Honda Accord owners have reported 331 problems related to front air bag sensor control (under the air bag category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Honda Accord based on all problems reported for the Accord.
I filled up my car at the hess station on route 112 in coram , long island, new york. I put my car , slowly in reverse and the car took off like it had a mind of it's own. I stepped on the brake, but nothing happened and the car continued to speed up in reverse- with my foot on the brake - heading towards a van with a baby in it in a car seat. I quickly put the car in forward, and with my foot still on the brake, the car flew across the parking lot of the gas station, crossed two lanes of traffic, crashed into the woods. I steered away from a telephone pole I was definitely going to hit and, when I went into the woods the air bag went off and covered my face. I then went back across two lanes of traffic again, with the airbag over my face, and crashed into the curb in front of the hess station
when I reported the accident to my insurance company, the hartford, I asked them to check out the speed sensor- . My insurance company said they would not be able to check out the speed sensor. I then called Honda customer service and told them of the incident. They informed me that, unless they received a request from the hartford, they would not check out the speed sensor. I then called the hartford and requested that they call Honda to have the car inspected by Honda themselves. Hartford told me that they would not pay to have Honda inspect the vehicle - they were just going to have their adjuster look at the car and told me they were not going to look at the speed sensor at all. So , basically, no one is willing to do anything and I almost killed a baby in a car seat and myself
this seems ludicrous to me that no one is even willing to check this defect out. I sincerely hope that you can help me with this very difficult situation.

My 2005 Accord had an illuminated supplemental restraint system (srs) light. The Honda dealer diagnosed it down to a broken driver seat sensor harness; fault codes 71-10 (drivers seat pos sensor) and a2-10 (faulty pwr supply). This condition is exactly the same as described in Honda service bulletin 07-002, "safety recall: driver's seat position sensor harness replacement. " just as described in the bulletin, the wires on the harness become damaged and in fact were completely broken away from the plug end. However, my VIN falls outside the affected VIN's listed in the service bulletin and is not covered under this action. Furthermore, I feel the dealer charged more than necessary for the repair: they charged 1. 96 hrs of labor (at $97. 00/hr), or $190. 00, and $15. 20 for the part totaling $205. 20. In comparison, the service bulletin calls for 0. 6 hrs of labor, which when added to the part cost would have totaled $73. 40. Bottom line: Honda did not provide the proper fix for damaged driver's seat position harness's in later production vins. Since they continue to cause the same unsafe condition, Honda must be compelled to increase the scope of this recall.

The air bag warning indicator is illuminated spontaneously regardless if the vehicle was in motion or at start-up and whether the front passenger seat was occupied or unoccupied. The recall 07v001000 (air bags: frontal: sensor/control module) does not include my VIN.

While waiting at a traffic light, I adjusted my driver side power seat and saw the air bag sensor light turn on at the same moment. I was not involved in any accident of any kind. I took it to the Honda dealer and was told that the sensor failed and it would cost 660. 00 to replace. Apparently this sensor controls all the front airbags without which they will not deploy. I would like to add this safety complaint to the data base in case others have had the same problem.
I have been complaining to Honda for over 3 years about the srs module system. I have taken my car to about 2 to 3 different Honda dealers. They offered to replace a sensor and some other parts related to this system for $600 but they do not guaranteed those fixing will solve the srs problem plus they also are not sure if in a case of an accident the air bag will deploy or work right. Why paid for this repair went they can't guaranteed it will work. Honda is very missleading. They should be order to issue a recall on this srs system. What coul be more of a safety issue than this problem. Are they waiting for people to get hurt due to not deployment of the air bags due to srs system issues. Other car companies are order to do recalls on brakes failure, seat belts, Honda is not being an honest customer oriented company.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the safety restraint system lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed that the cable to the drivers seat position center was torn due to the seat being moved back and forth. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance since the recall NHTSA campaign id number: 07v001000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module) and was only a part of 2004-2005 model vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 95,000. Updated 4/11/2011.
The srs light has gone off approximately once a year for approximately the last 5 years. It has always been caused by a sensor in the seat belt, which is covered by warranty. However, the dealer always tries to charge a diagnosis fee to determine if it is a warranty issue and it is a safety issue every time the light goes off. It is also a huge inconvenience. The dealer has told me that the airbags will not work when the light is on as a safety precaution. Each time it happens the seatbelt sensor needs to be replaced. This is a safety concern because the airbags are frequently not working.
The seat position sensor (sps) wiring harness in my 2005 Honda Accord is broken causing the air bag warning light to be illuminated and the sps to fail. Please note that this symptom is identical to that addressed by recall number: 07v001000, which applied to certain 2004 and 2005 Honda Accords. However, my VIN number is not included in the Honda recall. I believe that the omission of my 2005 Honda Accord's VIN from recall number 07v001000 is in error and should be corrected. The Honda dealer changed an initial $95. 07 for diagnosing the problem, and has offered to install a new wiring harness at my expense. At this time no action has been taken. The faulty wiring harness is still installed and the air bag light is still illuminated and the sps is still in failure mode.
Supplemental restraint system indicator light remains (intermittently) illuminated beyond the normal time after starting vehicle. The problem appears to be the same as described in other "complaints" published in NHTSA recall campaign id number 07v001000. According to local Honda dealership, this vehicle is not part of the recall group and does not qualify for cost free remediation by Honda.
Failure of opds unit on my 2000 Honda Accord 4-door v-6. As an outcome of a joint action lawsuit Honda agreed to extend the opds warranty to 10 years from the delivery date of the vehicle or 156,000 miles. My opds unit has failed just 3 months after the 10 year extension. This is the 2nd sds system failure as the seat belt sensor has failed in the past. Honda now covers the seat belt failure on the many Accord models for lifetime as the failure is common. Failure of sds airbag system on Honda Accords and other Honda vehicle models is an on-going chronic problem that renders the entire airbag system inactive upon any component failure. This is a serious safety hazard to owners and due to the high cost to repair the sds system many owners cannot afford to make the sds airbag system operative again. Honda must step up to insuring that lifetime warranties on the sds systems are in place for all owners as an sds failure may result in injury or death for the vehicle owners. Way too many sds system failures have been documented by Honda dealers and owners. Who knows just how many "red lights" are actually on the dashboards of Honda Accords out there that simply don't get fixed due to the high cost of repair?.
The airbag light illuminated on my 2005 Honda Accord. Took to dealer who said it was the driver seat module and would cost $300. Checked previous Honda recalls and the same complaint was recalled for 81000 cars but mine wasn't listed (recall 07v001000 there are a few other complaints indicating the same problem and as this is an important safety issue, perhaps Honda should extend its recall to include my vehicle. I asked Honda customer service when my vehicle was manufactured (to determine if the date was around the period when the other cars were recalled) but they said they didn't have that info.
2003 Honda Accord (VIN [xxx] ) has an airbag warning light coming on after 30 minutes of driving. A Honda dealer says the car needs new airbag control module for $525. There is a campaign # 07v001000 for 2004 & 2005 models airbags recall. This recall should include 2003 Honda Accord. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2001 Honda Accord 4 cy coupe - srs light on dashboard illuminates at random indicating that the airbag has been disabled due to either a faulty sensor or bad control board. Issue occurred after airbag recall was performed on the vehicle. Nothing else was performed that would affect this system's performance.
1. (the events) moving the drivers seat forward for my 5 tall wife and moving the seat all the way back when I drive, I am 6 tall, the air bag warning light will come on. 2. (the failure) air bag warning light, happens all the time, from just minutes at a time to days at a time, a failure of the sps causes the air bag system to default to full inflation pressure, regardless of the seat position. 3. (corrections made) none. I noticed a recall for this car NHTSA campaign id number: 07v001000 and contacted Honda motor CO. For recall repair information, they checked my VIN number and said that there were no recalls for this car. I connected my obd2 scanner to the car and there were no codes. I am not alone, checking different Honda forums, there are many Honda owners with this same problem.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) what: air bags:frontal:sensor red light comes on intermittently. Vehicle: Honda Accord 2003 VIN: [xxx] mileage: about 70,000 related recall: 07v001000 how long: it stays on as long as the vehicle is being driven. Conditions: 1. The light comes on even when there is no bag or small object on passenger seat. 2. The light has also illuminated while the vehicle was in motion and passenger seat was vacant. Also when the seat was occupied by an adult weighing about 150 pounds. 3. The light comes on when starting vehicle after being parked for couple of hours. Frequency: about once every 15 days (started occurring from Feb 2010) recent change in conditions: 1. The driver side seat being shifted more recently as my wife has started driving this car too. I have owned this car for last 3 years and only recently the seat is shifted more often. That is the only change I can think of triggering this light. Remedy: 1. The warning light goes off if I switch-off the car and take the keys out and restart it. Though the process has to be repeated more than once. Related recall: 07v001000 this situation is very similar to the conditions described in the recall. Though my vehicle was not on that list. Spoke with Honda customer care, who suggested taking to dealer.
Airbag frontal sensor control module.
In June 09, have an issue with srs light coming on in my 2000 Honda Accord vehicle. The dealership said that this is an seat belt issue and fixed it. When I took the car to dealership in Jan-2010 for srs symbol, dealer said that this is an opds sensor issue and since my car is out of warranty this will not be covered. My question- since this is a safety issue and Honda is aware of this, why is Honda not recalling. My car has 115,000 miles and this is purchased in Nov 1999. Can we have Honda issue a recall for this instead of warranty extension? [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Srs light comes on intermittently while driving. Talked with the dealer he told me to get the srs module replaced. I think this is a manufacturers fault not installing proper srs sensor module into Honda Accord ex model cars. I truly believe this is a safety issue.
The air bag sensor light for our 2004 Honda Accord is on almost all the time while driving. Sometimes goes off, sometimes just stay on the whole time we drive. I believe it's under the air bag recall (NHTSA campaign #07v001000), but when we call the dealership they said our VIN number is not in the recall list. I need to know why our VIN number is not on the list and we have the same problem that's.
Over the past 10 months, starting approximately August 2009, the air light in my 2004 Honda Accord exl would intermittently come on then go back off. More recently, it comes on a daily basis. When I buckle my seatbelt and start the car it may appear and stay on the entire time while driving. Then when I stop and turn off the car then turn it back on, the light may or may not show up again. I found that there was a NHTSA campaign number: 07v001000 for 2004 Honda Accord. "component: air bags:frontal:sensor/control module summary: on certain vehicles, the seat position sensor (sps) detects the driver's seating position and adjusts the air bag inflation pressure Accordingly. The wiring harness for the sps was attached to the seat frame in the wrong location and may have been over tightened. The sensor wire may break and cause the air bag warning light to be illuminated, and the sps to fail. Consequence: a failure of the sps causes the air bag system to default to full inflation pressure, regardless of the seat position. Full deployment of the driver's air bag can increase the risk of injury for smaller drivers in a frontal crash. Remedy: dealers will replace the seat position sensor wiring subharness. The recall will begin on or about February 8, 2007. Owners may contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. " I contacted America Honda motor and they said that this recall was on the 2004 Accord lx and ex but not my exl model or my VIN number. I feel that my car is exhibiting the same issues and should have been included in the recall.
Nhtsa action number: pe05043 already had service in 2009, srs problem back, dealer refused warranty corrective action.
The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. The contact noticed that the air bag warning light would sporadically illuminate on the instrument panel, which indicated that the frontal air bags were inoperative. In the event of a crash, the air bags may not deploy. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 07v001000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module); therefore, the contact would be responsible for the repairs. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 39,000 and current mileage was 41,000. 8/7/09 updated 08/11/09.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact was uncertain of the speed rate when the failure occurred. The air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The failure was contributed to the air bag sensor wiring harness. There was a recall under NHTSA campaign id number 07v001000 (air bags;frontal;sensor/control module). The contact experienced the identical failures as mentioned in the recall. The VIN number was excluded from the recall. The vehicle has not been repaired for the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was unavailable.
Have and owned since new a 2000 Honda Accord lx 4-door sedan. It failed va state inspection due to a srs light on. Dealer right away wants to charge $100 to $120 dollars for a diagnostic test. I have read numerous srs light problems with same vehicle owners. All stating it was a faulty opds sensor/ opds unit. Dealer charges from $500 to $900 for this fix. This is a safety issue and costs are outrageous. Diagnostic test should be free along with Honda free replacement. I'm not happy at all.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Accord. The driver side air bag sensor light remained illuminated and failed to shut off. The light also remained illuminated after the dealer reset it. The failure occurred after 100,000 miles. The failure was diagnosed and the sensor was reset on three occasions; however, within three days the air bag sensor light came back on. The current and failure mileages were 106,000.
The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. The contact noticed that the wire underneath the driver's seat failed due to the air bag sensor module. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 07v001000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module). The vehicle will be repaired at the contact's expense. The failure and current mileages were 52,000.
The contact owns a 2001 Honda Accord. While driving 40 mph, the front passenger door air bag deployed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they advised the contact to call the insurance company. The insurance company investigated the failure, but could not determine the reason for the deployment. A report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that the 2001 Accord was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 07v001000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module); therefore, they would not assist with the repair. The failure mileage was 81,000 and current mileage was 82,000.
Honda has a recall on windshield wipers for 2003 Accord and airbag sensors. They claim my VIN # is not included. They say even though I'm having the same problems it is just coincidental and I am responsible for repairs. They claim the are not liable in case of an accident since my VIN # does not fall under the recall.
Air bags: frontal:sensor/control module indicator light came on suddenly on July 22, 2008. Subsequent examination by Honda dealer service department revealed that the wiring harness for the sps which was attached to the seat frame was broken. Dealer denied any responsibility, as had Honda America, despite the fact that a recall announcement for this very problem was issued 1/2/2007 (NHTSA campaign number: 07v001000). They claim that my car's VIN # was not part of the recall which makes me responsible for fixing the problem.
Power train:automatic transmission:control module fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump air bags:frontal:sensor.
On may 14, 2008, I brought my 2004 Honda Accord ex to my local Honda dealer because the srs (airbag) indicator came on and remained on during operation. The dealer charged me $263 for replacing the wiring harness under the driver's seat. I believe that the repair should have been completed at no charge because there is an outstanding NHTSA recall (07v001000) that specifically refers to the srs indicator and problems with the wiring harness for 2004 Honda Accord models. My service rep at the dealership said that the VIN on my car did not fall in the VIN range for the recall, but the documentation for NHTSA recall 07v001000 does not specify a range of vins for 2004 models, only for 2005 models. I am asking that the NHTSA clarify and/or expand the VIN range for 2004 Honda Accords to include my vehicle and that the dealer reimburse me for the charges I have already paid.
My 2000 Honda Accord ex is approaching 130,000 miles. The other day the srs light came on and has stayed on ever since. After some research I found that Honda had extended the warranty on the opds sensor and belt assembly. I went to a dealership and had them diagnose the problem. They found that it was the controller unit which had failed. I asked how a solid state computer component would fail other than defect and they said they did not know. I believe that a key safety feature such as this on a car should be covered under an extended warranty. Especially since they have extended the warranty on related components acknowledging that there are defects in the srs system.
