Honda CR-V owners have reported 47 problems related to automatic transmission (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Honda CR-V based on all problems reported for the CR-V.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the vehicle would vibrate without warning. The vibration would stop once the contact began to drive above 25 mph. The contact had taken the vehicle to two separate independent mechanics who were unable to diagnose the failure. The contact had minor repairs performed on the vehicle by each mechanic; however, the failure persisted after each repair. The dealer nor the manufacturer have yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

2010 Honda crv. Consumer writes in regards to transmission problems. The consumer stated in may 2012, the vehicle shifted from 5th gear to 3rd gear, while traveling at 65-70 mph on the interstate. The consumer stated the cruise control was engaged at the time of the incident. It happened twice again. On each occasion, he moved to the shoulder, turned the ignition off, put the gear shift in park, started the engine, re-set the cruise control, and proceeded.

Honda 2006 Cr-v transmission problem. Transmission had to be replaced. After discovering the problem, the problem became severe within 3 weeks. Honda overcharged for the transmission repair and replaced the transmission with a rebuilt transmission rather than a new one. After reading the Honda complaints site, I discovered that Honda owners who have had their transmissions replaced are having problems with the replaced transmissions too. Also, the repair cost me $2,358. 81 after Honda supposedly contributed $1,500 to the repair. This cost is more than I would have paid if I had taked the car to an independent transmission shop for repair. I have never had transmission problems with any other car I have owned, including my Toyota camry, which had 279,000 miles on it when it was rear ended and totaled by a Ford 150.

Extremely sluggish acceleration from low speeds and from a stop. It is awful to try to merge with traffic on entrances of interstates and highways and just crossing streets that require decent acceleration. This is a hazard to me and those coming on the main roads as well as vehicles following my entrance into traffic. We have connected Honda customer service and the dealer. Both have acknowledged there is a problem, but as of now have no corrections. We were told that the car is performing as designed. Are they waiting until there are deaths associated with the performance of the 2010 crv like Toyota did?.
2010 Honda crv bought new. We have a driveline vibration noticed the day we took it home. We have 5 repair orders for the same problem with no resolution. 1 of the repair orders was done by an independent garage who noted the vibration and what he thought needed to be done but no repair was made. We are working with a lemon law attorney but dont feel like we are on the right track. I am a auto technician and not much of what I said was done. Honda is now trying to walk away from us. The lawyer siad she filed a claim with Honda 2 times and it was "denied". I dont understand that since the massachusetts lemon law, m. G. L. Ch 90 ⧠7n 1/2 states that it is presumed that the lemon law is satisfied if either of the following requirements is met: 1. The car was presented for repair on 3 or more occasions for the same nonconformity within one year or 15,000 miles from the date of original delivery of the car and the problem still exists. . We clearly fit this but the 1st time around with the lawyer she said we did not qualify and said " I understand you have experienced "issues" with your vehicle but some of the "issues" you have experienced do not fall under the lemon law. Concerns related to brakes, rotors, tires, wheels, alignments, cosmetic issues, wear & tear- are all items specifically excluded in your warranty booklet and although the dealer may decide to perform repairs at no cost under "good-will", they do fall within the lemon law so the manufacturer is not liable and therefore will not make you an offer of settlement. " this is not a "wear and tear problem if the car is new!!!!.
The contact owns a 2002 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle at his residence, he left the key in the ignition and within a few minutes when he returned to take the keys out of the vehicle, it was rolling backwards. The vehicle crashed into another vehicle. No injuries were reported. The police did not respond. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileages were 105,000.

The 2010 Cr-v has very sluggish acceleration from low speed and from a dead stop. We have a driveway that slopes down, and we have to floor the gas pedal to go up the drive way and even then it goes at a snail's pace. It is difficult to turn into traffic with out having to floor the gas pedal and even then, it can still be inconsistently sluggish (you never know how fast you start going or if you will start going). We have been in a number of near miss situations before we realized that since we can't judge whether the car will actually respond to the gas pedal, there can't be any cross traffic if we are going to pull out. I have contacted the dealer who acknowledges that there is a problem and that one of their service engineers has the Cr-v and found the same thing, however, nothing is being done to mitigate the problem. Is going to take traffic accidents and deaths before Honda does something about this issue?.
2005 Honda Cr-v vehicle accelerated
the consumer stated she parked in a parking space. With her foot on the brake, she placed the gear into park, removed her foot from the brake and suddenly, the vehicle accelerated into a building. When the vehicle finally stopped after hitting the wall, she went to shut it off and the gear was still in park.

2005 Honda cr v ,130,000 KS, at 1500 rpm veh. Mshutters then smoothes out at 1800 rpm occurs when going about 50 km/h ,dealership said this occurs its a 1800$fix or change tranny fluid 2 or 3 times , at 100 KS, intervals, did this it stills occurs but fewer times, im worried tranny will go, its a default in manufacturing.
The contact owns a 2001 Honda crv. The contact stated that the transmission would not go into park. He has contacted the manufacturer and they said that there was a recall on the 2002 crv but not the 2001. The failure is getting progressively worse. The vehicle has not been repaired. A newly purchased Honda crv 4wd 2008 model in manila. Driving was practically immobilized when malfunction indicator lamp(mil), vehicle stability assist (vsa) light, vsa activation light, and abs light were illuminated was an abnormal gear engagement, we were nearly hit from behind because of delayed, short-intermittent engine acceleration. Most of the warning lights deal with wheels and brakes but practically there was no engine rev when you step on the gas pedal.

After parking car and while braking to put it in "park" gear, the crv ex-l raced forward at high speed and veered to the right. Upon impact, the vehicle then went in reverse and when braking, the car races instead of stopping. Upon hitting the back curb and a vehicle, the car was thrust forward and raced forward. Crv ex-l would not respond to braking. Updated 04/25/08.
Transmission can not be shifted beyond d to 2 nor 1.

To begin, I recently purchased directly from manly Honda, in marin county, CA, earlier this Jan/Feb of 2007 a brand-new 2007 Honda Cr-v exl, $28k. A first-time car buyer, I had paid in full using my hard-earned money what I believed to be a reliable, dependable and trouble-free car. Alas, I began noticing some irregularities with the car soon thereafter. To name but a few, they are as follows:
1) a tapping sound in the back of my car;
2) a wet spot noted on the floor of my garage under the hood area;
3) intermittent inability to start the car whereby the battery light would come on; and
4) inability to accelerate, but sudden surge thereafter when driving. I brought my vehicle in to be serviced on Monday, August 13, 2007. Later that afternoon I received a call from sf Honda, the service dealer, to advise that:
1) the tapping sound in the back of my car is due to a welding defect. Having jacked up the car and removed all the back panels to the vehicle, they had determined that the defective weld or welds were located further within the vehicle and my car would need to be sent to an auto body shop to be further stripped apart to determine the number of defective welds in question. 2) a powder test performed on my engine had determined that it was a transmission leak and the entire transmission would need to be replaced. 3) they had yet to determine why my car would fail to start and the battery light appear; and
4) the sudden surging of my vehicle once I had stepped on the accelerator was due to the defective leak in the transmission. Upon hearing this, I was flabbergasted. Who would have thought that a brand-new car, a Honda which is noted for its reliability, would encounter such problems? and at 3,158 miles? and simultaneously? what does this say about Honda's quality assurance and manufacturing standards?.

- while stopped at a traffic light the contact put the 2002 Honda Cr-v into park and then switched the gear back to drive, but the shift locked into gear and would not switch over to drive. The contact had experienced the failure 3 times this year. The contact took vehicle to the dealership, and they replaced a fuse. The contact was not sure which fuse they replaced because he did not have a copy of the invoice. The failure mileage was 52,000 and the current mileage was 52,000. Update.
When purchased new in 2000 the ride was loose and jittery and the car could not be driven safely over 60 mph. Between 40 and 45 the front end bounced uncontrollably. The dealer drove the car (would not allow me to accompany) and declared "that's normal for this model. . . That's just the way SUV's ride. " after 80,000 miles at speeds below 60 the transmission self-destructed. After replacing the transmission the ride is excellent.

: the contact stated while driving 50 mph the engine revved. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. They determined the transmission was cracked and replaced the transmission, range sensor, range switch and oxygen sensor which remedied the problem.
Honda, 2003 crv 4wd with 50,000 miles. Engine light came on. Diagnostics revealed p0122 throttle position switch low volt caused automatic transmission not to shift correctly, and will prevent acceleration to highway speed. Dealer quoted $950. 00 for a replacement of throttle body with the throttle position switch. Discussions with other mechanics indicated other failures which may result in a Honda technical service bulletin (TSB) or recall.
2005 Honda crv VIN # jhlrd78805c027478 pulls to right, excessive torque steer. 5 service reports out of aligment. Struts relocated in front end.
While driving in a fog convoy at about 30 miles an hour, after about 15 miles the check engine light came on, and the transmission started to "jerk" during downshifting and "hang" during upshifting.
Honda Cr-v 4wd, auto, 2003 with 25000 m. Incidents - as the automatic transmission down shifted from up gear to 1st, there was a "jerk" and I almost hit vehicle up front my during the wet weather condition. After that I made testing on parking lot, that I can reproduce this jerk , and it reproducible. I drive car slow on first gear and slowly push a brake, not any jerk. But when I let car to shift to up a second and third gear and than gently to push brake, before car completely stop I feeling a jerk, that very dangerously on wet surface. Also I found in several forums, that people got roll over and thinking that case of abs or brake problem, but a same effect can be case when gears unexpectedly shifted down.
Consumer took vehicle to emissions test station, and was told that his failed the emissions test because it was misfiring. Consumer stated that emission officials gave him a paper that stated the codes that made his vehicle not pass the test. Consumer called the Honda dealer, and asked them to give him the meaning of the codes. When they did, and he asked what they meant, he was told that basically they meant that engine was misfiring. Consumer noticed that transmission was shifting weirdly, but he did not pay any attention to it. However, warranty expired.

Transmission problems, vehicle hard to shift. The consumer received a recall notice regarding the automatic transmission shift cable. The consumer took the vehicle to have the repair made, in which is was supposedly completed the same day, however on Aug 9th 2004, the vehicle accelerated from a parked position and crashed into a wall. The consumer did not believe the recall was performed completely, however the dealer stated otherwise.
Vehicle down shifts abruptly when stoppping, ehicle hesitates (occasionally)when driving, vehicle loses overdrive(occasionally).
This is the 3rd recall on my 2002 Honda Cr-v. The 1st was for the power-train-automatic transmission, the 2nd for electrical system-ignition switch, and now it's for the Cr-v a/t shift cable. The whole car seems faulty. What are my rights as a consumer? shouldn't they just give me a new car?.
Ignition was accidentally to be turned off and the key removed with the automatic transmission still in drive on 2 occasions up to date.
Vehicle jumped out of park and crashed into farming equipment on private property. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that some of the transmission parts were corroded. Honda didn't inform the consumer of the recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for months with a complaint of difficulty shifting. The consumer was almost rear ended twice because the vehicle wouldn't shift from reverse to drive.
Gear shift (automatic transmission) became stuck and would not go in or out of drive. Has happened on 2 occasions (August, 6000 miles) and (October, 8600 miles). Dealer cannot find a problem.
Consumer states while vehicle was parked and without any indication it rolled backwards. The mechanic informed the consumer the shift cable was dirty which may have caused the vehicle to roll.
The transmission went out. The vehicle was taken to the dealer which stated the oil smelled burnt. Please provide details.
2003 Honda crv shift cable malfunctioned resulting in an accident. ** answer required***. Less than 2 month after the consumer's vehicle was purchased it was involved in an accident. The vehicle was parked and the consumer was exiting the vehicle when it suddenly began to roll backwards down the driveway. The consumer became caught on the vehicle's door and was dragged down the driveway, across the street, across her neighbor's front yard until the vehicle finally stopped when it hit the neighbors porch steps. The consumer sustained a contusion to her left leg from her hip to her knee. A month after the accident the consumer received a recall notice for the a/t shift cable. The symptoms of the recall were exactly what the vehicle experienced. The consumer contacted the manufacturer but they refused to accept any responsibility stating that the consumer had to prove that the vehicle wasn't left in drive at the time of the accident.
Safety recall notice for a/t shift cable. The vehicle rolled back and hit the consumer. The consumer reached in the vehicle to take the keys out when this occuerd. The consumer was dragged several yards while holding the door. The vehicle continued moving backwards until it rested against the sidewalk. The consumer received a recall notice after the incident happened.
I have a 1999 Honda Cr-v and have had problems with the transmission about 1. 5 years after I bought it new. Gears don't shift right, wouldn't go into gear, I had a new transmission installed and still have same problem. The major thing is the clear coat paint keeps peeling alot of little places, 2 areas are big & it's getting the actual paint and rusting. I did purchase (was dumb) the finishing touch system that get's done once a year (I don't really know what they do) and that could be the problem.
When trying to accelerate transmission would start to slip, and consumer would have trouble moving the vehicle. Contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do anything.
