The cruise control / automatic transmission system of the 1998 Honda Cr-v have a potentially danderous problems. When the system is on cruise control @ 60-75 mph and encounters resistance, such as climbing a steady slope, the transmission shifts, causing very high engine rpms. The rpms hold at 5 to 6. 5 thousand for an extended amount of time before the transmission shifts back to fourth gear, returning the rpms to a safe level. This high rpm level must do damage to engine at times exceeding the red line.
Twice in the first 6 weeks I have reached for the radio controls and have accidently gotten the sleeve of my coat caught on the gear shifter causing me to shift into neutral from drive. My concern is if this could further and put the vehicle into reverse. This could cause and accident with injuries as well as doing damage to the transmission.
After the shift cable NHTSA recall campaign 03v 274000 was performed the vehicle jerked forward when slowing down or stopping. Also, when starting the vehicle it idled high.

Major issues: extreme vibration in front suspension when starting out from a stop; even with automatic transmission the car rolls backward on the slightest incline when foot is taken off the brake pedal; the tires are very slippery on wet surfaces causing the car to slide and skid.
