Failure Date: 10/23/2017

Takata recall we now have the privilege of representing ms. Jennifer garciaa restrained front-seat driver (with a lap belt and shoulder harness) involved in an automobile collision in tampa, florida on October 23, 2017 (incident"). We are in the process of obtaining the records and crash report. On the date of incident, ms. Garcia was operating a 2002 Honda Accord sedan, VIN #: 1hgcg16542a045619 (vehicle) with a defective oem takata airbag inflator installed in the vehicle by Honda. The carfax report is attached for you review. At that time, the vehicle I) did not rollover and ii) ms. Garcia did not impact the windshield. Mrs. Garcia's takata driver-side airbag deployed and the inflator module detached from the steering column and violently struck her in the facefracturing her jaw in multiple locations and causing severe, jagged lacerations and loss of teeth. The physicians immediately performed an inter-maxillary fixationwiring her jaw completely shut. Additionally, she has no feeling on the right side of her face. Due to the location and depth of the facial lacerations, coupled with the inter-maxillary fixation, ms. Garcia cannot verbally communicate. We would like to coordinate a joint inspection of the vehicle (which has been preserved) at your earliest convenience.

"takata recall" - Honda mailed a notice of an important safety recall to have the passenger airbag inflator replaced. The letter states that it takes approximately 45 minutes to have this repair performed; however, my nearest Honda dealer stated this repair would take 5-6 hours. Owners are then forced to find means to perform their daily commute without their vehicle, which should not be the owner's responsibility to finance.

42 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2011 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/20/2017

I took my vehicle in to serra Honda of sylacauga on or around April 2017 to have my have my takata airbag inflator repaired due to a recall. Since the repair, my airbag light will not go off and I have called several times to inform serra Honda service personnel. Serra Honda personnel has informed me that the airbag indicator light being on has nothing to do with their service department and that if I brought it back, there would be a minimum of $140 charge to look at my airbag. This is unacceptable. Although the airbag indicator light comes on intermittently, it is still a concern for me especially since my fiance is the primary driver of the vehicle. It has been titled to her. Terra t. Foster. Thank you for looking into this for me.

Hello, neither the NHTSA recall website nor Honda's website indicates there is a recall for the airbag ignitor on my vehicle, yet the dealership mailed/called me about an airbag safety recall. When I questioned them, they were able to show that they verified the recall applies to my vehicle. My question/concern: why would the dealer have access to safety information that is hidden from the public? I've been driving around with a critical safety defect with a false sense of safety. "takata recall" american Honda failed to notify me when the passenger side airbag inflator replacement part became available. I did not know the part was available until I called the local Honda dealer after reading articles in the paper that the parts were available. Honda said in the article that they had sent letters and blamed car owners for being slow to respond when in fact this is not true. Please require Honda to notify owners immediately that parts are available so that other owners are not continued to be placed at risk. Thank you.

53 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/28/2016

Takata inflators. My vehicle appears on lists of affected vehicles and new jersey has now become a zone 2 state, yet my vehicle has not been recalled to replace the inflators and I have not received any explanation as to why. I called Honda and NHTSA and have been told only that my VIN is not on the recall list - I know that - that is the very reason for my concern. I do not trust that only the recalled vins are at risk. It is unacceptable that specific information about my vehicle and its airbags is not being provided. Even the high-level general criteria provided by NHTSA and Honda changes frequently, and recalls keep expanding after the facts of new deaths and injuries. Also, the notion of waiting for takata analyses, previously falsified is not reasonable at all, let alone until Dec 2019. Nhtsa needs to see to it that all of the listed / affected vehicles be recalled for replacement of airbags/inflators now or that loaner cars be provided now. Also, NHTSA needs to see to it that we are given specific information on the particular airbags in our cars along with detailed information on why each has not yet been recalled.

54 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Takata inflator: "Honda suggests that you avoid having a passenger sit in the front passenger's seat until the recall repair has been performed. " I received the recall notice (16v-346) in July 2016, and as if September 1, 2016, the status was "recall status: recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available. " it is unfair that Honda owners must avoid the front passenger seat of the vehicle for months, and remain uncompensated by the manufacturer. My family had to take a much less fuel-efficient vehicle on two already-planned trips (easton, PA, to erie, PA; easton, PA, to ottawa, canada), as our ony other choice was for one spouse to sit in the back seat of our Honda Accord. We also have not yet received a remedy for recall 16v-056, another airbag-related issue.

55 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/08/2016

Takata recall*** received notification via mail 7/23/16 that passenger airbag inflator is now part of recall, advised not to drive with passenger until its been fixed, but Honda offers no information about when that will be. Called Honda on 7/25 (next business day) to request alternate transportation, was told to also follow up with local Honda dealer. Called them, left message with "person responsible for reviewing". After calling for two more days and talking with as many people as possible, local dealer rep stated they can do nothing until national customer service reviews and authorizes loaner vehicle. Called national customer service 7/28/16 to follow up on request as no word from case manager. Was on vacation the following week so no followup, but no call from Honda either. On 8/8/16 (two weeks after initial request), called again to follow up, denise confirmed my request is in the escalations queue and to be patient. I find it beyond ridiculous that Honda cannot staff themselves appropriately to deal with this recall situation. Every day that goes by, while I wait "patiently" is another day that Honda our family risks injury or death from the airbag in our vehicle and is another day that Honda doesn't have to pay for a rental vehicle to eliminate the risk of that injury/death. Honda is gambling that our vehicle, that has spent its entire 8 years of existence in a priority (humid) location (florida), won't injure or kill us in the meantime, even though they have gone so far as to advise in writing for no one to ride in the front passenger seat. Due to our child safety seats in the back for our children, there is no other viable seating position in this vehicle and this is unacceptable. Honda is sandbagging the rental vehicle request process. They need to expedite requests for alternate transportation before another person is injured or killed.

Takata recall. Honda is not willing to recall the takata airbags and takata airbag inflators in my car, although Honda did recall the above parts on the closest vehicles, - Honda Accord coupe 2006 with a 4-cylinder engine. I need to know how and why my vehicle is considered safer than the other 2006 Accords. This was the explanation that I got when I called Honda customer service at 800 999-1009. Takata recall we live in a hot, humid state and the vehicle needs its airbag replaced. My young daughter, slightly built, drives the vehicle and she is the most affected type should an air bag disperse. It's unacceptable that it's taking so long for the air bag to be available. 65 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

Takata recall. Our Honda Accord 2007 airbag inflator under recall was replaced in 2014 at delray Honda, boca raton, FL. In today's nytimes, may 4, 2016, a news article states that the problem now found is that ammonium nitrate in the takata inflator is now the most critically unsafe problem in the airbag. In a conversation today with a Honda representative named sheryl, she stated she knew nothing about the ammonium nitrate problem, and that our inflator had been repaired in 2014. I requested that sheryl give me the phone number of a supervisor who might know more about the ammonium nitrate problems & repair solutions. She stated she couldn't give out any number, or connect me, but she could send a request to a supervisor laura, and added that laura would not be able to give me any explanation or information different that sheryl's. There are six family members, the youngest an 8 year old who sometimes ride in the passenger seat of our 2007 Honda Accord, and wish to receive answers to what Honda plans to do to remove the inflator with ammonium nitrate in our Honda, and what will be the chemical compound that will be used instead of ammonium nitrate. We wish to be safe and sound in a car, not anxious that there could be a problem causing serious injuries, or god forbid, death to anyone. If I don't hear from a Honda supervisor what solutions will Honda has to replace the ammonium nitrate, or install an safe airbag in our care with a safe inflator & chemical solution, I will let you know.

66 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/18/2016

Takada inflators. My 2002 Honda Accord has had 2 recalls on the driver side inflator or airbag. The srs light is on all of the time. I explained that the light used to come on and go off when it was very humid or had rained. After several months of that, the light came on and never went off. I asked the dealer if they would contact Honda and ask if they could replace both airbags or inflators on the driver and passenger side. They said they wouldn't fix it since it hadn't been a part of the recall. They replaced the driver side inflator/bag and sent me on my way with the srs light still on. Recently I had another recall for the driver side inflator. Once again I requested that they contact Honda to get authorization to fix the passenger side since the srs light is still on. Once again I was told they wouldn't do so as it isn't part of the recall. Given the history of the injuries and deaths related to the srs/inflators, why wouldn't they investigate to see what the problem was? I can't afford to do so myself. Then the dealership told me he'd note in the history that I "refused to fix it". I went ahead and scheduled a time to take it in for the recall for the driver side inflator. After I got off the phone, it really made me mad the way the dealer implied that this was my problem and note the history. So, I called the Honda recall number back and asked them to note on the history of my car that I informed Honda and the dealership that there was an issue with the srs light and they chose to not even look into the problem. I'm writing this to put Honda on notice that I have notified them of the srs problem and requested that they fix it under the recall and was told "no" twice! a quick search on the internet makes it obvious that this is a known problem that has been brought to Honda's attention and they chose to ignore it.

67 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2001 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/04/2016

Takata recall Honda called me back in January to notify me of the inflator recall on my car and told me I need to bring it in to be repaired. Since I was working a lot at the time and was carpooling with my brother I took the option to set up an appointment at a later date. I recently got to the point where I need to start driving the car a lot again I called Honda back to set up the appointment. They notified me that the recall was already complete and gave me the number to the location this repair was apparently done. I called them and they told me a different dealer was the one that did the recall. I went back and forth between different dealers and Honda's resolution team multiple times over the next few days before they finally gave me the number to the Honda association. I called them and the lady on the phone told me it was already done. I explained everything that happened and she continued to tell me that the recall was already done in houston (which is about a 4-hour drive from where I live) on January 29th. She told me that there was nothing she could do to help me and continued that it was already done. I am the only one that drives this Honda and definitely did not take it to be repaired, and Honda won't do anything about it. Meanwhile after going back and forth with them the past few weeks I am at the point where I am driving my car with dangerous inflators and can't get the repair work done that was supposed to be offered by Honda, with a new job in frisco (about an hour drive) starting in a few weeks. I told the lady on the phone that I was going to contact the NHTSA next and she said that she would make note of that.

69 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2011 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/06/2015

I had an srs light on at 44000 miles and took it into Honda, figure it was a safety thing they would take care of it. Honda wanted to charge me 100 dollars for a diagnostic. I told them no. They then told me they would talk to Honda to wave fee. Honda paid for diagnostic came back with code indicating cable reel issue. Honda said it would be 545 dollars to replace and if it didn't get replaced it may cause issues with airbag inflator and may not inflate in a car accident. I told them this was a Honda safety problem and they should replace it. The newest round of recalls were for Accords 2008-2010. I guess I will just wait around until my car eventually gets recalled until then cross my fingers I don't get in an accident.

70 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/13/2015

Takata recall - I was contacted last fall by Honda motor corp advising me that my 2000 Honda Accord was part of the takata inflator recall. I contacted my local Honda dealer to make necessary repairs and was told by them that my Honda was not included in the recall. I did nothing more at that time but am becoming more concerned as I learn of the expanded recalls being announced. It is my understanding that my 2000 Accord is virtually the same vehicle as the 2001 and 2002 model years. What is different about the 2000 Accord from the 2001 and other model years that would exclude my model year from the recall? and, why would Honda motors notify me that my vehicle was included in the recall then later be told by the dealer that it is not? I have not been able to get an answer to either of these questions from my local Honda dealer and have been unsuccessful in contacting Honda motors for a response. Please help. Thank you, don fowler.
