1 Warning Light On problem of the 2002 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/04/2021

Recurrent and unsolved issues with the srs airbag warning light. It was "repaired" in 2016, again in February 2021, and has recurred again in March 2021. I have a Honda Civic si, which was not included in the takata recall program. The si is an uncommon model of the Civic, and I believe this is the reason it was not included in the recall. I have continued to have issues over the years with the srs warning light coming on, and not being able to have it effectively repaired. According to online forums for older Civics, the srs warning light appears to be a common issue. Those owners recommend diy repairs and work-arounds. Given the life-saving importance of airbags, Honda should be repairing/replacing them as needed.

2 Warning Light On problem of the 2015 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/03/2020

Since the summer of 2020, my airbag system warning light had been sporadically coming on as I was driving. I attributed simply to putting a heavy item in the passenger seat, I. E. , a purse. Then, within the last two week, starting around November, it came on more often, everytime I drove. G dealer diagnosed it today as needing an airbag assembly kit due to code b0001 13. The dealer indicates it will cost $1,433. 86. Plus, I wascharges $120. 00 for the diagnosis. American Honda CO. Refuses to help me with the cost. I have no other transportation and am a retired senior citizen.

3 Warning Light On problem of the 2002 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/28/2020

Since the purchase of the vehicle the srs warning light has continuously stayed illuminated on the dash board. My first thought of course was something was either wrong with the air bag system or the vehicle was involved in a collision that led to the air bags (which ones I have no clue) being deployed and so when I signed the bill of sale with the dealer I inquired about this issue and was given a paper that states the dealer did not know as well as to whaylt the airbag system status was but was to be excluded from liability to this issue by making up this ridiculous document. After seeing the car fax the vehicle was then known to have been in a head on collision in 2018 and so the dealer lied a bout not knowing anything about this issue. This dealer has been totally non compliant with the process of getting this issue addressed let alone fixed and I have tried on several attempts to talk to owner without any callback or answers. I knly get hounded about what they believe to be the balance due on the vehicle that's it . Just today I ran the VIN inn the database and sure enough there was an open recall on the air bag systwmm in accordance with this VIN and that's when I decided to file this complaint .

6 Warning Light On problem of the 2015 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/06/2020

During 2019, the airbag srs code b0001-13 appeared. I made 2 visits to walser Honda in burnville. Mn to correct the problem. Dec. 2nd I was charged $79. 26 and Dec. 16, 2019 $148. 51. They replaced the reel cable in the system, but it didn't fix the problem of the error message listed above. I brought the vehicle in March 6, 2020 because the same warning light is on non-stop. I was told to replace srs unit for $1100. The dealership offered to participate yet I would have to pay $500 deductible. Honda's auto touchline community notes that my car isn't the only one with this airbag sensor problem. @marshall siddons "have seen quite a few of these cars - '12-'14 Civics (not sure if I've ever seen a '15 though)since the cars were new. . . . . The driver's airbag seems to be the fix. " my vehicle is in good shape with 30,000 miles. This is a defective airbag and likely a problem for other Honda Civic owners. Shouldn't it be a factory recall? today, I spoke to natalie in american Honda customer service and the company declines to pay for this repair. I request american Honda motor CO. Pay for the full installation of new srs airbag unit at no cost to me and reimburse me for $227. 77. This is a manufacture defect.

The contact towed the vehicle to their residence. However, today the vehicle was just towed to an independent mechanic. Diagnostic test has not been performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12500.

8 Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/07/2020

The airbag srs warning light comes on intermittently when I am driving it and I cannot pinpoint when/why. This happened a year ago and the dealership said it was the cable reel in the steering wheel which was replaced. 10 months later (and less than 1000 miles driven) and the airbag srs warning light is continuing to come on intermittently (driving city streets and highway - sometimes it comes on after 15 minutes of driving, sometimes it doesn't come on for for multiple times of driving). I brought it to the dealership and they said they could not duplicate the error and that it could be airbag assembly or clock spring. There are numerous complaints online about intermittent airbag light and Honda should be addressing this if it's a manufacturing issue. I do not feel safe driving nor comfortable paying $1200 to replace driver airbag assembly when it's not even clear if there's an issue. Honda should be researching this issue and addressing it, particularly with the number of similar complaints. It is unsafe.

12 Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

The "check airbag system" warning light keeps turning on and off intermittently. I can find many online complaints about 2013 Civic owners having dealers replace system components only to have the problem reappear in a couple of months. I had our Civic serviced at a Honda dealer in spokane wa a couple of months ago, and had requested they diagnose the problem. I'm in az and my daughter took the car in to the dealer to replace headlight bulbs and inspect the airbag system. However, they did not do the inspection!!! their explanation was that online appointment notes don't appear at their shop. . . Sheesh. So it never was looked at and haven't had a chance to take it back in. No idea if the airbags actually work right now, isn't that great? I feel the 2013 Civics need to be included in the takata recall, but the VIN does not reflect it being included at this time. Not happy with such an early failure in the airbag system.

13 Warning Light On problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/05/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph with the cruise control activated; the cruise control turned off automatically twice, the contact then turned turned it back on each time. The air bag warning light then illuminated and soon after the vehicle's air bags deployed. The contact lost control of the vehicle as the failure occurred. The contact regained control of the vehicle, pulled off the highway and inspected the vehicle. The contact stated that there was no visible damage to the vehicle other than a cracked windshield. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to his home. The dealer nor the manufacturer have been notified of the failure. A VIN search showed that there where no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 278,000. Jo.

16 Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/11/2019

Airbag warning light comes on and off at random times while driving. This seems to be a widespread complaint with 2013 Honda Civics and while there is no recall yet, there should be in my opinion. Thanks for your consideration, larry packwood.

17 Warning Light On problem of the 2004 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/11/2019

On Monday, March 11, 2019, the "airbag warning" (red colored) light that depicts a deployed airbag in front of a driver (passenger?) in a front seat, appeared as I was driving (and not at the time I started my car's engine) on a paved road, normal road conditions, driving around 40 mph; I was not braking or making sharp turns. My Honda manual states that this symbol means that either the airbag(s) or the seatbelt mechanism is not working properly. With respect to the airbag, it states that upon a car accident, the air bag may not properly work; and therefore, I should have my airbag(s) inspected by a Honda dealer as soon as possible. I also have side airbags in my car. My seatbelt seems to be working fine, so I'm not sure if/how this warning could apply to my seatbelt. I had the driver's side airbag replaced I believe in 2016 or 2017; my paperwork is in storage, however upon your request, I will locate the information. I heard and read today about the takata bag recall on about 1. 2 million Honda cars from around 2002 to 2016. I entered my VIN number into your system and it does not indicate another recall on the airbag I already had replaced; I seem to remember that the replaced airbag I received around 2017 was not a takata, was another brand. Perhaps this warning light is about the passenger's airbag? nevertheless, this airbag and seatbelt warning light does concern me. Thank you in advance for your help.

18 Warning Light On problem of the 2015 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/31/2018

Car was stationary sitting in drive-way. Air bag warning light came on dashboard as soon as car was turned on. Car was taken to Honda dealership and I was informed that two issues might be the cause: front right impact sensor failure ($300ish to replace) or srs motherboard failure ($1400 to replace). Honda is refusing to pay for any safety failures on the car because, "vehicle is out of warranty". So even though the air bag may deploy at any moment or not deploy when needed (like a car crash); it is suppose to be paid for by the loyal Honda customer to replace. I have not had my car serviced yet, might decide to go with someone other than Honda for servicing. Side note: car has never been in any accidents of any nature and has only been serviced at the dealership.

20 Warning Light On problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/28/2018

Since we got the car, December 2017, the air bag off warning light comes on intermittently, about 8 times since we got it and twice in October, while my wife is seated in the front passenger seat. Two dealers say nothing is wrong and Honda says if they can't find anything wrong they won't start replacing parts until the problem goes away. Which I find unacceptable for safety equipment. I can not have the airbag fail if we were to get in a collision.

22 Warning Light On problem of the 2005 Honda Civic

I had received the recall notice and made an appointment to fix the issue. A week after being replaced a warning light came on in my dash , I looked up the warning and found out it was related to the air bag deployment! 24 Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

takata recall I received a letter by mail saying there is a class action settlement for the takata airbags. The check airbag system warning light comes on randomly in my 2013 Honda Civic while stationary and in motion. Took to dealer and they can't figure out what is wrong or give me a straight answer. I went to the website provided, entered my VIN number but it said my car was not effected. There have been many more complaints for the 2013 Civic model for faulty airbags!! something is not right, this is a major safety issue and Honda needs to take care of it!!.

25 Warning Light On problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/04/2017

My air bag warning light has been on and my mechanic said that it should be included in the recall.

27 Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/05/2017

Check airbag system warning light coming on and off intermittently, whether the vehicle is moving or not. Dealership tech unable to positively identify exact problem or component unless alarm stays on all the time. They could only provide best educated guess. They suspect cable reel is bad. Apparently, when the light is on, air bags apparently will not work. Unacceptable. Have previously owned 3 other Civic 's, never had a single problem with the air bag system. Honda should have a better way to troubleshoot the system to definitively identify the specific defective component in the system. Warning light came on constantly yesterday after approx. A month, but residence is 400 miles from place of employment so it will be a couple days to get vehicle in to dealership to effect repairs. If the government is requiring these systems for safety, then as far as I am concerned they should never fail. Period. Any defect or problem with the system should be immediately corrected by the manufacturer at zero expense to the vehicle owner. I definitely do not feel as safe in the vehicle at the moment, and hope I don't get involved in an accident with this system not working. Just wanted to inform in case others may have experienced this same issue.

34 Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/15/2016

I purchased the vehicle in September 2015. About a month after I purchased the vehicle the service air bag warning light came on. The light would generally go off after I turned it off and turned back on. I brought the problem to Honda's attention and they said that it was throwing the code due to low voltage???? fast forward to 12 months later and the light goes on and off about 10+ times per day. Seems to me that if the airbag system is malfunctioning that there should certainly be a recall.
