While driving at 5-10 mph in a grocery store parking lot the vehicle suddenly flashed a brake warning light and came to a jarring stop. There were no obstacles in the path of travel. It was taken to schlossman Honda and no problems could be found. American Honda has since asked us to sign a consent form to collect the radar and camera for study.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle resumed normal operation after the vehicle was turned off and restarted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer paragon Honda located at 57-02 northern blvd, woodside, NY 11377, where it was diagnosed and the contact was informed that an unknown software update needed to be performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,960.
The safety system (Honda sensing) that detects a car or pedestrian in your path and engages the brake warning light and automatic braking mechanism will sometimes engage at highway speeds when there is no object any where near the car. If this engages that could cause the car to stop on the highway causing a collision. I have had this happen 6 times and 2 of those 6 times the warning light came on and and braking occurred. The other 4 times the warning light with the brake indicator came on which was distracting.
Honda crv-2018 suddenly stops while driving; also the brake light is flashing; no car is in front.
We have a 2017 Honda Cr-v. On April 29, 2020, I was driving straight on a city street going about 20-25 miles per hour. There were no other vehicles or any other obstacle in front of my car. Without warning, and on its own, the car's orange brake warning light came on and the car was brought to a hard stop in the middle of the road. The items on the back seat were thrown to the floor and we were thrown forward in our seats in the front enough that the seat belts engaged. This was instant and then immediately the car resumed to normal operation. We notified the dealer and they indicated that they had not head of this happening before and that Honda did not have any recall for this yet. This was a frightening experience - fortunately no one was behind us, but suppose there had been or we had been on the highway with more traffic and large trucks.
While driving on a main road, I went through an intersection with no cars in front or to the side of me, but 2 cars close behind me. When I went through the intersection, my brake lights began flashing and then my car stopped itself on impact. The 2 cars behind me swerved around me almost causing an accident. There were no vehicles that should have set off the automatic breaking and the weather conditions were fine.
The automatic breaking function is randomly applying the brakes, or warning to brake, at random times when there are no other vehicles or people around the car. The automatic braking system has applied itself 3 times, with very hard braking to the point that the seatbelts locked up, while merging or exiting the freeway, going anywhere from 25-45 mph'ish. One time I was almost rear ended and the vehicle behind had to swerve to avoid hitting me (because they were also tailgating), another time was while exiting a bridge, and the most recent was this morning while merging onto the freeway in front of a big rig and the brakes randomly slammed themselves on for absolutely no reason. While driving on surface streets it has automatically applied the brakes lightly at least twice, and given countless false braking warnings when driving around city streets. This is a major safety hazard!.
While driving in cruise control, the brake light will come on and the vehicle will almost come to a complete stop, with no one in front of me. My wife and I were almost in an accident when this happened on I-75 at 65 mph. Also, this brake light indicator will come on without being in cruise. This has happened over 6 times.
Vehicle was shut off at a tire shop to get new tires put on. Upon attempting to start the car again, a warning showed up on the screen saying "electronic brake failure". The car is equipped with electronic brakes that automatically turn on when the car is put into park and turned off. They are supposed to turn back off when the car is started, but on this occasion they were unable to turn back off. This stopped the car from being able to start at all, multiple indicators on the dash were throwing errors, the check engine light was on, the brake light was flashing, and it continued to show "electronic brake failure". When the dealership was contacted they said there wasn't anything they could do but to tow it 2 hours away to look at it, then they suggested disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to get the brakes to release, which was done and did release the brakes and clear the error. Because the battery was removed, any codes stored were cleared so when it was brought in the car showed that everything was fine and they were unable to reproduce the issue. It seems to be a common enough issue now on all new Hondas with the electronic brake feature to the point that googling it will come up with multiple forums talking about it.
On Monday, 8-20-18, the collision avoidance system caused the car to slam on it's brakes. There were no other vehicles or pedestrians anywhere near the vehicle. In the past, the brake light on the dash has lit up before with no vehicles around, but this is the first time it has slammed on the brakes. I took it to the dealer who said everything checked out fine, then printed out a bunch of papers for me explaining how the system works, which is basically saying it didn't happen. We are very fortunate that there were no cars behind us. This is a serious issue which needs to be dealt with before someone gets hurt.
For a second time we have taken the vehicle to the service department after having problems with it not having power to go past 2 rpms and pulling as if it has a problem with the fuel line. After having vehicle towed the first instanceon10/17/2017 they checked it and could find no evidence of anything gone wrong, the car was only 2 weeks old. This second incident comes 1 month later and now the brake system light came on and even though the gear shifter was in the correct position there were two letters on top of one another and blinking. We could only drive it up to 30 miles an hour without it pulling. There were no problems breaking. 11/21/2017.
I pulled into a parking lot going about 2 or 3 mph. When I pulled into the parking space to park, I pressed on the brake pedal but the pedal didn't seem to move. It felt solid and there were no brakes. My car jumped the small curb and hit a vehicle in the adjacent parking lot. My driver side airbag deployed. The car was towed to the body shop and the body shop owner said the brake system light was on. Honda agreed to have the car towed to the dealership to have a Honda certified mechanic check out the brake system. A Honda representative came to the dealership to check out the brake system and said they can't replicate the problem so there is nothing they can do. They said I should drive it and monitor the brakes. With the possibility of the brakes failing again, I don't want to drive that vehicle again.

I own a 2006 crv with under 33000 miles, I take very good care of this vehicle as I'm the original owner. So all of a sudden while driving on the highway my vsa, abs, engine, tps (triangle explanation point symbol) and brake light come on. I take it to the dealer and I'm told the vsa module needs replacing! costing $2400. Wow! that's expensive. I think this part should be investigated considering the severity! this part is vital and how has $2400 burning a whole in there pocket? please help! this is so frustrating!.

Low beams went out, then the battery burned up. Replaced bulbs and battery both worked fine for a week then headlights went out both low beams and high. Marker lights are flashing like strobe lights. The brakes are grabbing when you apply them. One side of the rear brakes wear out faster than the other side. The abs and brake light come on until you turn on the fan or lights then they flash on and off.

The right front tire wobbles while driving, street and highway. Orange brake light flashes in dash while driving on city streets and highway when I tap brake paddle. Concerned about possible brake failure. I have asked the dealership if my "new" car was damaged before I purchased it, of course I was told no. Once my car turned off at a red light. My car was checked and nothing found.

Steering locked up and driver lost ability to steer. Vehicle moved to left. Driver tried to brake but brakes failed. Witnesses described vehicle lurching to left and seeing brake lights come on but vehicle did not slow down. Car hit a street lamp and bounced to the right. Side airbags deployed. Front left wheel fell off the car. Driver sustained a mild concussion. Note that Honda has issued a recall for some 2006 Cr-v's related to suspension which could cause loss of steering (Honda recall 12-020). This vehicle was not included in the recall but the incident seems very similar to the recall issue.
Honda 98 crv and 97 civic both have had the pad (that is what is called, $4 part) break and this causes the brake lights to stay on while driving. Driver has no warning and driving with the brake lights on causes the people behind the driver to slam their brakes on at higher speeds which can cause a accident. A worker at the dealer told me that they are seeing a lot of cars this age have this breakage and it doesn't seem to have to do with usage (both cars have less then 50,000 miles on them). The broken pieces turn yellow thus I think they cannot take high heat and fail because the heat breaks them down. I fixed the problem by buying a new part and have the pieces if you would like them of the old part. I am concerned that peoples lives are being put in danger because a cheap plastic was used instead of one that was made for conditions inside a car.
