1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2015 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/25/2019

Replaced parking brake shoes that were down to bare metal and adjusted same. Brake cables have stretched and will not hold vehicle on even a gentle slope when fully engaged by foot petal pressed all the way to floor. Honda eliminated any parking brake adjustment on this model? this is a very common and very dangerous condition that Honda says can not happen. Whatever you do, do not stand behind a Honda crv with floor activated parking brake as the car will roll over you an a hill in neutral guarantied! no hope to use as an actual emergency brake at all as it will not slow down the vehicle appreciably when moving in neutral. Honda should not be allowed to sell this vehicle in the USA as this cable stretching is a clear and present lethal danger to all. Make them fix this non-adjustable parking brake cable or take the vehicles off the road. Tightening the brake shoes to the brake drum only heats up the brake shoes and tears off the very thin parking brake shoe pads. No common sense went into the decision to eliminate the adjustment capability of this brake cable parking brake system at all. Situation is very dangerous to allow Honda to not recall this parking brake non-adjustable cable system and replace same with an adjustable parking brake cable system. Very easy fix by manufacturing a new floor parking brake petal with incorporated cable adjustment screws. People will be injured and people will die if this is allowed to remain effectively unaddressed by Honda motor company.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2018 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/21/2019

I was driving to get license renewed when my car lost power and began to coast. The engine was on and I had to gun it to pick up speed. I turned around and headed for the Honda dealership. Upon getting there all systems were lit up maintenance wise and smoke was coming out of the underside where the brakes are. The service advisor said when she went around the car that it was so hot it would have burned her. Service tech said left front brakes extremly heated and smoke coming from the area. Found brakes have gotten hot. Cleared code present c0040-12. Brake switch stuck on. I advised never used hold brake unless I was sitting on steep hill. Tech unable to make vehicle do what it was doing to me but, the minute I got it out on the highway, it started doing the same thing. Tech advised brake pads ok and rotors have some heat spots in them but ok. They went ahead and changed the oil!!!!.

9 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/21/2016

My wife took vehicle (2012 crv ex 2 wd) to apostlakis Honda in hermitage PA for annual state inspection. Service personnel stated that vehicle required new rear rotors/ brake pads. Service rep stated that due to insufficient brake fluid reaching the left rear brakes, the pads had not functioned properly, resulting in damage to the rotor. As a result, vehicle needed new rotors/pads on rear of vehicle to pass state inspection at a cost of nearly $400. From the explanation of the service rep, it appears that a possible manufacturing defect was the cause of the premature disintegration of the left rear brake components. Considering the safety issues involved with defective and compromised braking system, I believe this concern needs to be addressed immediately. I believe Honda motors needs to compensate individuals such as myself who have been required to address and repair this problem.

10 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2014 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/23/2015

After 12000 miles noticed minor pulsating when braking. Problem got persistently worse where almost lost control of the car going down hill at 65 mph. Took in to dealer who performed an inspection. They reported front brake rotorwarping due to normal wear and tear. All brake pads showweed minimal wear. I stated to the dealer that I felt this was not normal. They told me to change my driving habits. After much discussion they decided to cover a portion of the cost but stated next time it would be my responsibility. This should not occur so early on.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/24/2015

Just went in for oil change and tire rotation and dealer is telling me because I have not driven that much my rear brake pads needs replacing because the pins in the rear brakes is frozen and keeping the rear brake pad in use even though I am not applying my brakes. Front pads are ok. He said I only had about 1/4 inch pad left before it dug into the rooters. 7,902 miles did not let dealer do work yet.

12 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2014 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/21/2014

On June 21, 2014 at approx 9:34 am, as I was coming out of my parking space to turn left, as I took my foot off the brake pad, slightly touched the gas pedal *& my car shot like a bullet! it was going so fast it was hard for me to control it (it was faster than being on the highway); I pressed on the brake pads & the car wouldn't slow down. I managed to make another left (as straight would have caused me to crash into the bldg) while the vehicle is moving at an unknown accelerated speed. As I turned left, going around vehicles, I pressed harder on the brake pad & the car shot even faster than before! I went through the fence & into a sedan that was parked across the street from the parking lot, my vehicle jumped & landed on the driver side parallel to the sedan. The airbags deployed, deflated, I took off my seatbelt, went to open the doors but the doors wouldn't open. I was frantic, the car was smoking, red & green lights were on the dashboard. I tried exiting via the sunroof; that worked, that's how I got out of the vehicle (with the assistance of people passing by). I had just leased this vehicle on Tuesday, June 17, 2014; it was a Honda crv 2014. Since then I've found some articles online where individuals have experienced almost the same frightening situation that I encountered (google acceleration when braking in Honda crv). I'm beyond scared to ride in a car or a taxi; I'm not sure when I would ever want to get in a car again. I'm even afraid of crossing the street when there's Honda at a stoplight. I can hardly sleep because the events keep playing in my head; I'm paranoid! I'm still experiencing aches and pains from the accident, no broken bones however. I'm seeking to sue Honda for what could have been an ending of my life, due to their product defect. Can you help me? can you refer to me a product liability attorney that would pursue a suit?.

13 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2013 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/23/2013

Taken to lancaster, CA Honda and they said front rotors have become warped/heated. Need to resurface rotors and clean and re-lube front brakes pads. Front brake pads at 7mm. Having under twenty thousand miles, was told this would cost me $120. 00. I feel this has a defective braking system and should be taken care of by Honda, not charged to the customer.

14 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2012 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/02/2012

Whenever I placed my car on parking an the e-brake if it was on a slope the car would keep going as if it was on drive or reverse. It happened a couple of times. I took it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong. When I took it to another shop they saw that the brake pads were worn out already with barely a couple of miles from new.

15 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/25/2012

The vehicles brakes are horrible, it the front rotors mostly, they deteriorate very quickly along with the high quality brake pads. I replaced the rotors at 70,000 and they are already getting damaged . There has been an unsettling vibration in the braking/steering system since we bought the car . I am convinced that Honda no longer makes quality vehicles and the sooner they stop making cars the better. At 25,000 miles we had the ac clutch start to slip on us while we were in about 120'f temps in bon our way to bullhead city. We arrived completely soaked in sweat and with the beginning stages of chapped lips from the hot air blowing from the ac. We had an air leak in the moon roof since we bought it, all Honda did was make us waste our time while the mickey moused the seal, on the way home from the dealers after they supposedly fixed it ,it started making the whistle again after I opened and closed it. I had grease prints all over the head liner from that experience. The leather arm rest started bubbling and peeling about a year after the purchase, it looks horrible . I have had better used cars then this. I have nothing to say about Honda except if you value your life and your families life and value what you buy with your hard earned money . Then don't ever ever buy a Honda. They deserve to go out of business and be sued by every person that ever bought from them .

16 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2010 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/16/2012

Incredibly fast wear on one left rear brake pads and grinding sound at all speeds. Visually checked all the brakes - the pads on all 3 are normal with little wear, but the left rear is totally worn. This happened within a few weeks. Also the rotors are worn uneven with "pitted" surface. This is not the due to a usage, but due to some mechanical problem. The problem is severe - I can not drive a vehicle!!!.

21 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 03/04/2011

Having vibrations when applying brake , especially on a downgrade going 60 plus mph! took it to dealer twice, the first I had to pay for resurfacing rotors and reusing my old pads, big mistake! now dealer for the second time suggests for me to pay rotors and brake pads, just crazy! I only have 22,000 miles and I'm still under my three year or 35,000 miles warranty! big [xxx]! sorry! a 30,000 car and not wiling to pay a 400. 00 bill , cheap ! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. 23 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/28/2010

I have a 2008 Honda crv with 18,000 mls still under warranty I might add. Here is the kicker I had to pay for resurfacing rotors and sanding down pads for $ 152 , blaming me that the brakes have overheated and that is why it needed the work. My question is how? the company could not give me an answer or proof me of that situation , I find it hard to believe this is the case! I told them that rotors had to be defective from the purchase of the car because the only time I realized it, I felt this problem only when I was going on a downgrade going at 80 mph . In the city can not be verified no symptom occur what's so ever. I feel this rotors are to small or the quality are of poor quality! I also found on edmounds. Com a review, literally pointing out the brakes not at of high standards! I'm shocked that this item hasn't come out forward , especially on such a critical part of the vehicle , its brakes! this car was purchased from scott robinson in torrance, California . Please have this issue investigated and get my brakes fixed the right way!.

27 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/06/2006

I purchased a "certified Honda" vehicle, a 2002 Honda crv in June 2005. I was told that the brakes, both front & rear passed pennsylvania inspection but did not pass Honda's certified inspection so they were replaced to make the vehicle a "certified Honda". (they were replaced on 6/1/05) I have had the vehicle for 1 year, took it for inspection on 6/12/06 to find out that the rear brakes are down to a 1/b or far below passing - completely gone! I have driven the vehicle under 7000 in the year that I have owned it. I called the original (and only other owner) of the vehicle. He told me that he had the same problem when the vehicle was under 1 year old. He was told that Honda knew that there is some kind of defect in the design that causes the rear brakes to wear extremely fast in the 2002 & 2003 crvs, especially in the northern states because of our winters. He was told that the brakes need to be greased to help prevent this- something I was not told when I purchased the vehicle. When I asked the service mgr at the Honda dealer about this, he said they suggest it be done every 7500 miles. I have not even driven 7000 miles on the car. If Honda is aware of this problem with the rear brakes, why hasn't there been a recall?? are they waiting for the brakes to fail and kill someone before they do something??.

28 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/17/2004

A few months after buying the Cr-v I have noticed a strange clacking noise around the front wheels mainly when slowly bumping into speed-bumps or during some sudden low-speed braking. I have reported the strange sound twice to Honda service personnel during maintenance service visits and they have told me that the sound is characteristic to this model without attempting to troubleshoot the issue or file it into the car service report.

29 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/02/2004

My 2003 Honda crv has only 27000 miles on it. During a long drive on a vacation, the rear brakes began to fail. When I arrived at my destination, the rear pads were gone and the rear disks were destroyed. I paid nearly $500 to replace the rear disc brakes. The front disc brakes show only 50% wear. The original back brakes were clearly defective, although Honda will not admit this.

30 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/26/2004

Caller had problems with rear brakes. Caller heard grinding and scraping when applying the brakes. Dealer in area said both back brake pads were shot, and dealer replaced them. Manufacturer told caller to go to local area dealer to get reimbursement for repairs. Caller said she had this problem going forward and backward when she applied the brake.

31 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/07/2004

I own a 2002 Honda Cr-v which has a disk brake defect. All 4 disk brake calipers are developing corrosion inside of the pistions. The dealer replaced the rear pads and rotors because they had worn and frozen to the wear indicators after 13,000 miles. They stated that they were "insufficiently lubricated" from the factory and added more grease to take care of the binding condition. The front ones are now showing the same signs of failure after 15,000 miles. Is there a way to persue that the dealer replace all 4 brake calipers due to the corrosion defect? my concern is that the pistons inside of the calipers are rusting through and may fail, causing accident/injury.

32 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 09/23/2003

Vehicle brakes are totally worn out. While driving the consumer heard a high pitched squeal. The dealer determined that the rear brakes were worn. The consumer believes the brakes failed prematurely, but the manufacturer stated that it was normal wear. The dealer replaced the rear pads and rotors.

33 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Honda CR-V

When applying pressure to the brake pedal a "clanking" noise is heard. Dealer has to replace the clips that hold the brake pads in place. Approximately two months after purchasing the vehicle consumer heard and felt a loud clunk noise in the brakes. Dealership advised this was a "normal characteristic" of the brakes. Now a year and a half later, they state there is a "fix" for the problem. Now they use clips to hold the caliper pads in place to keep them from moving. Consumer questioned if this was normal why is there fix for it.
