2 Battery Dead problem of the 2017 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/21/2020

Vehicle failed to start in garage for first time after having been driven regularly. Battery too weak to turn engine over. Attempted to recharge battery. It would not take a charge. Checked battery fluid level and it was below top of plates in three outer cells. Added distilled water and attempted to charge again. It would still not take a charge. Called dealer and reported. 2017 Accord was 38 months since purchase with 28,000 miles on it. No warranty coverage therefore I purchased a new battery at farm & fleet. Technician there noted battery case distortion as if the battery had been frozen. Definitely did not happen since we had the vehicle since the battery had never previously been discharged to make it vulnerable to freezing. Definitely a problem other than routine battery failure due to age or use.

Since I got the car in 2016 the radio has been freezing then going completely black while driving. My battery has died multiple times without leaving anything on or open. I'm currently sitting in the parking lot after just starting my car and moving it to another parking spot, came back to start my car and go home and the battery was faintly trying to start and then completely died. My car won't start and the radio screen is white. Now is making a clicking sound without touching anything.

It takes 2 or 3 tries then cranks and starts like normal. Very disappointed in Honda brand. They were know for reliability - no longer! would not recommend Honda to anyone I know looking for a car.

10 Battery Dead problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

11 Battery Dead problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

I received the notice of the recall for the battery sensor and took the car in August but the dealer said that they didn't have the part. Next maintenance in November I reminded them of the recall on the battery and they gave me the temporary fixing. Shortly after this the battery started to fail. I would have my car parked and it wouldn't turn on. This has been more constant now. Went back to the dealer March 7, 2018 and I mentioned about the battery and they told me the battery was fine that nothing was wrong with it. On the third day after my battery died 2 times after having it off for less then 10 minutes. And had to jump start it. I have seen that many have said the solution is to buy a new battery but the car is just 2 years since I bought it new and my mileage is not even 40,000 miles yet. Honda should be the one to fix this.

12 Battery Dead problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Battery died suddenly, without warning. On 1/1/2018, I drive to the gas station on my way to the airport. I turned my car off and noticed that pump was out of of order so started my car and drove to another pump without issue. I filled up my tank, which took about 4 gallons of gas, then when I tried so start my car it would not start. I have push button start and all of the electronics worked but the ignition would not turn over. The dash blinked. I tried 3 more times and the brake pedal felt very tight and the car still would not start. This left me stranded at the gas station. I had to call roadside rescue. When the guy jumped my battery he said my battery was so low that when I turn my car off next time it would not start again. This is at 6am in the morning on a holiday, and I'm supposed to be parking my car for 5 days st the airport. I had to cancel my flight and find a place to buy a new battery that same day, without having to turn my car off. The battery cost almost $200. This car was purchased brand new from dealer so it had the original battery that came with the car within. I also have all maintenance done at dealer, most recently two months previous, where all things checked were listed as ok. This car was purchased in July 2015. The battery should not have failed so quickly. The car had 56,165 at the time of battery failure. There was no warning. The car has never not started. This was very dangerous. I know about the recall on the battery sensor, and we received the temporary fix and will get the permanent fix during our next maintenance, however I find it strange that my battery failed in between. I've never, since I've owned a car, had to replace a car battery in just 2. 5 years of usage.

13 Battery Dead problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/08/2017

On Wednesday November 8th my wife went out to start our 2015 Honda Accord with 38,531 miles. The car did not start. We had the car towed to university Honda. The service advisor checked the car out and said that the car battery was dead. We were required to purchase a new battery for $127. 63. I contacted american Honda requesting to be reimbursed the $127. 63. They opened a case #06448979. My car is 2,531 miles outside its warranty. It has a recall notice for faulty battery sensors. The car was purchased 7/31/15, so the battery failed after only 27 months. The new battery that I purchased from Honda has a 100 month warranty with no mileage limit. A reasonable person would expect a new car battery to last longer than 27 months, especially since when Honda sells the battery separately from the car you are given a 100 month warranty. So either the battery was faulty or the faulty battery sensors caused the battery to fail prematurely. Tia from american Honda stated that the battery was beyond the 36,000 mile warranty and all she could do is give me Honda dollars that I can spend on Honda products. She would not let me talk to anyone else. After researching this issue online and talking to mechanics, it seems that Honda has sold cars with faulty electrical systems that cause batteries to fail prematurely. I would like Honda to reimburse me for the costs that I have incurred and recall their faulty batteries.

14 Battery Dead problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/02/2017

I was informed of a recall affecting the battery/charging system of the vehicle. The mentioned issue already caused my battery to fail as well. When I took the car in for the repair the battery sensor was replaced free of charge. The battery was tested and was no good. This is a direct result of the failed battery sensing which was causing a charging system problem. I had to pay for $118. 10 for the battery. I feel I should be reimbursed for the battery. Also, I had already taken the car in a few months before for the charging issue. I was made to feel like an idiot. The recall was not out at the time.

15 Battery Dead problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/24/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the battery died after the vehicle was parked. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to Honda of freehold (4244 u. S. 9, freehold, NJ 07728, (732) 410-5508) where it was diagnosed that there was a dead cell in the battery. The vehicle was repaired with a new battery. The failure occurred after the vehicle had an open recall repaired for electrical issues related to the battery and a new recall was issued under NHTSA campaign number: 17v418000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 40,935.

16 Battery Dead problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/23/2017

The battery dies intermittently for no reason. I had them temporary fix done in July of 2017. I didn't have any problems with the battery until this week. I have had the battery die twice this week. The car starts fine some days and others it won't. I called Honda and they told me the recall had nothing to do with the battery staying charged.

17 Battery Dead problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/15/2017

My car is 2013 Accord bought brand new from gardena Honda and no other mechanic touched it. Since 2013, I have serviced my car at the same location. My car was perfectly fine however, once I received the battery recall letter I decided to take my car into gardena Honda. Please note my car still has less than 30,000 miles on it. August 2017 I went to get my car checked for the battery recall they said everything was fine and that they applied konshi bond to protect bms. Two days later after work my car did not start (stationary). Check engine was on, check steering light on & traction light on plus low pressure on. I immediately felt unsafe to drive my car but had to take it back to Honda to see what they had done to it. Honda said it was not their fault and that now the problem had nothing to do with my battery. Instead, it was my engine wire harness. That needed to be fixed for a price of ~$2,800 but they could lower it to $669. 15 + tax I just want to express how disappointed I am in Honda. I bought a Honda because they are supposed to be a reliable car. Back in March 2016 they told me by battery failed the battery test and decided to charge it. November 2016, they made me buy a new battery, at that time my car was still brand new with only 22,000 miles on it. I don't believe this is coincidence. I got a Honda for reliability reasons. I also know you are not supposed to service the car for the same issue 3 times and I shouldn't be concern of my 2013 Honda car that still has less than 30,000 miles of any electrical issues. I am concern of service fraud because I was charge to recharged and replace the battery. One time I was within warranty and the other was just a few months afterward. I am requesting a reimbursement of some manner; it can be monetary or free servicing my car.

18 Battery Dead problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/15/2016

I am unable to start my car after it sits for ten days to two weeks or more. The battery goes dead and my family and I are left potentially stranded. My wife and I travel frequently and return to a car that won't start due to a parasitic draw on the battery. This is a safety issue as you can imagine flying home, taking the bus to the parking lot at the airport at 11:00 pm, going to your car and finding a dead battery which puts our safety in peril. I took my car to oneil Honda in overland park, kansas. They charged the battery and checked it out and told me that everything is fine. I asked about why the battery went dead and they said that this is now normal with the new Honda Accords due to the parasitic draw on the battery when the car isn't running which ultimately drains the battery to a point where it won't start. Having been an auto mechanic in my younger days I couldn't believe my ears. I called another Honda dealer's service department in the kansas city area and received the same comment. Then I phoned the Honda dealership in san antonio where I purchased the vehicle and again, was provided the same information. . . . "this is now what I can expect on my new Accord, if it sits for ten days or two weeks then the battery will die". The parasitic draw on the battery is putting my family and I in an unsafe situation and I asked that you intervene. I tried to address this with Honda America but was not successful with the agent on the phone. I even asked her to pick a dealer in san antonio, any dealer, get their service manager on the phone with us and lets see if he / she gives us a similar response regarding the parasitic draw. She refused. Now I feel that I need your help. I have had this problem since last fall and it has occurred on several occasions. I will indicate an approximate date of my initial visit / discussion with the first Honda dealer.

19 Battery Dead problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/01/2016

Purchased 2 Honda Accord ex-l v6's in December of 2014. Just 1 week ago one of the batteries suddenly died and eventually showed "check charge system" on the display. Honda determined that the battery was really low and replaced it. Fast foward just a couple of days and the other one starts to exhibit the same exact problems. Taking it to Honda again today but assume they will replace the battery as well. Seems odd that the battery would die on both vehicles less than 2 years after purchase. Cars are driven daily for atleast a 20 minute commute each way plus other trips/errands/etc. Very unacceptable and seems to be a common issue dating back to previous models.

20 Battery Dead problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

21 Battery Dead problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

Ok, to summarize I am on my 3rd battery and I can't remember how many jump starts in 1. 5 years. Since I have owned this 09 I have never been able to keep my keys in the ignition in order to listen to music while the car isn't running. It doesn't matter if it is less than a minute the battery will totally drain and require a jump or replacement. I have gotten every battery tested and I have been told that the batteries are in good working order. But for some reason if I try to use the battery, the battery dies either requiring a jump start or like my last two incidents a brand new battery. There must be something wrong with electrical system because this surely should not be happening.

23 Battery Dead problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/28/2013

Car sat for 3 weeks in the winter of 2013. I was on maternity leave. I left for my first day of work and my battery was dead. I replaced the battery. All of a sudden it was a domino effect. Radio doesn't work. It circles through fm1 fm2 and am about 3 times before it rests on am. None of my windows roll down except my drivers side. Ive checked all fuses. . . . Ive replaced the master window switch and nothing. . . So many people are having the same issue but no one says how to fix it or why it hasn't been issued as a recall. Also my disk changer happened to eat my cd and wont cycle through aux or cd at all. Ive taken this car to the dealership. . They told me to replace the master switch and I did. . . Which was very expensive and it did nothing but cost me more money because now my auto key locks wont respond. Im pissed.

24 Battery Dead problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/20/2012

Car cut off while in store for five minutes was told that if yu leave keys in ignition while off it drains the battery. No car in my life that ever happened after leaving the radio in the car on and drained the battery. Had a problem within 3 months of buying a 2008 Honda. Car cut off and wouldn't start. And it did it again last night took it in before and the first time I took it in battery was fine and they check the battery today and they said it was no good but it happened a total of 4 times and there was a recall on the car and it happened to other people and which shouldn't happened cut off last night and no key in the ignition and battery died. Spoke to ron store manager and spoke to service manager and refuse to change the battery. All they did was charge up battery. Cause they wanted me to purchase a battery for 159. 00 which there is a problem. Because there was a problem few months after I bought the car. And brought in for same thing now less than a year. Honda told me that if you leave key in car that the car still is drawing power even though key is off. I kid you not my mom was in the car for five mins and battery died. Honda of roanoke rapids don't care about customer service and doing what is right to satisfy the customer. Battery was going bad before. I will never buy a car again from them. And I have the power train warrenty and american Honda forced me to get it and wont cover squat. I was forced to take it by american Honda or else they would approve my loan. This was Honda of roanoke rapids.

28 Battery Dead problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/18/2007

When my car battery died last year, I took the vehicle to my dealership for replacement. The service technician called to tell me the car was ready but asked if I had noticed if my safety restraint system light had been on. I said it had not prior to the new battery being installed. The service technician told me he didn't want to charge me to diagnose the problem, and suggested I wait and see if it "self-corrected". He said that the light being on could mean my airbags would not deploy in an accident. The light remained on and several months later I took the car in for scheduled service I asked them to again look at it. They charged me $92. 00 to perform an input function test which showed srs control unit failure and informed me repairs would cost $616. 00. The car is now out of warranty, but the service technician kindly informed me that if it was the seatbelt that had broken they could of fixed it no charge even if the car was out of warranty. I declined the repair and looked online only to find many Accord drivers have had the same issue, and each dealer charges a different amount for repair. This is a safety issue, not something normal wear and tear could cause to malfunction, nor could a driver cause this control unit to malfunction.

29 Battery Dead problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/30/2006

My 2000 Honda Accord ex v6 battery finally died on 01/30/2006. A new battery was replaced the same day and now the srs light stays on and won't go away. I contacted a local Honda dealership and they want to charge me $90 just for diagnostic and the cost of repair. I searched on the internet and realized that is a common problem with many Honda and Acura car models after any power related issue. As proclaimed reliable car company, I wanted to know why Honda won't admit they have a problem and voluntarily have dealership fix it free of charge for the customers. I will be one of the customer gives serious thought on any future Honda purchases.
