59 Warning Light On problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

The airbag warning light in my 2006 Honda Civic ex has been illuminating intermittently for several months. It started by illuminating perhaps 5% of the times I was driving, but now it illuminates perhaps 50% of the time. I have been in no accidents. When I brought the car to Honda on 9-24 they could find nothing wrong. I brought it back again on 9-26 and they at first suspected a short in the wires, and said no hard codes were stored. After a more work Honda reported that the driver's side front airbag needed replacement. It seems to me that a passive element like this should not fail after only 8 to 9 years. Isn't this a defect?.

63 Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/31/2013

All of these issues have presented themselves while the car was on and in motion. Dear Honda: recall the airbags ASAP!! #1 sign of issue @ 45 miles: passenger airbag light/sensor would blink on-off intermittently (all the time) only while driving. Back driver window works intermittently. #2 @ 15000 miles: steering wheel controls intermittently worked backwards (volume up would turn down & vice versa. ) it wasn't frequently and always eventually started working correctly. #3 @ 40000 miles: airbag warning light came on stating "check airbags" it goes off every once in a while but is on 90% of the time. (not under warranty, the dealer wants $150 just to look. Having the car less 2yrs. And the airbag having issues since 45 miles and never being in an accident, I feel this should be something I should not have to pay for and can't afford anyway. Huge safety concern. #3 @ 60000 miles: my cruise control does not work. It won't even turn on. #4 @ 64000 miles: the horn does not work most of the time. All these issues and I've only had the car 2. 5 yrs. The cruise and volume controls not working is annoying but the horn and airbag is a huge risky issues. I'm not the first to complain. Honda is aware there is issues with the airbags in these models and still has not issued a recall? shame on you Honda! why wait? people are going to die because of the faulty airbags! how many before you make it right??!!.

64 Warning Light On problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/16/2013

I was advised by Honda north in clovis, CA, to replace the opds sensor and the opds control unit which should have removed the air bag warning light. It did not! I spent $697. 87 for this repair at visalia Honda only to be told they could not reset the air bags. I was then told the srs control unit needed to be replaced in order to reset the air bags. The quoted cost to replace the srs control unit was $450. 00. Also, I was told by visalia Honda's service manager, chris miller, that they had no way of determining why the warning light was coming so repairs were being made in some kind of pecking order. The srs control unit was replaced with american Honda providing the part while I paid $221. 54 for the labor. The warning light came on again in August 2014 at which time I was told by visalia Honda that the cable reel had intermittent failure and needed to be replaced at a cost of $413. 00. The cable reel has not been replaced. I have noticed many others having the same safety issues with their 2007 Civic but yet american Honda refuses to recall the vehicles.

My mother's 2005 Honda Civic airbag warning light came on and stayed on,she took it to a mechanic she trust and he said that it was probably the seatbelt tensioner but to be sure he hooked the car to the computer and sure enough it was. He said that he sees a lot of Hondas with problems with the seatbelt that cause the warning light to come on and was wonder why there wasn't a recall on this problem. The fix cost my mom about $600. 00 between the computer dignostic , labor and parts. He car only has 27000 miles on it and hasn't been in any accidents. She is 84 years old. I went online to look up this problem and there are a number of people that have this problem in fact the lady I work with has this problem with her Honda crv that's about the same year as my mother's Civic. . Just wonder if anything is being done? thank you for your time.
