during light acceleration between 25–80 mph).

My tailgate will randomly open on its own. I’ve had several instances( 5 or 6 times so far) when I’ve had open on its own. Only once so far when I was driving. Luckily, I was on my private road without anything in my bed that could fall out. I often carry mountain bikes over the tailgate which could pose a serious danger if the tailgate were to open when driving. Also earlier this evening when the tailgate came down on its own while driving, when I got to my destination, I was unable to open the tailgate at all from outside the vehicle. It is apparent the button to release the switch is malfunctioning. I was able to get it to open by using release button inside the vehicle.

The electronic tailgate randomly opens on it's own/fails and opens when it has not been pushed to open. The vehicle is available for inspection. The tailgate opens randomly and can be unknown that it is open. No warning of it at all. It has happened multiple times, the most recent being today 4/7/2025. I know that a recall has happened with other models for this exact same issue.

I was driving at approximately 25-30 mph, accelerating from a stop light and I felt a clunk, heard a grinding noise and my back wheels locked up. It was snowy/icy conditions so the back end of my pick-up slid out to the right a little bit before the wheels unlocked and I was able to regain control. I could have slid off the road or into another vehicle had the wheels remained locked. The computer system then alerted me to a transmission issue and to reduce speed immediately and call for service. The pickup was then unable to shift out of 1st gear. The vehicle has been towed to a dealer and I have been informed the valve body in the transmission has to be replaced which is 8-12 weeks backorder.

2025 GMC Sierra 1500 shifted from park to drive uncommanded, accelerated uphill, and crashed while idling, keyfob outside of vehicle, March 2025. Esis couldn't replicate and falsely claimed I didn't put it in drive, despite photos and no one inside.

Purchase the truck April 27th 2024. In January of 2025 it started to feel like the engine was slipping. Near the end of February, it was getting worse and the locks started locking/unlocking on their own. The vehicle stalled two separate times while driving on a main road. The first couple days of March, the car stalled, again on the road while the locks went crazy. Then, on March 7th, after I had pulled out of my driveway in my neighborhood, my car completely shut down. We had to have the truck towed to coyle GMC, in clarksville, indiana. And, as of may 1st, it is still there. We have been told they need some cap for the transmission and they don't know when they will get it. They offered to give us a new transmission, but they don't know when they'll get it. I am making car payments on a car that I have not had since may 7th. Unfortunately, because I drive my car for work,it had it's 32000 miles on it, so I can't turn it in for the lemon law. I'm very lucky that my son and I were not injured when the car stalled in the middle of the road. This is an ongoing issue with GMC, and I think it should be illegal that they were selling these trucks. I have a brand new truck that I haven't driven in 2 months.

6. 2 liter engine fail- replaced at new cost, 20,000 miles later another 6. 2 engine failed. Unable to get new engine due to GMC finally recalling the engine. My VIN is not included in the recall. I now have no vehicle to drive but still have a loan to pay.

Hi, I was driving on the turnpike and my radio volume went to full volume 100% by itself. The radio would not shut off and none of the controls would work, everything froze. I kept turning the volume button down and the volume bar on the screen showed that it was trying to minimize, but it wouldn't stay. It kept going to full volume. Finally, after I kept pushing the off and mute buttons, the radio shut off and was unresponsive. When I reached my destination and shut the truck off and restarted it, the radio then worked as it normally should. This happened to me yesterday, and I'm still having trouble hearing and my ears hurt. I researched this online and found that there are many other people that had this same scenario with their sierra. I wanted to reach out and report this. Thank you steve janosco.

On February 10, 2025 the vehicle, a 2018 GMC sierra, caught on fire while parked in the driveway of my home. The vehicle had last been driven earlier in the day with a return to home at approximately 12:45pm. At approximately 7pm I heard a loud pop outside of my home and saw orange light coming through the front windows. Upon going outside, I found the rear of the vehicle engulfed in flames. The fire was coming out around the remains of the license plate, up and around the rear bumper on the left side, and progressing up the tailgate and window hatch on the bed cap. The fire progressed forward over the next few minutes as the fiberglass cap burned. Eventually the fire penetrated the front window of the cap and rear window of the cab and began burning the interior of the cab. About the time the fire department arrived the fuel tank ruptured and began spilling gasoline onto the ground beneath the vehicle. The fuel tank was approximately 7/8 full. The fire department eventually extinguished the fire, but the vehicle was a total loss. My wife and I had been in close vicinity of the vehicle during the afternoon hours and had noticed nothing unusual. There had been no unusual issues with the vehicle during the prior drive, which had been a 5 minute drive to/from a local home supply store. There was collateral damage to the front of my house as a result of the heat from the fire, as well as damage to the driveway. If the vehicle had been parked in the garage it is resonable to assume that the house would have been destroyed.

1) [xxx] - was driving on the interstate at 65 - 70 mph when the truck suddenly shut off and shifted to neutral. I was in the far left lane and had to coast thru 2 lanes of high speed traffic to the right shoulder before the truck stopped coasting. Once I coasted to a stop on the right shoulder of the interstate, I tried to crank the truck up a couple of times and it finally cranked and I proceeded on to my destination. When I reached my destination and was attempting to park, the truck shut off again and would not crank after that. I then called roadside assistance to send a wrecker and take it to my local GMC dealer in montgomery, alabama. 2) my safety and others was put at risk when the truck, without warning, shut off and lost power while driving at 65-70 mph in heavy interstate traffic causing the truck to suddenly decrease speed and having to maneuver through traffic , without power, while coasting to the side of the road. 3) [xxx] - the service department at mullinax GMC in montgomery, alabama called me about a week later to say the engine had "locked up" and that they had contacted GMC to begin the process of getting it fixed. They indicated that this was not uncommon with this model truck, and that it happens sometimes. 4) there were absolutely no warning lamps, messages, sounds or any other symptoms of the problem prior to the engine failure. Cylinder 5 failure and cam shaft miles 78k. Have to replace full top end or brand new motor cost $10k up to $13k to fix at dealer.

Shift to park message appears when in park and engine is turned off. Transmission control had an internal circuit failure. Park not fully engaged and vehicle could roll. Problem confirmed by dealership. Prior recalls for earlier GMC models but not my year.

Water entering from the rear window causing rear seats and roof hard cover to get wet and cause a wet odor (humid). 2020 GMC 1500 at4.

Complete engine failure while driving on interstate. Vehicle went into neutral. After rolling to a stop on highway. Vehicle would not go into gear. Tow was unable to put vehicle into saftey mode and had to drag vehicle onto tow bed. At dealership techs were also unable to get vehicle to turn on or go into gear. Dealer advised the engine was complete seized. This happened while traveling on the highway there was no warning or signs of something being wrong. Vehicle simply lost all power and went into neutral while traveling 70mph with 37k on the odometer.

January 17, 2025 on January 14, 2025 at approximately 9: 30 . P. M. I was returning from walmart. 3 doors from my home I heard and felt a loud pop thinking maybe it could be a hose or something because it was extremely cold 7 degrees but everything seemed fine. Today I decided to have my vehicle washed and waxed since it’s 40 degrees but on my way to the shop it sounded like a window or door was open. When I got there the young man immediately said that my rear window was broken I said it couldn’t be because I really leave my home but I looked closer and it was shattered, he said he had heard of that when it’s cold and using your defroster heating up the wire causes it to explode is probably what happened and there may be a recall on it and there is n192265660. Tailgate comes open without wanting too. Few times I've come to find the truck with the tailgate open, has occurred twice while driving. There is a recall for the same issue with the 2500 and 3500 series GMC sierra. My truck is a 1500 series GMC. Surely same issue and faulty tailgate lock as the 2500 and 3500 trucks.

Transmission, rear wheel lock up issue. Dealer performed recall notice work. Truck still has same issue after dealer visit. When issue starts, feels like you ran over something in the road, all warning lights are on, loss of power to engine and the engine did quit working once. Door locks continue to cycle repeatedly, multiple screen warnings appear on dashboard. It appears that everything that could go wrong happens at once. Have heard transmission valve control modules is a major problem with gm 10 speed transmissions.

Vehicle was going in for warranty recall; however, I requested they look at the def system as my def gauge would bounce between full and empty; along with, alert me of going into limp mode. Gm maintenance updated the recall and noticed that the def tank sensor failed and required to be replaced.

Only owned my 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 for 5 months close to 10,000 miles on odometer. Transmission valvebody failure. Gm and dealership says no eta for a replacement part. Im hearing from other customers with same issue part will take 5-6 months for dealership to receive part. I have a brand new truck that im making truck payments on just siting at the dealership waiting for a transmission valvebody. This is unacceptable! there are many many gm customers dealing with this same issue.

On [xxx]\ while travelling from georgia to florida, we fueled up at the [xxx] exit. As we left and started up the on ramp, the transmission in the truck failed. We were able to make it to a campground nearby and we called a local transmission repair shop. Not thinking anyone would answer, someone did and told us to bring the truck in the next day. To make a long story short, we did some research on the transmission in the truck and found there were a few class action lawsuits on this particular transmission. In fact, the transmission repair shop told us he has had to work on quite a few of vehicles with this particular transmission. I find this quite disturbing since no recalls have been issued on this transmission. The truck only had 135,000 miles on it. On 12/5/24 took the truck to the dealership where we bought it with a complaint about the transmission. They took for a test drive could not find anything wrong with it, recommended we have the transmission flushed and filter replaced. They could not do the service so we got it into our local Chevrolet dealership who did the work for us on 12/6/24. On [xxx] as we were departing a gas station in tifton, GA, the transmission would not shift out of first gear and the temperature rose up to 234 degrees. Limped the vehicle to a campground, called a transmission shop who told us to bring in the truck at 7:30 am o 1/2/25. They were able to replace the transmission on 1/3. We had to drive it 500 miles before we could continue on our journey to florida. Trying to accelerate on the interstate and not being able to significantly put us at risk of a crash.
