Takata recall: I inherited this car in June and I brought it to huntington Honda to to be sure that all was in order, as I was intending to drive the car from new york to louisiana at the end of the summer to give it to my daughter who lives there. I specifically asked the service advisor, darrell raeburn, if there was an airbag recall on the car. He wasn¿t sure, but after checking with someone else, he said yes, there was both a software and a hardware recall. They performed the software update at that time, and he said the parts for the repair should be in in July. I called the dealership earlier this week to ask the status. I was told there was no recall on my car. I said that was not consistent with what I had previously been told, after which I was then told that the parts were due in the next day, and even though there wasn¿t a recall they could replace the part for me at no charge. I made an appointment for today (July 28), but when I got there, I was told by the service advisor (dave?) that there was no recall on the car and nothing they would do. I just spoke on the phone with craig scelva, who is some type of top service manager. Aside from my complaint about the confusing information and wasted time today, I asked him what the real story is regarding the car and airbag recall. He said there is definitely not a recall, that only if the srs light comes on is there a recall. . Read more...

"takata recall" Honda USA does not honor the NHTSA 16v-056 (corrosion of the ecu unit) air bag recall. They said they would send a remedy letter in the fall of 2016. Never received the letter, and closed their recall campaign. They will not replace the ecu unit unless it's corroded to a point where a warning light comes on. The whole point of the NHTSA 16v-056 recall is to replace the ecu unit, so no corrosion will occur in the future. Honda USA refuses to replace the ecu unit. They bully their dealers not to replace it too. I have never encountered a business that is this deceiving in my life. I' m stuck without any pull or power to have them liable for this issue. Please ,I beg you , please help me NHTSA! there was a litigation that was settled in the past regarding premature wear on the rear brakes. They just replaced one set of rear brakes per litigation, but the actual defect was never addressed and never fixed. The defect is in their braking system . I'm still driving with defective braking, with extremely high anxiety. Honda USA deceived NHTSA and the customers again. Seats are so uncomfortable , it detracts attention away from driving safely on the road.

I recently received an airbag notice to have the passenger air bag replace at the dealer. I promptly delivered my vehicle to the dealer texas Honda of austin, TX. After the air bag was replaced and they updated the computer, I am now getting an srs warning light which is intermitting. And According to my manual take it to your dealer. When I reported it to the dealer they advised that the two had no relevance. That I would have to pay for the repairs and that the parts were not available. According to Honda's site the seat wiring harness should have been replaced to avoid this.
I took the vehicle to get the airbag safety recall done. When the dealer (autonation Honda 2999 west 104th Ave. Westminster, CO 80234) advised me the car was ready to pick up and the safety recall was complete. . . The airbag light was still illuminated on the dash. I pointed this out to the dealer and he told me they made the repair, but they will charge me to turn the light off (an additional $99 for an alleged no charge safety recall). The warning light advises the driver the vehicle is safe, or not safe. Right now the light advises the drive the repair is not complete. I do not believe the repair was done to safety standard with the light still illuminated.

My airbag indicator warning light came on at about 195k miles. I called the dealership asking if they had a recall open and said they did not. They thought maybe it was a sensor. Now that I see the reason for the latest recall, covering 2001-2003 whose takata airbags we declared at risk, particularly in high humidity states. I can't help but to think that with all the recalls before and after my model year, coupled with my airbag light, that I am driving around with a high risk of my airbag deploying.
