2 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 11/20/2016

I bought this SUV from legends auto sale. After I bought it, I notice the engine bay was real rusty like its been in water or driven over lots of water. I didnt get a car fax at time of purchases but did car fax myself , and it appeared that vehicle is from new orleans. With all the dirt and grim coming out of vehicle its diffently from new orleans. So far I replaced new pads and rotors, master cylinder, brake switch, new spark plugs and wires. The problem occurring now is that my trac light and abs light will come on after half hour of driving and car seizes up and I'm unable to accelerate. I would have to shut off engine and let rest for half hour to an hour before lights goes away and I'm able to move again. I'm not sure but it might be due to it being in the flood thus causing corrosion and rusting in all parts of vehicle. I don't have documents on me at this time as I misplaced it but can get it again and upload image.

3 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2008 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 03/07/2016

I've received letters from the GMC dealership that my vehicle needs a recall with a dangerous takata airbag, but there is no part available yet. It has been over 2 years since I was first notified of this issue. I live in a hot and humid area (hawaii), which is supposedly worse for the issue with the airbag. I am concerned for the safety of my family which driving this vehicle. The vehicle is almost 11 years old, I feel the auto maker is trying to buy time until the engine goes out possibly. I plan on keeping this vehicle for another 10 years at least, replacing the engine if need be. I would like some help getting this issue resolved, and in the meantime will try to get approved for an on/off switch for the affected airbag. It also seems strange that only one side would be affected, as the explosive propellant causing the issue would no doubtedly be on both sides.

4 Air Bag On-off Switch problem of the 2014 GMC Yukon

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

After switching to passing lane and seeing traffic in lane at standstill I swiftly jammed on brake pedal. Brakes failed to provide adequate stopping ability as though they were coated with grease. Despite having well in excess of 100 ft the vehicle would not stop. Rear ended vehicle in front with about 12k in damage to front of the vehicle. Air bags did not deploy. Original rotors and pads were replaced after experiencing severe brake fading when hot prior to accident. Drilled and slotted racing rotors were installed. After the vehicle was repaired and placed back on the road, I tested with the same brakes with a hard stop from 80 mph. The brakes worked so well the force of the stop was pulling me off my seat. Several weeks later, I was cut off by another driver on the highway doing about 40mph less than I was. I jammed on the brakes and again there was insufficient braking like before except no collision. Once more I tested at a hard brake from 80 mph and again it stopped extremely well. Apparently the failure of sufficient braking came with application of abs system otherwise the stopping power was exceptional. I strongly urge investigation of gm abs braking. I am a professional driver with in excess of 4 million miles with all classes of vehicles in all extremes. The worst damage I ever had on the highway was a broken headlight in 1975 until this accident. The accident should not have happened as my reaction was timely and the distance to stop more than adequate. The air bags failed to deploy despite the entire nose of the vehicle being destroyed and pushed back to the engine block.
