I took my truck through a car wash and then parked at my parents house. While the vehicle was parked, the trunk latch kept releasing. The trunk popped open. I left it open but you could hear the latch continually releasing and the lights blinking. This went on for an hour and I was unable to drive home because my trunk kept unlatching! a recall was released for other sierras but not mine. Please investigate my VIN and others that may be affected.

Coolant control valve failure. Instantly reduces power on truck. National back order on parts. No remedy.
On [xxx], at approximately [xxx], while driving northbound on [xxx] between [xxx] and [xxx] (austin, TX) at roughly 65?mph, I suddenly heard a loud cracking and popping sound from the front of the vehicle. As I began to ease off the gas, unsure of what was happening, I observed what appeared to be a black object quickly shoot upward from the front driver’s side of the vehicle while traveling at highway speed. I immediately took the next exit [xxx] ) to assess the situation. I had no idea what to expect; my mind kept jumping to either hitting road debris or maybe even a blowout. To my astonishment, once I was safely on the side of the road and out of my vehicle, I noticed that the front left fender flare had completely detached from the vehicle suddenly and without warning while cruising at normal highway speeds. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 in question had approximately 29,800 miles at the time of this incident. I immediately contacted the dealer to schedule a repair, and all pertinent records, including photographs and a repair invoice, can be made available upon request. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I’m filing this safety complaint in addition to a previous complaint, 11678151. Which occurred on August 1, 2025. On Friday, August 22, 2025, I experienced a 2nd traction control alert and engine failure lights on my 2026 sierra denali ultimate truck which again caused the acceleration to drastically decline while driving home from work. Thank god my kids were not in the car with me this time. I am extremely appalled and confused as I've never experienced this level of substandard operation from a new vehicle. I have informed the leadership team team at cavender GMC west san antonio, TX of the situation. The dealerships recommended (2) paths to exit the vehicle: GMC customer assistance and dealership trade-in.

Vehicle showed me error code “ brake failure dont drive over 43mph “ and some other error codes I took the vehicle to the dealer because it was serious they made me sign a diagnostic fee document that I will be responsible for the diagnostic but the issue was just battery needed to be replaced according to the dealer we did the repair at the dealer battery + hours + diagnostic but the misleading error codes made me take the car to dealer what was unnecessary so please look into it customer are getting charged for unnecessary repairs because of misleading error.

My doors will no longer lock or unlock, using the key fob or the lock/unlock buttons in the vehicle. This is a widely known issue for GMC trucks, once you search for it. At around 50k miles, the door actuators just quit working. So, if I have kids in my truck, I can't unluck the doors to get them out unless I climb through the truck, and have to manually do same to lock the doors to drive with kids in the car. There isn't a key hole for the back doors, so this can't be done at all outside the car. The doors are supposed to automatically lock when the truck is put in gear. Mine won't lock even when I push the button to lock. I just had this confirmed at the dealer. I also spoke to GMC and was told that it wasn't their responsibility. This is a genuine safety issue, and happens on these trucks a lot.

To whom this may concern, this GMC truck with the 6. 2 has had constant engine issues regarding the lifters failure causing the engine to destroy itself internally I’ve had to get it repaired every 3 months on average there’s also a class action lawsuit that applies only to the 2025-2020 years however they are the exact same engine in the 2017. The transmission is not in sync with the motor having a late take off or sounds like the gears are grinding between shifting.

Driving down interstate highway and sunroof “exploded”. Raising glass sunroof up about 2” above the body. Vehicle had 387 miles on it. This occurred at about 6:55 am and outside temperature was about 74 degrees. The rupture was loud and very startling and I exited the interstate pulling over to see what occurred. There was no damage whatsoever to any other body component and no “flying” debris was observed at anytime that could have struck the vehicle. I requested GMC dealer to look at onboard cameras and save video but they seemed dismissive. Had the interior sunroof shade not been closed I would have been showered in glass while driving.
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and serious concern regarding a critical safety failure I experienced with my 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 denali unlimited (VIN: [xxx] ), which I purchased brand new in April 2025 from cavender GMC, san antonio, TX. On Friday, [xxx], with fewer than 9,000 miles on the vehicle, I was driving on the highway at about 65 mph, with my minor son in the vehicle when the dash suddenly displayed a traction control (trc) fault message, followed immediately by "acceleration is limited. " the truck experienced a severe and unexpected power loss, severely restricting my ability to accelerate or maintain safe highway speeds. I was forced to pull off the road abruptly to avoid a potentially dangerous situation. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The drivers side grab handle (a pillar trim piece) is cracked through completely at upper bolt mount location, causing the grab handle to be weakened and unable to safely support while using and could pull away from vehicle while in use potentially causing the driver to fall and become injured. I replaced the original with a genuine oem replacement from the dealership and it cracked in the exact same place. I posted an inquiry to a facebook group of fellow GMC owners and there were numerous reports of this having to them and having the dealership replace under warranty, only to have the issue occur again. This structural failure seems to happen with or without use of the grab bar.
My 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 shows message "shift to park" when turning off, even though it has been shifted to park. Have to play with shifter to get it to stop, sometimes turning it back on and off will do trick. Locking it with remote works most of the time but this last time it took over 10 minutes .
The truck started to vibrate or shudder . We are having to deal with replacing the transmission on our truck, which has only 45,000 miles on it. We have noticed numerous complaints about transmission problems with this model and the place that is replacing the transmission said they have had 3 customers in the last couple of months with the same issue on the same GMC model. This is a lot for our small town and area. Why hasn't GMC issued recalls ?.

The radiator needs to be replaced on the 3. 0l due to a leak in the seam of the radiator. The dealer has stated that they have had a few in the shop recently due to the same issue. There are a lot of complaints online that have the same issue, and customers have had to pay $3000 for the same replacement.
On or around July 12th 2025 at low speed of 2-4 mph my rear end locked up sending everyone in the vehicle hard stop forward. The vehicle wouldn't disengage leaving me no choice but to have it towed for the second time 1st time happened exactly the same about month and a half prior. GMC service department department claims they couldn't find anything wrong after it sat for two days in there lot after having it towed they were closed weekends and looked at it that Monday morning finding no signs of anything wrong. After picking up my vehicle I strongly feel like if at higher speeds or even environment this issue will endanger myself passengers and bystanders. I need help with resolving this safety issues ASAP please. GMC hasn't been much help service department nor gm support options.

2011 GMC sierra frame failed pennsylvania state inspection due to driver side frame rust/hole. The section of the frame must be replaced due to rust(improper coating. . . The truck has only 69700 miles on the odometer.
Tailgate opened several times without being prompted. Once while driving, two times while in park.
I washed my truck on a Saturday and as I was driving later that morning my tailgate opened while in transit. I did not notice this until I had stopped. After a little digging I found the 2019 tailgate electric switch is prone to this problem when it gets wet. There were no warning lamps for this problem.
The onstar module is no longer working. When I purchased the vehicle, the green light did not turn on. I called customer service, and they advised me to take it to the dealership since they were unable to connect to the vehicle. I am unable to contact emergency services in case of an accident, and I cannot access services like remote location and remote start from the mygmc app. I have seen several people online state that their module failed as well. It's a common occurrence that falls onto the customer to pay for. An update to the module seems to be the reason so many modules are failing.
Tailgate can open by switch located at storage area in console. It can be easily bumped then tailgate will o pen without driver receiving a warning light or dashboard message. If this occurs, and it did with this vehicle, any cargo could potentially fall out causing accident to vehicles following. Additionally, the powertrain (transmission) is a known problem for failure. If such a failure occurs the rear wheels can lock up causing accidents/injury to driver and others. Note- this has not happened to this vehicle yet but does cause concern for it happening and gm not doing a recall.
When I am in park my engine shuts off the light goes from green to orange which indicates it’s still on electrically. I have to turn on/off my vehicle multiple times for it to turn off fully. It’s an intermittent problem.
My multipro tailgate on my 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 unlatched while a trailer was attached and backing up said trailer. The trailer jack post proceeded to buckle the upper part of the tailgate assembly causing extensive damage resulting in over a three thousand dollar repair bill. If the tailgate had released while a child was in close proximity, serious injury may occur. The tailgate has inadvertently released twice in the five plus years I have owned it, the first time as I was traveling down a highway at over 60 mph. This could have endangered a vehicle to my rear if cargo had been released on to the road. I have reached out to a local dealership for repairs and assessment, no real way of troubleshooting something that has happened twice in five plus years. The scan did not show any codes. The info center does notify you if it is released but not before it takes place and after the fact may be too late in some circumstances as it was during the second occurrence. There has been a recall on 2500 and 3500 models with the exact same tailgate but not the 1500 models. 820k vehicles affected but not on the 1500's.
The tailgate keeps dropping while driving and while parked. The key fob is in a protected area or not near truck at all when this occurs.
The tailgate automatically opens when I open the driver door. There is a recall on this for GMC sierras, same model and year but were manufactured in canada. This is happening to my vehicle but because it is manufactured in USA it is not part of the current recall. Please recall the USA trucks too. Dangerous!.
1. The vehicle’s emissions system is malfunctioning, specifically the ecm (engine control module) related to the exhaust emissions system. The diagnostic trouble code is p2c7a, indicating the system is not performing as expected. Key components such as the nox catalytic converters and diesel particulate filter have been repeatedly replaced, but the issue persists. The vehicle and all replaced components are available for inspection upon request. 2. The malfunctioning emissions system has led to an exhaust leak that allowed exhaust gases to enter the vehicle’s cab. This creates a hazardous environment for both the driver and passengers, exposing them to harmful exhaust fumes. In addition to reduced engine performance, poorer fuel economy, and emissions non-compliance, this exhaust leak poses a serious safety risk by compromising the air quality inside the vehicle. Prolonged operation under these conditions could lead to adverse health effects and further mechanical failures that impact vehicle safety. 3. Yes. The dealership has diagnosed the problem multiple times. The emissions components have been replaced under warranty on two separate occasions. The dealer attributed the fault to fuel quality; however, fuel distributor debunked these claims. 4. The vehicle has been inspected extensively by the dealership with invoiced repair work replacing key emissions control components. 5. The check engine light and service engine soon (ses) light have been illuminated with the diagnostic code p2c7a since the initial identification of the problem which started 3jun24.
Subject: urgent safety complaint dear GMC customer service, I hope this message nds you well. I am formally reporting a serious safety issue with my GMC vehicle. The car has experienced multiple dangerous incidents due to likely electrical or software faults, losing power suddenly on two occasions while driving. This is especially concerning given the low mileage of 20,000 km and that the vehicle is still under warranty. Vehicle information: • model: GMC sierra sle, 2024 • VIN: [xxx] • current mileage: 20,000 km description of the problem & history: 1. First incident (at 3,000 km): o the vehicle completely shut down due to an electrical or system software issue while driving. O the vehicle was towed to the dealer and held for over two weeks for repairs. 2. Second incident (recently): o the vehicle again lost functionality; the gear was stuck in 1st gear, and I was unable to manually shift. O this occurred while driving, creating another unsafe situation. O the vehicle was again taken to the dealer for repair, and to date, I have not been informed of the root cause. Actions taken: the vehicle was brought to sarhan, uae (sharjah), al ghandi auto after the rst incident. Despite inspections and repair attempts, the issue has recurred, indicating it was not resolved. And I am prepared to provide photographic or video evidence if necessary. Additional context: • the vehicle is less than one year old and has been regularly serviced on time at authorized centers. The recurring issues strongly indicate an underlying reliability or manufacturing defect. Due to the severity and recurrence of these failures, I refuse any further repair attempts. I formally request either a full refund or a replacement vehicle, as this is unacceptable for a new car. Please acknowledge receipt of this complaint promptly and advise on the next steps for a swift resolution. Sincerely, [xxx] phone: [xxx] email: [xxx] location: sharjah, uae information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My GMC was listed under a recall that came out in 4-24-25. This issue can cause loss of propulsion to my vehicle and can cause serious risk of injury or an accident if the issue does occur. I tried to call my local dealer in auburn wa to address the recall and was told there is no fix as of yet. Because of how serious this issue can be I’m shocked GMC is dragging their feet on a fix. I think this needs to be looked into and expedited to avoid injury.
The plastic frame of the rear sliding window failed. This has allowed water to enter the cabin, which can cause mold and other health issues. This seems to be a common issue with these trucks. My truck has a certified preowned warranty and GMC said they would only cover part of it. They charged me $400 as a deductible, which there should be no deductible per certified preowned warranty. I feel like GMC needs to put out an official recall.
Tailgate switch tailgate opened on its own with trailer attached while driving damaging the top of my tailgate. No notification inside cab. No console / fob / tailgate buttons were pushed. Discovered tailgate was down after I arrived home and had done a wide u-turn in my back yard. So far dealership has done very little diagnostic wise. Two trips to dealership so far with little to no results. Now I’m scared to use my trailer or utilize the bed of the truck to haul anything due to tailgate might open on its own at 75 mph on a major interstate/ 2 lane road hurting or killing the people in the vehicles behind me. Totally unacceptable from GMC / dealer for a 70k truck.
The vehicle consistently shuts off unexpectedly when trying to park or slow down, making it difficult to steer or control. The electric power steering stops working, especially when turning at low speeds.
The onstar system has failed, which eliminates collision detection.
This truck is burning oil faster than it takes us to do an oil change we have to check it once a week to make sure it had oil in it. I have seen online I am not the only one having this issue this year make and model. I want to report this problem.
1. On 05/9/25, the exhaust emissions system malfunctioned, triggering diagnostic trouble code p2c7a (exhaust emissions system failure). This repair, the seventh attempt since June 2024, addressed the same recurring emissions issue previously involving replacements of components such as the nox converter (02/18/25, 03/13/24) and egr valve (02/18/25). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. The p2c7a failure risks limp mode, reducing vehicle power unexpectedly, which is hazardous on highways, especially while towing. Exhaust emissions system malfunctions release excessive pollutants, posing environmental and health risks to others. 3. Yes, the p2c7a code was confirmed by dealer during the 05/9/25 repair, following prior confirmations (e. G. , 03/31/25–04/05/25. 4. The vehicle was inspected by young Chevrolet-Cadillac during multiple repairs (e. G. , 03/31/25, 05/9/25). 5. Yes, the check engine light and onstar emissions alerts appeared prior to the 05/9/25 repair, first noted ~June 2024 (p2c7a onset). Exhaust smell and reduced fuel economy were observed intermittently. Symptoms persisted post-03/31/25 repair, leading to the 05/23/25 service.
Twice in the past month +. On [xxx] my wife and I were on our way to a family wedding and I was driving approx 75 mph on [xxx]. I don't recall if I had cruise control on or not as I rarely use it. There was no vehicle was in front of me for hundreds of yards yet all of a sudden the vehicle started to brake very hard. I accelerated as I did not know what was going on and I had a car in back of me that started to gain. Then last Friday ([xxx}) with my wife following me in her car on [xxx] through ellicott city MD I was traveling at approx 25-30 mph through a very small historic town when all of a sudden the same [xxx] thing happened. Def no cc on . When we got to our destination I asked my wife if she saw my brakes come on suddenly?. She replied yes and said she saw the truck dip hard. I told her the brakes did it again. She said I should call the dealer. I did not as they are useless! then the electronics. On star has a catalog of my complaints. The radio selections I make just disappear from the screen: apple car play disappears from the touch screen and just goes dark. I have to stop the truck. . (per on-star) open the door. . Get out. . Lock it. . Wait 2 minutes. . Get back in . . Restart the truck, and this re-sets the computers(s). Ridiculous! I do not have sirius but the radio goes dark often for about 2-3 seconds. , then comes back on. I was told it is my I-phone is causing this. [xxx]! what does my phone have to do with am/fm radio?? I was told by GMC there is a patch to update the software. Koons GMC told me there was no such patch nor recall. I paid nearly $80,000 for this piece of [xxx]! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
