I have your campaign id#05v005000 recall date: 1/5/2005
I have 2000 GMC Yukon xl, VIN#3gkfk16t2yg114945, sharon cucos, 52 barbour st 1st FL, haledon, NJ 07508, 973-595-5880(home), 973-316-6760 ext 122(work), my power steering cut out on my on 1/19/05 I saw this recall on your website, called gm, they can see this, and since the recalls aren't going out for at least another week or so and my VIN# isn't linked to it they can't authorized repair. I drove for a few days without the power steering and then rented a car, I can no longer afford the rental and need my truck fixed. It is presently today(1/25/05) at mcguire pontiac in little falls NJ (973-785-2220) and I just gave the go ahead to fix it. I don't really have this $800. 00 to do this and gm is doing an escalation report to see if they can speed up things but that will take a few days. I can't wait this long. I don't see why if a 2000 GMC Yukon xl is one of the vehicles affected why it is taking so long to approve. I understand I will be due a refund but it is aggravating that I have to put out this money to begin with. Why post this for public viewing if they are honoring it until it is official. Should someone be able to attend to this today and contact mcguire that my vehicle is covered under this recall it would be wonderful and a miracle. I don't understand why this is such a problem. Sharon cucos.

We continue to replace these failing part on 1997 to 1999 Chevrolet and GMC fullsize c/k1500 trucks, tahoe's and suburban's. The failure of this part causes a driving hazard. No safety defect listed.
Consumer was traveling on highway and power steering went out without prior notice. Dealership was aware of problem.
While driving about any speed vehicle will stall and lose electrical power and power steering. Had taken vehicle to a technician. Technician told consumer that cause may had been with fuel injector sticking, and had happened four times, just like safety bulletin g99066b, may 2000.
Vehicle experienced severe erratic steering when driving at 50 mph or more. Hard to steer vehicle on the road when traveling at highway speed. Vehicle has not been inspected at this time. But dealer was contactd via phone. Please feel free to provide any further details.

Lost control of truck momentarily while making a slow turn. Problem seems to be intermitent.
Power assist causes steering to become extremely loose. Could easily cause an accident.
Intermittently steering would lose control when turning. Dealer and manufacturer were notified. Feel free to provide any further information.
Eov sensor failed causing erratic steering--scary stuff.
The steering would jerk the wheel left or right while in a turn causing a momentary loss of control of the vehicle. Steering box was replaced before finally the evo sensor was replaced. Abs brakes also have never felt good. The pedal goes to low before the brakes slow the vehicle down. This has been a complaint sence the truck was new. The retailer seems not very concerned with my complaints. Especially knowing that I am an automobile technician they feel I will let the problem go their repairs haved been unsatisfactory from the begining. I have had to complain about problems many times before finally the preblems are fixed. With the steering problem I haad to contact another dealer tech I knew and ask him the problem which he knew what was wrong imediately. Please do something before all these trucks with this steering and brake pro.

The steering wheel suddenly moved counter clockwise slightly. This happened 4 times in a span of about 5 minutes during a 5 hour trip. This is the first time that I have encountered this problem. It felt as if I lost control of the steering for a fraction of a second.
Steering becomes erratic/ very loose/ much movement in steering wheel when bump in the road is encountered. Very hard to keep in a lane. Been to dealer for this problem twice/no results! I feel it is putting myself and others in danger.
The steering wheel, while you are driving, will suddenly jerk to the left or right as if you are not the one driving. It will just about send you into the ditch or inot oncoming traffic! I contacted my local dealership, and the stated since my vehicle is out of warranty, and there is no recall, it would cost me $300. Now, I have 2 small children and I need a large vehicle for room, but this steering problem is bad! some one's going to get killed!!its that bad11 my husband was driving the Yukon one day and had to fight the wheel to keep it inthe road. Please help, we need a formal recall.
While proceeding through a road curve to the right(only) at speeds above 35 mph, the power steering assist suddenly releases or gives way, resulting in over steering , and veering to the right. Problem manifests itself only in right turns above 35 mph, and only when steering wheel exceeds a rotation of 35-40 degrees.
Power assist causes steering wheel to be extremely loose. Could easily cause an accident.
While driving vehicle at high speeds on the highway steering was so sensitive that the car would sway from side to side. Dealer has repaired vehicle.
Power assist causes very loose steering. Could easily cause an accident.
Major brake failure, in snow, on hill, brake pedal went to the floor after a loud rumble from the rear of the truck. Had master cylinder replaced, and 10 days later the exact samething happened, dealer installed another master cylinder. Test drove, blew that cylinder, then replaced the abs modulator along with another master cylinder, and sent us on our way. It is now two weeks later and brake failure is being noticed again, truck is sitting currently at dealership. Also, the steering went very loose around September 1998, had that checked and repaired, at this time the steering is again getting loose.
Power variable assist steering is difficult to control due to steering wheel speed sensor. Mjs.
While driving down highway power steering froze, consumer could not turn wheel.
Power steering sticks at any speed. Occurs mostly when you make right turns or go into right curves. Power steering has gone completely out a few times.
Erratic power steening control while in turns and highway driving, not always present, but able to reproduce with patients of dealer on test drive. Since new dealer has said it was tire balancing and alignment which they attemped to correct several time. After one of these correction in Aug 99, problem became more apparent . Wife is driver and I always took their word for correction until I insisted there is other problem and find it. So far they have replaced steering box, put on 4 new tires and wheels among a host of balancing/alignments etc , no corrections as of yet. Steering wheel pulls eradictly/shudders feels gone at times. Is interm at times but much more pronounced of late. Brakes; there have been many occasions where the brakes lock up when applied heavily, I learned this by asking wife and duplicated it on nurmerous occasions with erratic reaction of the brake pedal.
At higher speeds when traveling over 50 mph the power steering releases and the Yukon wanders all over the road. The steering box has been replaced twice. The problem still exists.
Power steering box failed, causing noise while turning steering.

Wet brake problem causes concern that brakes will lock when applied while driving in wet rainy conditions. Steering problems experienced while driving on freeway, can create situation of over steering, causing loss of control.
Power assist seems to pull on its own, for no reason to the left at highway speeds, kinda scary when it happens. I would think there should be a recall on this.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
Steering gives way when turning right corners. Also there is a lot of play when driving 30-40 mph in the steering.
During routine driving while making a turn at any speed, vehicle will suddenly pull in direction of turn without any steering wheel movement. Friend of mine with same vehicle (except gas powered) had same prob. And was advised it was a steering relay in the column and could not be repaired easily. Concern: during cornering a higher rate of speed or during evasive or defensive maneuvering - may cause vehicle rollover.
