I was driving down a road (with my friend in the passenger seat next to me just to note) that is being repaved and it's not anything that I haven't driven on before, just a little tiny bit shaky here and there but again nothing crazy. I'm going about 10-15 mph and all of the sudden my airbags just go off. Nothing hit, no pothole in sight, just slowly driving down the road and bam. I was spooked as I couldn't brace for it at all because I wasn't expecting it. My windows were up so the sound of it coming out basically wrecked my ears and it came out along with a bunch of smoke. I put the car in park and got out to look, confused as to what had triggered it but nothing, no damage to the car at all, nothing hit. At Honda they were not having it. They told me that they can replace it under warranty if it was proved to be a defect. I argued that it must be considering I didn't hit anything and was driving slow and there is absolutely no damage on the car. She said they'll lift it and if there is anything on the bottom of the car to indicate that the sensor was touched, it's instantly out of warranty and I need to go through insurance. How is this okay? clearly this is some defect with the car and I'm being penalized for it. They called today for the result and said the car hit the ground and damaged the sensor so it's on me to pay for damages. I find that hard to believe because I felt no impact and was able to continue driving the car after it happened. I put it in park right away to come out but once I was told by the police to go to Honda I put the car into drive and smoothly drove off to the dealership. What can I do to have Honda accept their responsibility? I never thought that regular driving on a slightly bumpy road (basically flat and pebbly) means that the airbags would go off. There were many cars on that road yet their airbags didn't go off.

My 2014 Honda Civic ex just started having problems with the airbag warning notification going off sporadically. I took it to the Honda dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with the car after running it through the computer. It went off for a little bit and now it goes on and off with or without people sitting in the passenger sit. I happen only once I start driving and it doesn't matter if I'm sitting at a light to moving. I've noticed that other Honda's have had similiar problems when searching the net. I don't know if this will impact the deployment of the airbag if I get into an accident either. I believe it's a seat sensor gone bad but I don't know what to do about it. I've already been to the dealer where I purchased the car new.

The srs light comes on and off. Most likely due to a faulty occupant sensor.

Takata recall possibility? my airbag sensor has been on for months. There has been no recall, yet I've read tons of the same complaint on the same vehicle. It says "check airbag system" immediately after starting the car. I don't know how there's not been a recall yet when the airbag thing is a serious issue and there are a lot of these complaints out there. Please advise.

I am unsure if this is part of the takata recall, however using my vehicle's horn for the first time today, while in motion, since purchasing less than 30 days ago, my "check airbag system" sensor light came on along with the display message. I parked and turned the car off for about 10 mins. Warning message was gone but as I proceeded to drive, the light and message returned. Unfortunately, I bought the car at a third party dealer not Honda and they are not assuming any responsibility or at least try to help fix my issue. This is such a safety hazard, especially in such automobile.
Changed the passenger airbags at recommended dealer by Honda. They supposedly changed it and should have done the proper checks to make sure all is well but it was obviously not done as the car ended up locking up seatbelts on driver and passenger from a minor pothole that the case manager is calling a collision. I couldnt believe he insisted that this (hitting a pothole and airbags going off) had happened to him already trying to make it seem normal. More importantly, from the codes that the shop informed me of, seat sensor on passenger side was no good and although no one was sitting on it it locked belts and the airbags failed to inflate. They are with my car 60 days and counting. . . . Never Honda again.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle a loud popping sound followed by smoke suddenly came from under the front passenger side seat. It was later discovered that the front passenger side seat belt would not operated and the air bag sensor light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer motor park Honda located at 2953 mayfield rd. Cleveland hghts, OH. Who diagnosed that the srs had malfunctioned causing the passenger side seat airbag to erroneously deploy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 95,000. Jft.

Airbag system failure - a "check airbag system" warning alert appeared on the dashboard of my 2013 Honda Civic. I checked for recalls and finally took my car into my Honda dealer. The service advisor informed me that a "driver side door airbag sensor failed" and told me it can be fixed for $310. 00 plus labor!!!.
While car is in motion check air bag sensor will go off. Sensor will stay on until ignition is turned off and car is in park. The sensor will periodically turn on and off over the last 8months. When contacting Honda dealer about the check airbag sensor they stated it not related to the recall. I disagree if my sensor are reading check airbags something must be going on.
Takata recall (15v-370), after bringing my vehicle into Honda for the takata recall the srs light came on. Since it was not part of the recall I did not contact them figuring that it would not be covered. However, I have seen numerous complaints about the same thing happening to others online. It also happened to a friend of mine and Honda covered it so I called and was told it would not be covered it must be a coincidence and certainly not from a defect or improper work. I find it very odd that the light came on right after the work on the recall. I had doubts about brining it in and should not have done it. They say it is probably related to a sensor, which I have gathered could have been from improper work.

Purchased Honda certified used Civic in 9/2016, check airbag system light started coming on randomly around 2/2017 while vehicle was stationary and driving. Light would come on multiple times a day, or sometimes only once every few weeks. Have taken the car to two different Honda dealers (including the one it was purchased from) multiple times and dealer is unable to solve issue. Charging system sensor and cable reel have both been replaced, but light continues to randomly come on. Dealer is denying any responsibility and continues to use their 'computer flow chart' to try and diagnose with no success. This is a major safety issue and Honda needs to issue recall and take responsibility. Multiple reports have been filed!.

I was stopped at a stop sign at an intersection. A GMC SUV went through the stop sign, at a high rate of speed, across from me, t-boned a Subaru that had the right of way, and then the GMC crashed into my front end. The accident destroyed my front end and moved my car into an angle. Neither my drivers or passengers airbags deployed. It is possible that the accident missed an airbag sensor, but I would be amazed.

Replaced airbag less than a year ago on a recall. The airbag sensor light now remains on. If the airbags were replaced is there not a warranty that would cover the replacement airbag and the sensor that controls it?.

Takata recall: I brought my 2012 Honda Civic lx into today 6/9/2016 in regal Honda in lakeland, florida to have the airbag passenger seat sensors replaced, the parts replaced were: pad, r, f, 81127, opds unit 81334 and c-clip se 90600. Plus a couple of weeks ago I had the diagnostic performed for $49. 95. The symptom was the airbag sensor was being displayed.
Part # 77970-tr0-a11 sensor, side impa failure after 20,314 miles. This failure was not the result of any accident. Cost to replace was $251. 82 ii feel Honda motor CO should reimburse.
4 cars were dead stopped on the hwy 50. My husband's Honda Civic was struck first by a Ford explorer - going at least 50 plus miles according the chp. Everyone's airbags went off except ours, car was totally crunched front and back and airbag sensors were even smashed. According to a mechanic that looked at the car, the bags should have gone off. Mel rapton (in sacramento, CA) worked on the car at least 5 different times because my srs kept coming on. The last time was 12/6/14.

The sensor that controls the speed of the airbag in the passenger seat, based on the passenger weight, is malfunctioning. I took it to the dealer and was told that the defective part that needs replacing is not on any recall list.
There is a malfunction in the air bag sensor that the dealership told me could cause the airbags to deploy at anytime or even not go off during an accident. But apparently the repair is not covered.

On Saturday January 10 2015 I was driving I was coming to a intersection when the stop light change I press on my brakes and my car did not stop even after I was pumping it it did nothing my steering became locked the only recourse I had was to pull the emergency brakes to prevent my car from hitting anyone. I ending up in the middle of the intersection. Even after I was able to stop and move my car away the brakes and steering did not work. This is now preventing me from driving since I don't know if and when it might happen again. Also I have notice any one that is sitting in the passenger seat and is seat belted the sensor is not able to recognized that it giving alert that the person need to put on the seat belt this is a safety concern that Honda refuse to acknowledge.

The passenger air bag turns off when there is someone in the seat. The passenger is not near the weight minimum, and there is nothing in the back seat pocket that might disturb the sensor. They also are not moving around. I am also not aware of being able to keep the airbag on or manually turning it back on.
The contact owns a 1997 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the srs sensor illuminated in the vehicle more than once. The dealer remedied the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 96,102.

The contact owns a 2001 Honda Civic. The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 14v351000 (air bags). The recall repair was performed, but the air bag sensor illuminated weeks later. The dealer would not repair the vehicle again since the recall repair was already performed. The contact was waiting for an authorized dealer to get approval from the manufacturer to diagnosis and repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.
Last evening 5/28/2014 at 10:10 pm my wife and I were running an errand when a driver from another vehicle pulled blindly across 2 lanes of traffic in front of us. Due to the fact a semi tractor trailer combination was in the left hand lane, stopped, I was unable to see any vehicle in the suicide lane until he was in my lane of travel. We were driving at approx 35 mph when the collision occurred. My 2006 Honda Civic coupe hit a late 2000's Jeep wrangler. Impact area was to the right front of my vehicle and the right rear wheel area of the other vehicle. The seat belts worked as designed, but neither airbag went off. I have pictures of the car and the lateral accelerometer on the right front is hanging. This system was fully operational, and had no codes stored in the sdm nor any lights on on the dash. The impact was less than 6 inches from the sensor. My query is to why the bags did not deploy. Speed should have been great enough to cause deployment, as well as the area of impact.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the air bag sensor light illuminated and stayed on for several days before turning back off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact indicated that the air bag sensor light later came back on and would not turn off. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 91. 000. Pam.
Purchased vehicle pre-owned with 12k miles. Since purchase, the front passenger seat airbag sensor illuminates and DE-luminates when someone is sitting (riding) there (over 100 lbs). To date, there are no recalls. I called Honda cust svc today. Honda svc said to take vehicle to dealer for inspection and if not happy with them, go to another Honda dealer, ie, second opinion. Honda does not accept the fact there is a problem with the sensor for the airbag. If anyone else has this problem please write a letter to whomever you think may be able to help so that Honda will repair the sensor before someone is injured due to this sensor not working properly.
I bought this vehicle and then found out there are $3000 minimum issues with the vehicle. Including replacing the transmission because of the defective torque converter, the airbags aren't working properly, the rear window won't roll down. Also, the evaporation sensor and canister need to be replaced and I cannot find the right part to replace it. The srs light is on because of the seatbelt issue, the check engine light is on because of the transmission problem from the torque converter and the cruise control doesn't work even though the lights say that it is engaging.
Driving at 55 mph a Ford focus pulled straight out in front of me and came to a stop. I was approximately 1 car length away when they did this so I did not have time to stop and could not pull out around them because I would have been in oncoming traffic. I t-boned this vehicle doing 55 mph and they were stopped. My front end hit directly on their front drivers side. Their front left fender and tire were bent in and both of their front air bags deployed. My whole front end was crushed in and the center of my hood looked like I hit a tree. None of my air bags deployed. If I had not been wearing my seat belt I would have been more seriously injured than I was. Where are the sensors for air bag deployment? shouldn't mine have deployed?.

I was currently in an accident. I was driving my 2009 Honda Civic 2 door coupe. The accident accrued due to wet road conditions, which caused me to lose control and 360 on a highway and slam into an inbankment and roll over 4 times. As I was injured thank god it was not life theartening, as it could of been. I was surprised after the accident that none of my air bags deployed. I do understand that there are sensors on the cars but every angle of the the car had some type of impact, so, why only two air bags deployed on the passenger side front and back window when there was no one in the passenger seat. I was the only one in the car and of course I was the driver in the driver seat. My concern that someone in the future will not be as lucky as me and get seriously hurt due to a defect with the air bags and sensors. It makes me think about Honda and there cars and I could never get back in a Honda again cause next time I may not be so lucky. I am concerned for Honda drivers and wanted to make a complaint about the air bags that I believe to have a defect that needs to be corrected for the safety and well being of others out there on the road. I purchased a Honda Civic because it is know to be the the safest car out there with its safety features, but after the accident I questioned that fact. So, I hope Honda will consider taking a look at this and correct the issue for the well being of other Honda drivers.
My srs light, the sensor that checks my airbag system, has come on in my car and it won't go off. This is the second time that it has come on, the first time that it came on was around August 2005. The dealership fixed it at no cost. I don't understand why this light would keep coming on and they can't give me a specific reason why the light has come on again.
2006 Honda Civic ex the srs light stays on which disarms air bag system on car. Took vehicle to dealer , they stated the opds unit was faulty. That make and model of vehicle has a recall which describes a sensor problem with srs system that could eventually lead to a whole system to fail. Called american Honda ,they responded that the recall had been made but could not produce any proof of paperwork to me because I was the second owner. I bought the car from a certified Honda dealer two and a half years prior the only proof of any recall done was a rear wheel bearing done before my purchased is shown on records. The point is that the srs system has been identified as a frequent problem with my vehicle , american Honda refused to fix on their dime because warranty expiration but the air bag system and components in that car has a track of not working properly. The car is under 73,000miles. This is a safety issue for consumers of their products! I have not done any repairs as of now.
