5 Brake Light On problem of the 2019 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/21/2020

Numerous times while driving on the interstate at 65-75 mph the vehicle has braked hard in the highway. No cars beside or in front. The last incident I was almost rear ended by a Toyota tundra who barely was able to stop. I took the car to vann york Honda, was told it was a recall for a bcm module (obviously untrue, that is for wipers, rear defogger, etc), but I did get the issue documented on paper. This was if something happens to me, I or my family have documentation that the car does have an issue with braking at high rate of speed for no reason. At times the brake light comes on, the last two times lane departure light has come on and I have been centered up in my lane, no one in front of me or as I stated beside me. The car is a danger to the driver, any potential passengers and the vehicle following. Honda seems not to be concerned as I have read online in many places that this began with 2018 models and affects not just the Accord, but the civic as well. My 75 year old mother has a 2019 civic that is doing the same thing. I suppose if someone gets hurt and families start to sue, Honda may do something. Now that I have documentation, if I get hurt, that is my plan!.

12 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

I turned my car on one day and the light with the car and a squiggly line under started flashing then moments later the tire pressure light with the exclamation mark came on then weeks following the steering wheel light with the ! came on. I took my car to the tire place to check and they said nothing is wrong and after months of going back almost weekly at this point one of the techs says he heard other Honda Accord's were having the same problem and that it may be a false reading. Then after some weeks my abs and brake light came on. At first it was only in the afternoon or later these light would come on but now it's whenever. Sometimes they go off after I start driving but then they eventually come back on. I looked on google and it appears this has happened to others stating there was some kind of faulty box thingy that is used to communicate between the lights going off and the car. I don't have the money to get someone to do all of this and if there are others having the same problem did Honda use a faulty part as others are saying? please help.

13 Brake Light On problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/26/2019

Today 06-26-19 I was driving about 5mph out of a parking lot going very slow, I was ready to turn onto a road that is not busy at all, out of nowhere my car brakes locked violently suddenly. The brake light alert went off as well, when there was nothing in front of my. Not a car, not a person, absolutely nothing. My car stopped so hard that it jerked my neck. I have googled this and there are multiple complaints from people about this issue. I feel very unsafe & afraid to drive my car now, especially when I have to drive 60 miles on the interstate to my job. I'm not sure if other owners of this make, model and year have reported this issue. Please find out what's going on with my car.

14 Brake Light On problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/21/2019

After my "brake system" light came on and the dealership denied it even though I had record of it, my car decided to see how fast it could hit the brakes. I was driving on the us-60 in phoenix, arizona with adaptive cruise control on, traveling at 65 mph during morning rush hour, so it's still dark, on a 6 lane freeway. I can see brake lights far ahead, so I lightly tap my brakes to disengage acc and slightly slow the car down. The car had other plans and the brakes completely locked up like it was using the emergency braking for collision mitigation but no warning/info showed on the dashboard as it normally does when emergency systems engage. So basically my car decided it wanted to slam on its brakes in the middle of a busy freeway, near bumper to bumper traffic, all because I lightly touched the brakes-- it was not abrupt, it was not a hard push. . . It was literally to turn off acc. I watched the rear view mirror as the SUV behind me was about to put my trunk in the engine compartment, but thankfully they were able to swerve into the hov lane next to us. They barely missed me and if that open spot was not there for them, I'd likely be seriously injured or dead. Honda has ignored my messages and it's time to let our government know this car has issues.

15 Brake Light On problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/06/2018

I was driving straight down a residential street, accelerating and the braking system automatically stopped the vehicle and the transmission automatically went into neutral. The car motor was still running but the car was inoperable. The gearshift indicated the car to be in drive but would not accelerate. I moved through the automatic gear shift selections but nothing happened. The dash brake failure contact dealer light appeared, then transmission failure contact dealer warning light appeared. I called the dealership and was instructed to turn the car off and restart, which I did. The car restarted, there were no warning lights and I was able to drive the one block to home. The dealer told me to drive it to the dealership which I did not do as I did not feel it was safe. It was fortunate I was not on a freeway or in traffic as I most likely would have been rear ended because it came to a complete stop unexpectedly; for no apparent reason and no notice like brake stop lights to warn other drivers the car was stopping. I had the car towed to the dealership. I was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced.

16 Brake Light On problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

On may 25th, I was driving on the interstate when I noticed the brake warning light flashing on the dashboard. I was the only vehicle on the interstate when the brake warning light appeared. On may 29th, I took my car to a local dealership for an inspection. The dealer did not find any errors when they put it on the computer.

17 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/03/2018

The brake light continues to go on and off on the dashboard. I have changed my brakes, replaced the brake fluid and the problem persists. I have went to Honda and they can only tell you the cost for the repair. I have seen quite a few complaints on other websites with the same problem. I have found multiple websites with the same problem for the 2008, 2009 and 2007 Honda Accord, I cannot understand how it's affecting a significant amount of vehicles for the Honda Accord and there is not a recall listed. Especially when it can cause hazardous driving conditions. The light comes on within a minute or two of driving and turns off after reaching 40 mph. Other times it stays on and the vsa light comes on.

18 Brake Light On problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

Brakes grabbing and almost uncontrollable. At low speeds, touch brakes lightly and they do little to stop the car. Depress brakes harder and the pedal 'steps' in and the brakes grab abruptly. Very difficult to brake smoothly / non-abruptly. As a result, at least one time abs kicked in prematurely when road surface covered with snow. But core problem (grabby brakes) are irrespective of road surface.

19 Brake Light On problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

20 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Vsa brake and abs light come on and off intermittently. Braking test with lights on show abs does not work. Numerous complaints on web sites about moisture entering the control module. No response from Honda other than replace the $1200. 00 module.

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

The contact was informed that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The contact was also informed that the repair parts needed to be ordered. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

22 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/16/2015

I was driving my 2009 Accord on my snow covered street and the vehicle stability (vsa) light flashed on, as it should, when the vehicle loses traction. However, the light stayed on and the abs and brake lights both appeared as well and all 3 stayed lit. At first, I thought they would reset, but after a few days, they did not. The vsa and anti-lock brake functions were no longer working. My car was brought to a local dealership where they performed a diagnostic test and based on the computer codes, determined that the abs modulator needed to be replaced. The cost for this repair was over $1300! at that time, I decided not to complete the repair because I wanted to call american Honda to see if they could provide a discount for this very important and expensive safety component. After more than a week, they did finally offer a discount and the repair was completed for $800. My research has indicated that this part has had a history of problems in some Honda vehicles manufactured around 2009. The abs modulator should not have failed on my Honda Accord with such low mileage. I believe that it must have been a manufacturing defect with 2009 Honda vehicles.

23 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/18/2014

The clearcoat paint is beginning to peal on the hood, roof and trunk. Color of vehicle is black. It has been well maintained and garaged. I've noticed many other Honda vehicles with the same condition. In addition, the abs brake warning light has gone on and we've been told by Honda that the car needs the abs module replaced at a cost of $1,200. We have not made this repair due to the cost and age of the vehicle.

24 Brake Light On problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/22/2013

Problem started : about a week ago . Engine would stall if either left or right turn signal was/were activated. At the present, engine dies when the brake pedal is depressed. . American Honda told us that they had never heard of this complaint before. ( problem also occurs when 4 way flashers are activated). Car is unsafe and not driveable without turn signals and brake lights. I would like to know if any other Honda owners have or have had this problem , and also what was done or required to repair this issue .

25 Brake Light On problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Since July 2011 , my 2003 Honda Accord lx v6 experienced sluggish in the transmission. Sometime, suddenly, my car felt like someone slammed on the brakes causing me to jerking forward. It happened a few more times, then in September 2011, I brought the car in the dealer for the transmission service. I told the dealer service advisor about the symptom, after the dealer flushed the transmission fluid, then told me that the car sometime sluggish, replaced the fluid will fixed this. The problem got worse, more noise, jerking when the car automatically shifting, in November , the traction control system engaged, and the engine check light were illuminated. The car was slow to move. Brought the car to the dealer again on 11/14/2011, the dealer told me that the car "needs linear shift solenoid and brake light switch, parts had to be ordered, and the car can be drive !!! I drove the car home, it was so bad that I had to let the car sit waiting for parts. On 11/29/2011, the dealer replaced the linear shift solenoid and the brake light switch, then told me that the problem was fixed. Got the car home, the next day , I only drove about 5 miles, the noise and all the symptoms came back. I had to brought the car back to the dealer again. This time, they consulted with the Honda company technical service. After several days, the dealer told me that Honda technical service determine that the power train (transmission) is causing the problem; I need a transmission replacement, and it cost $3900. 00. Called Honda customer service to register a complain about Honda service. This definitely need a recall.

29 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/02/2009

I am a first time buyer of a Honda automobile. I purchased my Honda for the reliability and quality reputation that they were to possess. I first noticed a loud scrapping noise coming from the rear of my car at 37,000 miles. I asked fellow automotive manufacturing employees what they thought it could be. The response was always it can't be the pads because of the low mileage. I took the car to the dealership. The dealership determined I needed to replace the rear pads and that the wear was normal. I was not satisfied with that answer, so upon picking up my Accord I asked for the old pads. The inside pad was completely worn while the pad for the same wheel for the outside was quite the opposite with plenty of pad left. The dealership tried to explain the inconsistent wear due to a emergency brake cable engagement. I did not see the brake light on the dash lit up at all. Investigating this issue further because of my concern with faulty brakes, I have learned I am not alone. I will not tolerate replacing and paying for a problem that is clearly a manufacturing issue of poor quality and what may turn into a life loss if not understood. Safety is number one at Honda manufacturing?.

30 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/20/2009

My Honda Accord sedan ex had rear brakes replaced at 25,744 miles. I started hearing a metal scrapping noise from the rear of my car when backing up. I brought my car into a Honda dealership and was told by the service advisor that my rear brake pads had to be replaced. He told me that the replacement would not be under warranty as this is normal wear & tear. He asked me if I "brake lightly" as this may have been one of the reasons which led to this problem. Believe me, I am a bit naive about cars, but I didn't think that I had the car long enough to have to have new bake pads installed, needless to say the rear versus the front. I found a web site carcomplaints. . Read more...

31 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/22/2009

Brakes failed prematurely - at approximately 40,000 miles, parking brake locked/seized without brake light illuminating and caused $700 worth of repairs, including new rotors, pads, etc.

32 Brake Light On problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/27/2005

Leased new 2003 Honda Accord with manual transmission in July, 2003. Have had minor, but irritating problems, with the car since it's lease. Power windows activate intermittently, battery died after 15,000 miles, and brake light went out. Dealer took care of all issues except windows. They still operate on their option, not mine. At 29,000 miles, heard grinding noise in rear brakes. Took car into dealership and they claimed that it was our fault for not "having the rust removed" at 15,000 mile check-up. Never heard of anything like this. Wheels were never removed by dealership for inspection. Took vehicle to independent mechanic for repair and found that rear brakes pads had worn down unevenly. Pads and rotors had to be replaced on rear brakes. Front brakes are fine. From my reading of this web site about the problems other people have been having with this brake system, I am filing a complaint and hope that this problem will soon be looked into before someone is seriously injured. This is our third Honda and have never had any problems with the brake systems at such early mileage.

33 Brake Light On problem of the 1997 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/13/2004

34 Brake Light On problem of the 1997 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/18/2004

I recently about 1 1/2 months ago had my brake pads replaced, 2 days ago the abs and brake light has come on and will not go off, I have done all the checks and everything is fine. . . Estimated repair runs from $900-$1500. . I have also noticed several complaints from other Honda owners for the same thing I feel that Honda needs to do a recall and get this issue corrected. . It should not be placed on the consumer Honda needs to stand up and take ownership of the fact they have vehicles with defective parts.

35 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/17/2004

On 2/17/04, I was turning left to get out of a parking lot. When I applied the brakes to stop, I heard a loud popping noise and then it sounded like something fell off of the car. The dealership said no problem was found, that they were unable to duplicate. 263 miles on it. On 5/21/04 I was driving down a main road and I noticed a lot of red brake lights in front of me, I hung back about four car lengths, and as I got to about three car lengths I knew I was going to have to stop so I put my foot on the brake and the car would not stop, I literally had to stand on the brake petal with two feet, and pulled on the emergency brake at the same time, the car kept on moving forward, the car made a very loud grinding noise; and finally the car stopped inches away from the car in front of me. I inched the car over to the side of the road and called the dealership and they said to get the car right down to the dealership. I drove there about 10 miles an hour with my 4 way flashers on all the way. They supposedly road tested the car for brake noise and checked lining, they said everything was fine, that they were unable to duplicate problem. I was very nervous but had to go to the doctors, so I carefully drove the car down the same road and had to stop again, I applied the brakes and the noise and not being able to stop happened again, I swerved to the right to avoid hitting the car in front of me. Mileage 1721 miles. I stopped the car and called the dealership again, they told me to bring the car back, mileage 1741 miles, another trip with the flashers on at 10 miles an hour, they provided me with a rental car, my car is still at the dealership, some area representative is supposed to contact me, I called today 5/26/04 and they still do not have any answers. I am deathly afraid to drive my car that I love again, I want a new Honda Accord, I believe this one is a lemon and will never feel comfortable driving myself and especially my grandchildren in it again.
