I own a Honda Cr-v 2013 awd with 60,000 miles. I'm the second owner. I purchased the car from carmax in 2016 with 27,000 miles. After several months of owning the vehicle one morning I hear this loud grinding noise lasting a few seconds after initial start up of vehicle when stationary. This sound has continued on and off at all different times of the day.

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that when applying the brakes for the first time each day, a grinding noise emitted from the rear brakes and then the grinding noise would go away until the next day. The contact indicated that the problem eventually progressed to where the grinding noise was present the first 3 times the brakes were applied and then the noise would dissipate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the noise was caused by rust build up behind the rear rotors. The rotors were cleaned and the problem was solved. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage was 13,900. Pam.
Rear brakes started making a grinding noise when first time applied each morning. Slowly condition kept getting worse, but after no more than three applications of brakes, condition ceases for that day only to re appear the next day. I thought it might just be a cold weather condition. However, having just returned from southern florida for six weeks with the condition continuing, I took it to the local Honda dealer upon my return on March 12, 2015. They told me this was a normal service condition caused by rust build up behind the rooters and needed to clean the brakes every 20,000 miles. I told them I have owned numerous cars in the last 60 years putting over 100 k miles on several and never heard of this condition. I have also contacted Honda corporation hotline and they would not confirm or deny this to be a service condition.
I was driving through my area at or near 15 mph. When the car suddenly accelerated on its own to a speed of 30-35 mph. The brake pedal felt very stiff and was difficult to hold the car at 30 mph with constant braking. There was no traffic and the incident occured not far from my home, so I proceeded back home. The car would not decelerate. I have a very long driveway that I pulled into, put the car in nuetral, turned off the key and pulled the emergency brake. There was a loud grinding noise as the engine wound down. I immediatly contacted the dealership where the car was purchased and told them what happened. They sent a tow vehicle to pick up the car since it was not safe to drive it to them. They said they drove the car multiple times and performed diagnostic tests on the vehicle finding no problems after having the car for three days. The invoice however showed identical mileage in and out of their facility when it was picked up Jan. 2, 2014. On Feb. 11, 2014, I was in traffic stopped at a red light, my right foot pressing on the brake pedal. Without warning the engine revved, the brake pedal stiffened and the car lurched forward hitting the rear of the vehicle in front of me, doing damage to both vehicles. Both the dealership and Honda of America have been notified and a claim has been filed. Research shows that this is not an unheard of complaint or occurance for this make, model, year vehicle as evidinced buy complaints to you. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained by the dealership and I am the origanl owner and only driver. This is my first accident in over 50 yrs of being a licensed driver.

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the vehicle pulls to the right and makes a loud grinding noise when driving in reverse. He took the vehicle to the dealer three times for the failure and they changed the brake oil differential and suggested that the oil be changed every three to four thousand miles. This corrected the failure temporarily, but the grinding noise recurred a week later and the vehicle began pulling to the left again. A report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that a representative will inspect the vehicle. The vehicle has not yet been inspected. The failure mileage was 21,804 and current mileage was 92,000.
