38 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/09/2018

The vehicle does not always start when you pressed the start button and only clicks. This can be dangerous if the car stalls in a busy intersection or rail road crossing and the vehicle cannot be started. To start the vehicle (keyless w/fob), you have to press the brake and press the start button. It appears that the brake pedal pressure and the starting of the car may be part of the issue as we have noticed that the car will more likely start when the brake pedal is soft vs. Hard. Not sure if the issue is isolated to the start button, brake master cylinder, both or the electronics that interacts when these two. Any assistance that you may provide with this issue is appreciated. Thank you.

39 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/14/2018

Vehicle will not start at times and there is a clicking sound. In the beginning, it happened maybe twice a month and it would start after a few seconds. It has gotten worse and it's an everyday occurrence, several times a day. One day it would not start at all. I left it for approximately an hour and when I later tried to start it, it started with no hesitation. It is not the battery, because I replaced the battery thinking that was the problem. Everything else in the car works even when the car won't start.

42 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/17/2017

Second time on the last four days that my car will not start. I took it in for service at eh Honda autonation in costa mesa CA and they told me that everything checked out fine. I was working in los angeles four days later and once again the car wouldn't start. This is after driving a few short distances and then the car just wont turn over. I have had to have the car jumped twice in the last four days. This is a problem because of where I work and I cannot let my wife drive the car due to not having the confidence that the car will start, especially if she has the kids with her. I will be taking it in again on Monday and see what they have to say. I have read that there are parts dealing with the battery that can not only cause starting issues, but shorts in the electrical system. I understand that problems occur, but the fact that this is the second time in four days I starting to wonder if Honda is now selling vehicles off their name and not their quality. Not willing to give up on them just yet, but it will depend on what they do to fix this issue.

44 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/17/2017

Prior to today, I had an instance where all my panel lights came on and my car failed to start. After doing research I learned it could be related to a recall. I called the local dealership to schedule the recall repair and was told the parts were not yet available and they could provide a temporary fix if needed until the parts were available. I elected not to have a temporary fix and wait for the parts to be safe. When going in today (2 months later) for an oil change and tire balance I asked about the recall and if the parts were available. I was told they were so I gave permission for the recall repair to be completed while the had my car for the other scheduled maintenance. I picked up my car at 5:45 after being told the repairs were complete. I left the dealer and went to a restaurant and when I got back to my car and tried to start it, all the panel lights came on again and it failed to start leaving me stranded with my 8 year old son 20 minutes from my home. I called the dealership for assistance and the service department was closed. I was told my a salesman to bring my car in tomorrow morning. I expressed my grave concern with the condition of the car considering the repairs were supposed to be done and the possibility of it turning off or not starting. I did not want to chance driving the car as I did not feel it was safe. While waiting for a ride, the instrument panel and display continued to blink and turn on and off when I attempted to start the car. When my ride arrives, we jumped off my battery to see if it would start. It started but was weak. I drove back to the dealership (5 miles) while being followed by my friend. I left the car and was given a loaner in hopes the repairs can be successfully completed. I worry that the repair won't be properly fixed (they don't have the part)and my safety and my son's safety will be compromised.

46 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

I recently purchased a Honda Accord coupe 2015 with less than 20k miles and had 2 occurances where the car wouldn't start. The warning sign said fcw system failed and wouldn't start. Did several things, called for help at the dealer and after 20 minutes later, it randomly started. The second time my girlfriend was driving it to the grocery store and when she was getting ready leave, it did the same thing to her. Luckily her work was across the street and came back after her brake 2 hours later and randomly started. This car was never listed in a wreck, has a 1 year old new battery which was replace last year even though it's a 2015 and I'm reporting this August 2017. Please help with this if you have any information on remedying this situation. Thank you!.

47 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/28/2017

The i4 engine will not start intermittently. The battery is new and fully charged. Many times, I get it started by straightening the steering wheel. The car is 4 years old with 51k miles so outside of warranty. The dealer wants a diagnostic fee to test other components. This is potentially dangerous to consumers for the electrical component but also a consumer hazard in terms of safety not to mention t reputational risk to Honda.

48 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/10/2017

Purchased 2016 Accord touring in may 2016. In April 2017 the car would not start - appeared to be a battery issue. Had the Honda roadside service come to the house, they jump started it, told to let it run/drive it for 1/2 hour. Did that. Went shopping and when I tried to start it again electronics went crazy, wipers went on their own and the stop button would not turn off the car. Had it jumped again by Honda roadside. Took it to the dealer, they replaced the battery - said it had a bad cell in it, said there were no tech svc bulletins on the car and said there were 100's of ground wires in this car that may cause a problem w/battery premature failure.

54 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/11/2016

Keyless fob has two times opened all four windows and sun roof while in my pants pocket a couple of inches. The last time on April 11, 2016 it rained two inches and the car was left in the rain. The following morning the car would not start . The lights on the dash were flickering like crazy. You can not tell the sun roof is open because the sliding cover is closed. I think Honda should remove this feature that allows you to open the sunroof from pressing a button from your fob. This cost me a lot of money and I didn't even know the sun roof was left open.

62 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/13/2015

It so far has happened to me twice that I need to jump-start the car. There probably has some electrical leakage issues or something related to it. The first time it was more than a year ago that when I came earlier to a doctor appointment waiting for the clinic to open, I turned off the car and left the cd player on. But it only played for about half an hour or so it turned off automatically due to the battery power has already been depleted and the card could not start at all that I had to call aaa after the doctor appointment to jump-start for me. I thought at that time it was due to the cd player took too much power so I did not complain about it. But the second time it was a few weeks ago on Sunday, which give me the concerns that there must be some electrical leakage on my car. After parking for the church meeting and turned off the car, both my wife and I decided to open the window a little bit to let the air flows in the hot weather since we parked under a covered parking and would not worry about possible rainfall. So before we open the doors, we opened both front windows a very little bit and left for the meetings. Then about 3. 5-4 hours later when it was time to go home, we found out the car would not start, and we had to ask for help to jump-start it again. This time it gave a definite guess that there must be some electrical leakage in the car. I also complained in early June of this year about the steering wheel lock issue. I received a mail from Honda to fix it, but when I call the dealers, none of them even offer loaner cars for such recall and manufacture failure repairs. Honda is bad for things like this. I don't know whether I should purchase Honda again in the future. I never complained once for my Toyota for years. Even they schedule for manufacture recalls, which I never encounter myself, I did not have to worry about the loaner car.

63 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/17/2015

2003 Honda Accord. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle factory installed radio, components and back light defect issues. Consumer sent additional correspondence. The consumer stated recently, the cd player would not function properly and most importantly, the radio began to malfunction and drain the battery. The radio would flash on and off while both the radio, all components and vehicle were turned off and the key out of the ignition. After sitting overnight, the vehicle would not start the next morning. On two occasions after driving, the consumer shut the vehicle off for five minutes and it would not re-start. The consumer stated the vehicle would stall and it was all because of the defective radio. A mechanic informed the consumer, they had recently come across numerous 2003-2007 vehicle with the exact same problem. They found the problem was due to the way Honda installed and mounted the radio, coupled with the fact that the brains of the radio was defective, therefore draining the battery and causing the radio and back light to fail. The back light worked occasionally and then stopped illuminating.

65 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

My 2000 Honda shut down while driving on the freeway in 2010, restarted right away. When I took it to my mechanic he couldn't find anything wrong. Since then it has done it about 10 times, a few times when cold starting but usually in summer when air temperature is very hot. My mechanic has kept it over a weekend to see if he could get the car to fail starting, but no luck. I am afraid to take it on a long trip even though it has only 129,300 miles on it.

66 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/14/2015

When I started my car today I got a blinking light on the dash that looked like a battery. I looked it up in the owner's manual and it said "battery not charging" and to "contact the dealer immediately for repairs". I'll call them tomorrow. About a month ago, my car wouldn't start. I had to get it jumped and later took it in. They replaced an under dash relay. My car has been ok otherwise.

69 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

Grinding & spinning noise when I attempt to start the engine. The engine would eventually start after a few attempts. This should be treated as a safety issue as I am afraid electrical circuits could catch fire due to this grinding and the car could fail to start when involuntarily stopped on a busy freeway or in an unsafe parking lot, putting my family at risk. This happens almost every other time I start the engine and the car would not start until the second or third attempt. I recall that this issue first started happening probably about six months after I purchased the vehicle in June 2014 but I kept thinking that it was probably due to me not pushing the button properly as this was the first car I owned with a push button. This is an issue Honda apparently knew about and issued a TSB (#16-002) in 2016 when my car was still under warranty and Honda and their dealers did not disclose it to me during the many items I took my car to them and asked them if they were aware of this issue.

70 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/19/2014

We smelled fuel when driving to church on a Sunday. Thinking it was some leftover fuel splashed, we continued but then the smell became really intense. So we turned around and returned toward home. Upon entering our street, suddenly the vehicle stalled totally out and came to a stop in middle of the road! we rolled it over to the side, it is a neighborhood street; then started car again and went slowly downhill to the house; car stalled again just outside our house, we could not get it into driveway, very strong fuel smell; we pushed it to get it parked on the street. Tried again later that day to start the car but it wouldn't start, very strong fuel smell and gasoline leaking onto the street. Car towed to Honda dealer next day; after technicians examined the car they concluded "rodent damage" to the fuel line leading to the fuel tank. They would not cover any of the damage as it "wasn't manufacturer defect. " also called national Honda customer service and opened a case; but they would not agree either to cover anything. We were very lucky we weren't on a highway or interstate when this suddenly stalled out, we could have been rear ended as the car suddenly stopped with no warning! the fuel line last portion leading into the tank is made of rubber, it is not metal or hard plastic like the rest of the line and therefore subject to something sharp puncturing it--which is a defective design in our view. The new part they put on is same as the old, the same thing could happen again. There is no shield under the fuel tank area to keep things from underneath getting up in there. Honda should at least cover the cost of the repair (we paid $684. 09), car is almost brand new. And we believe this is a safety hazard, car can shut off with no warning. Thank you for your help.
