Now, the airbag deployed while merging onto the freeway without any impact which was the scariest thing. I’m very concerned there are other issues. There were no warning signs on both incidents.

44 Air Bag problem of the 2020 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/23/2024

While making a slow right turn into a shopping plaza, I accidentally struck a median curb with only the driver’s side front tire. Despite the low speed and minimal impact, the passenger side front airbag deployed without cause, severely endangering my passenger. Aside from a flat tire, there was no damage to the body of the car. Fortunately, we were moving slowly enough to avoid injury, but had we been going any faster, it could have caused serious harm. After the incident, both front seatbelts locked, rendering the vehicle unsafe for both the driver and passenger. I later discovered that there are confirmed recalls affecting the passenger airbag system (specifically the front passenger seat weight sensor) for 2020 Honda Civics—my car’s exact make and model—but my VIN does not appear to be included, despite exhibiting the same failure. When I brought the car to a Honda dealership, I was told the recall did not apply and was quoted $10,000 in repairs for the srs and seatbelt systems. Rather than addressing the potential manufacturing defect, I was instead hounded to trade in the vehicle. I believe this incident reflects a serious safety malfunction tied to an existing recall and deserves investigation. My vehicle may have been improperly excluded from a recall campaign affecting others with identical equipment and model specifications.

47 Air Bag problem of the 2020 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/09/2024

On January of 2024 I received a letter from Honda informing me that my vehicle was affected by a recall regardimg a seat sensor of the airbag. I contacted the dealership to get the recall fixed because my vehicle is used for a car rental business and with the recall I am not able to operate the vehicle for rental purposes. I was told by my local dealer that if my dash oard light is not on they cannot fix it. I called several times for several months, the last time being today, December 09, 2024. Basically, I received the letter to notify me of tje recall, bit the dealer will not fix it. The recall description is provided below. Manufacturer safety-related recall issued NHTSA #24v-064 recall #zhf 2020-21 Civic seat weight sensor safety recall.

49 Air Bag problem of the 2018 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 11/08/2024

This was such a strange occurance. After pulling off from a stop sign attempting a right turn, my vehicle stalled, readjusted, then stalled again. I was driving on a cobblestone road while it was raining, but did not find any issues with vision or traction. However, during this process, my passenger airbag deployed out of nowhere causing me to immediately stop the car to see if I had hit something. There was nothing under or beside my car indicating any significant impact that would have caused this to happen. There were no other cars, or any pedestrians involved, nor any debris or blockade in the road so I did not file a police report or contact my insurace. My sister was in the passenger seat, and my 3 children in the back. No one sustained any injuries, but the entire incident was extremely startling, shocking, and confusing. There is no damage on my car that suggests I hit something, but I have no idea what could have caused an airbag to deploy, and why only that one? being that I was pulling off on a turn, I was not going fast enough for me to think that the cobblestone could have set off a "pothole like" effect to the sensors. After research revealed there have been recalls on previous models concerning the takata airbags, I reached out to a local Honda dealer for help. The associate immediately disregarded my account of the incident stating that "there hasn't been any recalls on the 2018 Honda Civic" and that I should "take it to a body shop and see if the insurance will take care of it". I assumed he had no intention of helping me at all because I had reached the service department with a Honda service issue, so why would he not at least offer to have me bring it in to be fix there, even if I had to pay out of pocket? this lead me to do further research in which I found that there is in fact a current recall on the fuel pump, which is known to cause issues with stalling. I feel misled by Honda, and would like an explanation, as well as accountability.

50 Air Bag problem of the 2024 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/28/2024

The contact owns a 2024 Honda Civic. The contact stated that when attempting to make a left turn into a parking lot, after being idle, the steering wheel seized while still turned to the left. This caused the vehicle to continue turning to the left. The vehicle ended up crashing into another vehicle nearby ultimately coming to a complete stop. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact's left hand was fractured. The driver in the other vehicle received injuries as well however the contact was unsure of their exact injuries. Medical attention was needed for both the contact and the other driver. The contact was able to drive their vehicle to their residency. The other vehicle was damaged and needed to be towed. A police report was filed. The contact called the dealer who informed that the VIN was attached to NHTSA campaign number: 24v744000 (steering) however the remedy would not be available till December 6, 2024. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,000.

51 Air Bag problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/20/2024

I was 3 hrs away from home and I started my vehicle and the air bag light began flashing and beeping. The light was on the message board that indicates my speed, clock, fuel, etc. It basically is the information center for the car. I pushed the information button on the steering wheel to clear it but it kept blinking and flashing the entire way home. I also turned off the engine and restarted it but no luck with that either. It was a very distracting experience having to drive 3 hours like this. I made an appointment with my mechanic and he diagnosed it as the occupant passenger detection sensor. This will cost $800. 00 to repair. The car is not drive able in this condition because of the safety of the air bag. I looked up recalls but it seems my car has none.

52 Air Bag problem of the 2025 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/10/2024

I was stopped at a stoplight and the car ahead of me moved up slightly so I took my foot off the brake. I did not accelerate by pressing the gas pedal and I was going approximately 1-2 mph. Car in front of me slammed on their brakes and I tried to depress my brake and the brake alert signal inside the car started flashing, but it was a delayed reaction and the air bags in the steering wheel and below my feet by my legs deployed as I braked. There was no damage to the other car and a bumper gap occurred on my car and the air bags deployed and seatbelts locked in my vehicle. I barely touched the other car. Air bags malfunctioned by deploying at no real impact, air bag cut my hand, seatbelts were all replaced in vehicle, air bags replaced, bumper replaced, air bag sensor replaced.

66 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/07/2024

The airbag light comes on sporadically - almost all of the time when it's cold, and then on/off when it is warmer. Throws the code b0001-13 - open or increased resistance in driver's airbag inflator. Brought it to the dealership and they told me that I needed to get the whole driver's side airbag replaced (to the tune of $1300 dollars). With the plethora of recalls surrounding 2000s to 2010s Civics, I have a hard time believing this shouldn't be covered under some sort of recall, especially with the amount of other people online who have experienced the same issue.
