1 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/10/2020

While driving on a city boulevard at about 35 mph, the navigation screen went blank. Seconds later, the following message was displayed: "anti theft system. This system has lost power. Push and hold the power button for more than two seconds to enable the system. " I assumed that the vehicle was directing me to hold the radio power button, so I did and held it for two seconds, but it made no difference. I then pulled over when safe, turned the vehicle off, waited for 1 minute and then turned the vehicle back on. The navigation screen was back on to normal. The incident occurred on June 10, 2020 and this is a 2018 model. The battery that initially came with the vehicle died on February, 2020 after requiring a jump start.

2 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/13/2018

Purchased this car from keating Honda in conroe, TX. Since day 1 I have had issues with my lcd screen that controls the audio and climate. About mid September I started having issues with it shutting off along with the lcd screen behind the steering wheel that shows how fast I'm going. Dealership aware but had issues with getting loaner so unable to drop off for repair. The screen would flicker and shut off while driving or "audio isn't responding" error shows up and both lcd screens go out while driving. I would start the car and would receive an error message like "anti theft system: this system has lost power. Press the power key for more than two seconds to enable the system" . . . Please fix your shit! I was given a warning in conroe because I was speeding and unaware of my speed due to this issue and it seems to be a daily problem for me.

4 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2017 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/02/2017

This incident was 4 months aftwr purchase. I parked a friend's house, and the battery drained over the course of 3 hours. I came out and start the car, and it wouldnt start. The car keep on making this continuous beeping noise every time I open and close the door. It usually only do that if the key isn't near the car, but this time the keys are on me. The trunk will not open no matter what you press. I had to get my friend to jump the car with cables. While I was driving home, it didn't show the normal screen, but it showed some anti theft message. Once I got home, it told me to hold down for longer than two seconds to have the system restart. I did that but nothing happened. I left it over night and it was normal again the next day. Right now, as I'm writing this complaint, there's another problem. An hour ago, I parked at a restaurant's parking lot. I came out 40 minutes later and cannot start thr car. The display in front of me is showing "brake system problem. " I'm waiting the the tow people to tow my car right now. In six months I have experienced 2 major problems which cause quite an inconvenience.

5 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/28/2015

I was traveling at low speed in a parking lot when I noticed that the engine had suddenly turned itself off. At that moment I noticed that the metal part of the ignition key had separated from the plastic key fob, and the plastic part, with the rest of my keys attached, had dropped to the floor of the car. After investigation, I saw that the small screw that holds the plastic and metal parts together had pulled through the thin slip of plastic to which it was attached. The engine apparently turns off if the key fob is not in close proximity to the ignition. This mechanism presumably has anti-theft functions, while also preventing anyone but Honda from selling replicate keys. In this case it had the wholly undesired effect of shutting off the engine of a car in motion. In order to re-start the car, the parts had to be precariously jammed back together, and I was forced to drive home with the fear that they would again re-separate and cause the engine to turn off. Under normal circumstances, it is impossible to take the key out of the ignition when the car is in gear, but under this apparently unanticipated failure mode, if the key fob experiences a sudden structural failure, the engine does turn itself off. This situation represents a safety hazard because of the risk that the car will abruptly lose both engine power and power steering. I was in a parking lot when this happened, but if I had been traveling at highway speed, or in traffic, the situation could have been very dangerous. It seems reasonable for the key fob to be required to start the engine, but once the engine is running, loss of the signal from the fob should not result in the engine turning off.
