1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2022 Honda CR-V

My 2022 Honda Cr-v hybrid began displaying multiple warning messages around February 2025: “transmission system problem,” “blind spot info system problem,” and “emission system problem. ” the issue was eventually traced to incorrect transmission fluid used from the time of purchase. A diagnostic report confirmed widespread internal transmission damage (e. G. , shift solenoids stuck, low fluid pressure, excessive clutch slippage). As the transmission failed, it overwhelmed the vehicle’s main computer (pcm), causing a breakdown in the f-can network and disabling connected safety systems like the blind spot monitoring and emissions modules. The drivability of the vehicle deteriorated rapidly—gear shifting became rough and unpredictable. The car began struggling to accelerate above 40 mph, especially during inclines or highway merges. This posed a safety risk not only to me but also to passengers and other drivers due to reduced control and system failures. I rely on this vehicle for work and have since had to limit driving to local roads only, avoiding highways entirely. The issue was confirmed by an independent service center. Diagnostic reports and dashboard photos were submitted to the manufacturer, but they have not accepted responsibility. Their representative acknowledged the symptoms but insisted it was the selling dealer’s issue. Meanwhile, the transmission continued to degrade. I believe this defect originated at the manufacturing or pre-delivery stage. The wrong fluid caused irreversible internal damage that has now jeopardized the vehicle's powertrain and safety systems. Despite reports, photos, and repeated communication, the manufacturer has delayed action, and the vehicle is now outside the powertrain warranty mileage due to this delay.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2019 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/02/2024

As I was attempting to quickly accelerate to merge onto the freeway my vehicle experienced extreme hesitation and engine misfires. All my dash warning lights were then illuminated. My vehicle nearly came to a stop. This nearly caused me to be rearended by vehicles on the freeway especially an 18-wheeler that was quickly approaching to my rear. I limped onto the side median where I stopped my vehicle turned it off and then restarted it. It restarted but all the warning lights were still illuminated. I managed to drive slowly to my dealership where my vehicle had just been around two weeks prior for a similar incident (only the one engine warning light was illuminated) where they replaced my fuel pump under recall. On my latest incident they did a diagnostic check, and it displayed dtc codes p0172, p0300, p0301, p0302, p0304, multiple cylinder misfires and fuel rail pressure too high. At their recommendation they replaced my fuel injector and spark plugs. My vehicle was 4 months and 8000 miles out of the extended Honda care warranty I had purchased when I bought my vehicle, so I had to pay for the repairs. Nearly 10 days later my vehicle was experiencing similar symptoms of hesitation and misfires upon rapid acceleration with all dash warning lights illuminated. I stopped and restarted my car drove it to an auto parts store where they ran a computer diagnostic check, and it showed random misfires and also this time it said I needed my pcm reprogrammed. I managed to reset the codes and now looking to sell my vehicle. I felt compelled to notify Honda corporate customer relations via email, not just for a reimbursement of payment but also for safety notification; they checked my VIN and was told since there was not a current campaign on that VIN and it was out of warranty so it's up to me to repair. I believe it is a safety issue affecting my model like it has affected others.

4 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/29/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Cr-v. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving 35-40 mph, the infotainment system became inoperable. The contact stated that infotainment system became operable after parking the vehicle in the driveway. Additionally, the contact stated while at a complete stop, she noticed that the engine was about to stall. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal simultaneously, and then releasing the brake pedal, she was able to drive. Several warning lights related to the brake system, the transmission, the fuel system, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the dtc: p0172 was retrieved. The mechanic determined that the fuel system was running significantly rich, the pcm was malfunctioning, and that there was fuel dilution from the engine oil. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The dealer charged a repair fee, but the contact declined to pay for the repair and advised the dealer to complete the recall repair. The dealer declined to complete the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

8 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/29/2020

2018 Cr-v (~38,200 miles) unexpectedly halted (loss of power - engine kept running) going ~35 mph on lakeville hwy/116 in busy traffic and showed engine/emissions check light and other warning lights. Towed to dealer where diagnostic codes p061b ecm/pcm internal malfunction (torgue calculation), c1870-00, u0401-68, u3003-s6 were seen. Per american Honda motors (ahm), dealer was to clear codes and try and replicate malfunction which they were unable to do having driven it 60 miles. Ahm would not replace ecm/pcm as dealer was not able to replicate. I had safety concern so after speaking with lead service technician at dealer paid $~441 to have ecm/pcm replaced. I was not comfortable driving the vehicle with nothing being done. I believe that such codes should mandate car company to ensure safety of owner with paid replacement of faulty part. I hope others have not experienced this, not replaced the part and subsequently gotten into an accident as a result.

9 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2011 Honda CR-V

Interstate highway driving at highway speed 70mph up an incline or hilly area would cause the 2011 crv engine to hesitate accelerating, causing a high rpm rev but no speed increase, I. E. The engine would struggle to keep the same speed requiring the driver to drive at lower speeds like 60mph to avoid the excessive rpm. This potentially is a danger to other vehicles on the highway interstate. Honda is already aware of this and has issued a technical service bulletin #10-077 for dealers to update the pcm pgm-fi software to the latest version. However given 2011 vehicles are no longer in warranty, the owner is often forced to pay dealers 1 full hour of diagnostics fee instead of the 0. 3 hour flat rate labor outlined in Honda's TSB for in-warranty vehicles.

10 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2015 Honda CR-V

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Cr-v. Each time the vehicle was at a stop sign or traffic light, it vibrated. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and was guided on how to repair the failure. The radiator, lower cussing, tr s-b kit rad mt lower cussing mounting, trans, three bolt, flange, 12 x 35 bolt 12x40 bolt 12x40 mut, flange (12mm) kit, and fr head cvt software were updated. The dealer's report indicated that the pcm may cause pressure issues in the seat vt affecting the driving condition. The technician updated the cvt software as per the service bulletin and replaced the front driver's seat. The repair did not correct the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer a second time and the contact was advised to call the manufacturer. The contact called the manufacturer and was informed that they were looking into the failure. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified by the technician who was waiting on the solution, but was unable to provide a permanent remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 22,179.

2016 Honda Cr-v vibration issue - more than two months ago, I started to notice a slight vibration under my driver's seat when at idle, e. G. Sitting at a traffic light. Shortly thereafter, I received a notice from ahmc regarding a software update that needed to be done ASAP on my vehicle. The notice mentioned that, "the software in the pcm causes a low pressure problem in the cvt. This may allow the belt in the cvt to slip. If the belt slips, you may see a surge in rpm when driving at highway speeds. If the belt slips the transmission will be damaged and dtc p1890 (the cvt speed control system) will set. " the software update was completed about a month ago and since then, I have experienced a more pronounced vibration under my driver's seat and even into the front passenger seat. The intensity of the vibration varies, but it has not gone away. Now that I have hit the 5k mile mark and had my first service done, I am afraid that the older the transmission gets, the worse this problem might become. The service advisor told me that the software update had nothing to do with the vibration issue, but I am not convinced. Before buying this vehicle, my research indicated that many customers with the 2015 model started to report the vibration issue right around this time (5k miles + or around the first scheduled service) and for most, the problem became worse. I am convinced that these issues are related to the new cvt transmission. I have always been loyal to the Honda brand and I really like this vehicle, but I am starting to regret my purchase!!! :-(.

I have a very known problem for this model year - very disturbing vibration in the cabin, when the engine is running in the 800-1800 rpm range, which is a very typical range in every day driving. Basically the problem is present during most of the city driving. During the drive - this vibration quickly escalates from being very annoying - to disturbing and eventually it causes headache and minor nausea, which definitely affects my driving ability!! now, I bought this vehicle brand new, and owned it for almost 2 years. Since the problem appeared almost right away - I've been taking the car to the dealership four times because of this issue. Eventually the dealership performed all the official "fixes" to this problem: 1) new radiator cushions, transmission mounts, and front head restraints. 2) update of the �pcm software� now, after the first series of fixes, the vibration got a little bit lower (though it still remained). . The dealer told us that these are the only available fixes and there is nothing else that they can do. Well, what could we do? we accepted it as is. . As something we will have to try to live with. However!!! that was not all!! later that year, we got a official letter from the dealership with a request to bring the car in for some kind of software update, which we did. And after that "upgrade" the vibration got much worst then even before! of course I brought the car back to the dealership and complained about vibration. They checked the car and claimed that at this point the vibration is the same level as on the rest of same model cars, and that there is nothing they can do anymore and that I just have to accept it! me and my wife cannot drive it for any prolonged periods of time because the vibration is very disturbing and gives headache.

Prior to the failure, the vehicle was unable to start. The failure occurred on two occasions. This is my third complaint filed with NHTSA regarding 6 instances of unwanted acceleration when braking. Since my last complaint I contacted my dealer, boardwalk Honda of 6807 tilton road, egg harbor township, new jersey 609. 428. 4422. The dealer made a contact with Honda corporate and an appointment with a Honda representative to inspect my vehicle was set. On Jan. 27, 2014 they had my vehicle for a full day. Because the unwanted acceleration did not occur on that date, I was given a report that nothing is wrong with the Cr-v. I had explained that it only occurred 6 times over a 6 month period and it was not reasonable to expect it to occur on a specific date during the inspection. I heard that it could be the power control module (pcm), but apparently Honda does not want to replace it as a safety issue. I need help with this problem before someone is hurt.

It took several attempts to restart the vehicle, but after ten minutes it finally restarted. All of the warning lights illuminated after the vehicle was restarted, but the check engine light continued to illuminate constantly. The consumer stated he would let the vehicle warm up every morning as there was a soft idle. The loan officer processed the loan through american Honda and due to their incompetence, they neglected to include themselves on the title which was received over six months ago and the title was mailed to pleasantville, NY vs. Pleasant valley, NY. By then, the consumer had received a loan from her local credit union and the loan with american Honda was paid in full. The consumer was informed she still owes for one month.

While driving the front tires (bridgestone 205/70 r15 95s all season tires traction rating b) loose traction on damp pavement and spin upon gradual acceleration from a stop with two or three attempts needed to move forward, the traction problem may be a combination of traction b tires and the high engine/transmission torque.
