I purchased a vehicle from a private seller on offer up. The seller stated the vehicle was clean title, he also stated the vehicle was low mileage with 112,000. When I got the vehicle the tire sensor was showing on the dash and the air bag sensor. After purchasing the vehicle I later found out the vehicle was salvage, and the mileage is also roughly 180,000 miles or more.

I bought a 2013 Honda Civic used off the first and only owner, got it at about 98,000 miles. A month later the check airbag system light came on. Brought it to the mechanic down the road from me and it threw a b0001-13 code - driver side airbags faulty. I ran my VIN and it looks like there are no recalls, although there is an investigation into airbag deflators for cars from this year. Really frustrated as I paid a lot of money of this car and was hoping to move to arizona with it. Now I'm scared to take it down the block.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was repeatedly informed by various employees that they could not guarantee that any repair performed to the air bags would fix the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The insurance company referred the contact to the NHTSA to file a complaint. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 24v064000 (air bags); and associated the failure with the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

A drunk driver hit my car along with six others, and my car spun into the highway wall and totaled the car with an impact probably 40 or 50 mph and airbags did not go off.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, a bobcat crossed the road, and the bobcat was struck by the vehicle. The contact stated that there was extensive front-end damage and undercarriage damage to the vehicle. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. The contact was unsure whether there was a warning light illuminated. The contact was not injured. The vehicle was driven to a gas station, inspected, and then driven back to the residence. However, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 40 mph. The vehicle was taken to a collision center for repair. The contact received a call from the collision center and was informed that all the air bags in the vehicle had been removed and that the wires were cut and twisted together, which led the sensors to believe the air bags were still connected. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

The light for the air bag came on. I have not been in an accident. But this is the car of my 16 year old daughter. I did some research it looks like once the light come on the air bags may not deploy if in an accident. It is a sensor problem. Thank goodness she has not been in an accident but this is definitely a concern.
Seatbelt will not retract properly ever.

I was in a car accident, I rear ended a vehicle. The other vehicle was stopped, I did not break at all and ran into them. My airbags did not deploy & there was substantial damage to my vehicle (deemed totaled by insurance assessor). My safety was put at risk as I sustained whiplash (whiplash resulted in neck pain day(s) following and bruising on my upper legs. When the assessor reached out to me, he stated that the air bags should have deployed and seemed to be a malfunction.

My 2020 Honda Civic's passenger seat weight sensor failed due to an internal electrical failure. This is an officially diagnosed issue from a Honda dealership. This put's my passenger's at risk as the airbags will not deploy due to the sensor not reading the passenger's weight. The vehicle has not been in an accident that would have caused this sensor to fail. On 10/16 the srs light (reading airbag system problem) first showed while driving. The light is still on.
The vehicle was moving forward at 10 mph and went over a manhole cover that was protruding 4 inches out of the ground that was on the driver’s side. The manhole cover came in contact with the underside of the car and set the front driver’s side airbag off.
When driving the vehicle the park brake abs and steering control lights come on the vehicle intermittently when driving the vehicle.
The contact owned a 2008 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v064000 (air bags). The contact stated that the local dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted several times about the recall repair and the availability of parts to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
I received an email from Honda regarding a safety recall, stating that the defective part is now available. However, when I called different Honda dealerships, they told me to disregard the notice because the part is not available. If the repair cannot be done, I am concerned why Honda sent the notice in the first place.
Gentlemen: on August 11, 2025, the 2023 Honda Civic, VIN # [xxx] , was involved in an accident on the miami/gainesville highway, resulting in a side impact with a truck. Fortunately, nothing serious happened to the health of my son, who was driving the vehicle. However, I am writing to you, motivated by the fact that I notified Honda USA approximately a month ago of the following information, and I have not received a response. I consider it important that the vehicle be inspected because the airbags never operated despite the serious collision. This can be verified by inspecting the vehicle, which was a total loss, progressive insurance company case # 25-759026303. I believe it is my duty to notify you of this situation and find out what happened to prevent further harm. Today I spoke with Honda USA via the chat on their website, and the response was that the case still doesn't have a manager assigned to service it. I think that's irresponsible. Thank you for your efforts in this regard. I remain at your service. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

On August 9 while grandson was in route on i20 toward birmingham, al. To attend grandparent funeral, driver air bag exploded. He struggled to take a close next exit. He pulled car to side of road and ran away from car. He said it was full of smoke and small pieces. He feared the car was going to catch fire. His phone was dead and there was nothing off the exit so after smoke cleared and he felt safer, he drove car to my home and parked under carport. I called sunny king Honda on Monday and they said that I had to contact american Honda. I was told they would send someone to inspect, but after many times calling, they said insurance needed to inspect. On October 1, insurance looked at car and did car fax and found no reason for air bag to explode. They had already given me case number but finally a case manager, named ilene, answered and said to take to dealership on October 24 for inspection and test. I spoke with guy at dealership and he said because car does not need to be driven, I could leave there and they would lock up. I have called again many times trying to find out when car will be fixed and she is not returning my calls. It has been 3 more weeks since dropping off at dealership. It is going on 4 months without car. This could have been a death complaint instead of needing repair. He was fortunate that his left arm was really red and no other harm. There was not a recall on his VIN but common sense is air bag is for safety when hitting something to protect individual. Looking on line, there are other complaints with 2011 Civic. The car has been a great car but I am concerned about safety. I hoped american Honda would just repair car and make safe, but at this point, I am questioning.
Airbag deployment after minor incident . . Foot slipped off the brake at a traffic light while car was not in motion, car rolled a few feet and bumped the back of another vehicle and the tow ball from the back bumper of said vehicle went through the front bumper of my 2018 Honda Civic and the airbag was deployed.

While driving my 2021 Honda Civic sport, both front airbags deployed without warning and without any accident or impact. There were no warning lights beforehand, and no collision occurred. The deployment also caused my windshield to crack. After the airbags went off, the dashboard displayed a ‘srs airbag system problem’ message. This is a serious safety concern as the vehicle was operating normally at the time. I’m requesting that this be investigated as a potential manufacturer defect.
The passenger side air bag inflator failure.

The passenger side seat belt light comes on when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. We have had to mcgrath Honda in st charles IL, but they say there is no recall. First time they did a diagnostic and said nothing wrong. Still came on sporadically. Took back, mcgrath said they could do a diagnostic but it would cost $159. I said, you already did that. Why not change the sensor. They said we have a service bulletin that states it may be a problem, but you will have to pay to fix. I said it does not come on all the time, so obviously it is a Honda problem. Left the dealership. That was three months ago. It has started coming on again. This is ridiculous. Honda has a seat belt safety issue and refuse to address it. What can be done? do I need to contact the consumer protection agency in illinois or the national safety and transportation board?.
