The contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated when he started the vehicle up with the auto started on the key fob, he noticed that smoke was coming from under the hood. The contact tried to unlock the vehicle with the key fob, but the vehicle would not lock. He tried to unlock the vehicle with the senor on the door handle, but the vehicle still would not unlock. The contact stated he unlock the vehicle with the spare key in the fob and shut down the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis, and they stated that battery and the starter of the vehicle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and they stated that the warranty had expired and that he would have to pay out of pocket for the repairs. The failure was 36,000.
