My rear hatch for the trunk was filling up with water every time it rained. Took it in to be looked at and they found the door wasn’t sealed during manufacturing and they sealed it. The water damage was already done and buttons for all things no longer lifts or opens the trunk door. My dash displays “ power tailgate problem” and nothing works to open it. I have to do it manually and I’m afraid it will cause further problems to the door.

The idle stop feature sometimes fails to reengage / restart the engine. One time, the van failed to restart and the vehicle completely locked up while I was in an exit ramp to the freeway. I had to turn the van off and turn it back on to get it to shift into drive and go. Similar events have happened a number of times, since the summer of 2025. We have taken it to the dealer twice now, and have been told to "monitor" it. We found the NHTSA report #ea25004 and believe this is the issue we are experiencing. Occasionally, the idle stop will restart, but it's a very violent restart (car sputters and chokes in restart, sounds like it might stall). The car will make a warning light flash and give an error message, but it always clears too quickly to read it.

Car would randomly die while I was driving, causing my children and I to be in severe danger in the middle of a busy road multiple times.
The main screen went black for 3 mins while driving. Booted halfway back up then crashed again. Booted up again and then worked. Its done this 3 times and I've had van for 6 days. 32k miles one owner. Mint looking.
2015 Honda Odyssey with approx 34000 miles. During auto stop/start events the van intermittently would not restart. This issue was worse during warm weather and occured throughout the summer of 2025. It was also noticed that the van sometimes would experience hard starts when restarting soon after a drive. It appeared to be a heat soak issue with the starter and the starter could not turn over the engine. There were no service lights present during this issue. After it failed to start, you would need to turn the ignition off then back on to attempt to restart. Service was performed at performance Honda in fairfield ohio on 11/21/2025, and although the van passed all tests in regards to battery and starter. Initially the van was not going to be repaired/covered, but the van happened failed to start while in the service bay. The starter assembly was replaced under warranty on 11/25/2025. This is a safety issue when the van doesn't restart while at a stoplight or even worse when attempting to pull out into traffic.

Complaint: 2025 Honda Odyssey auto start/stop system failure component failed: auto start/stop system fails to restart engine after automatic shutdown. Vehicle available for inspection. Appears related to investigation inoa-ea25004-10033. Safety risk: vehicle has failed to restart approximately 12 times since may 2025, all at intersections with active traffic. When auto start/stop engages at stoplights and fails to restart, the vehicle remains stationary and blocks traffic lanes when lights turn green. This creates hazardous conditions where other vehicles must maneuver around a stalled vehicle in intersections, risking rear-end collisions and traffic disruptions. Dealer confirmation: yes. Authorized Honda dealership tested battery (good), contacted Honda customer support directly. Honda acknowledged the issue but provided no diagnostic solution or repair procedure. Dealership's only recommendation was to manually disable auto start/stop every time the vehicle is operated. This is unacceptable for a new vehicle and defeats the purpose of this factory system. Manufacturer inspection: authorized Honda dealership consulted with Honda customer support. No fix or remedy provided. Warning symptoms: none. No warning lamps or dashboard messages appear before or during failure. Auto start/stop system operates normally until restart phase, then engine fails to restart. First occurrence may 2025. Problem occurs intermittently.
Stopped at red light. Auto start/stop engaged. Light turned green let off of brake and pressed gas. Engine did not start. Couple seconds later engine started.
My computer screen that has my radio and backup camera will black out randomly while I’m driving. There are times I can’t use it for a backup camera because it won’t cut on. I’m not able to control my heat and a/c when it goes blank too.
Power tailgate problem is going off repeatedly while car is on. Power tailgate does not open with remote or button inside car. There seems to be water leaking in tailgate seams. The constant beeping of problem popping up is startling and distracting to driver.

In January 2025, we drove to florida from michigan. When I started my car every signal light came on. It would not allow me to shut down. We drove it to orlando Honda and they said the sensor light was covered with road salt. It was very scary. In November 2025 we were driving home in a snowstorm. The sensor in the front got covered and shut down the speed control, warning lights of crossing lane, detecting cars on right or left. I get told every time can’t duplicate. The automatic bright lights got stuck on after only a month of having this car. Dealership says it was off. Well it wasn’t and they still do not work. Speed limit sign on dashboard will go up to 85 miles per hour this is in a 25 mile area. Again they say can’t duplicate. Brakes feel mushy to myself and husband. Again we’re told there is nothing wrong with it. When the speed controls are set there is at least 2 miles difference with my waze speed and the vehicles speed. I’m told this is normal. Well it’s not. Something is wrong with the electrical system. I owned a Honda Odyssey before and I never had any issues with that one. We’re getting ready to drive to florida and I’m terrified the system will shut down again. I was told that having road salt on a sensor is not a warranty issue. Well, it is because of poor design. I’m also afraid once this vehicle is no longer under warranty I will be paying $ for this poor design. I’m not happy and now wish I had my old one back.
With vehicle auto start/stop feature enabled, vehicle just shuts off when attempting to start back up after shutting off at a stop light. It has happened multiple times and recently it even happened with the auto start/stop feature turned off. Took it to the dealership and they tested everything to include the battery and they weren’t able to duplicate it. A review of forums showed other people with the same issue and it is pointing to a faulty starter, but no recall has been issued yet.
While operating the vehicle, I have experienced repeated problems with the idle stop/start system. Specifically: 1-the engine automatically shuts off at stop signs and stop lights as designed, but at times the vehicle fails to restart immediately when the brake is released or the acceleration is pressed. 2-multiple occasion while stopped in traffic the vehicle unexpectantly shifted into "park. " 3-for the last 3 weeks the vehicle sometimes hesitates to start on first attempt.
The idle stop feature failed to restart the engine when I released the brake after having stopped at a traffic light. Eventually restarted after more than a minute of manually pressing the ignition button.
On October 31, 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealer for several issues, including an auto engine idle stop system problem, a memory seat malfunction, and other concerns that were discussed with the service advisor and are listed in the invoice. I was charged almost $1,000, including a new battery. Initially, some of the problems appeared to be resolved, but shortly after the service, the auto engine idle stop system problem reappeared, and the memory seat stopped working again. Even more concerning, a new and dangerous issue began immediately after the repair: while driving at night, the headlights suddenly turn off for a few seconds and then turn back on, and the “auto engine idle stop system problem” warning appears at the same time. This issue never occurred before the dealer performed the repair. This situation is extremely unsafe, especially when driving in dark conditions with my family. I contacted the dealership through their “contact us” form on November 2, 2025, and again via live chat on November 5, 2025. I was told that someone would reach out to me, but as of November 9, 2025, I have received no response.

The idle start stop feature constantly doesn’t work on our 2022 Honda Odyssey touring. When stopped at a light or stop sign the engine will turn off completely, causing me to have to put the car in park and restart the car. Also, sometimes the van will start, sometimes it won't. I replaced the battery and now it starts but it is still turning itself off in traffic. There have been several incidents where this is during rush hour traffic causing traffic jams and we have been very close to being rear ended. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes before it will actually turn over. This is extremely unsafe and should be addressed by Honda with a free fix for all owners. I've taken it to the dealership and, after scanning my VIN, told that my specific Odyssey doesn't have any open recalls or service bulletins. . . Seems every other Odyssey does, just not mine? for the exact same problem???.
The idle stop system is malfunctioning. I had it inspected once previously and now trying to get it inspected again for the same occurring issue. The dealership continues to tell me to turn off the idle stop feature on the vehicle. My safety was put at risk because of the vehicle stalling and not kicking back on while being stopped at a redlight on a busy 4 lane highway multiple times now. The first time, I was by myself. The second time, my 8-month-old was in the vehicle with me. This causes a lot of panic as there are impatient drivers around me since I am unable to move my vehicle. I fear that this could happen on a freeway if there was construction, an accident or even while trying to turn in an intersection and getting hit because I can’t move my vehicle and often have my two small children with me. The first time the idle stop stalled, it occurred twice in a week. The first time was rather quick, and the engine kicked over quickly so I did not think anything more of it. The second time which happened a few days later (9/17/25), took about 5 minutes to get the engine going again and moving on the road (4 lane highway). I took it back to my local Honda dealership where they performed a diagnostic test and discovered the battery had dipped down to 7. 22v when trying to restart, the battery failed the battery test and ended up being replaced with a new battery. The idle stop issue has now happened for a third time (10/21/25), with the same issues occurring and I am waiting to be able to get back into Honda. The vehicle has only been looked at by my local Honda dealership. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other notifications prior to the failure. I received a warning on the dashboard after the events occurred on how to start the vehicle. This is very disappointing as a new Honda owner. My husband and I decided on Honda over other car companies due to their reliability and this has now become a constant worry.
I am the original owner of this vehicle and have performed all regular maintenance on schedule. It is our primary family vehicle and now over 120,000 miles. Since purchasing it new in 2018, the fuse for the horn has blown out several times each year. Most recently, the horn has stopped working, but the fuse remains intact. I am at a loss as to how to repair without taking apart the steering wheel which could damage the airbag. This is a serious safety issue as the horn is necessary to avoid accidents. I have spoken to the service department at my dealer and they are unaware of any recalls affecting the horn.
I am having issues with my auto start/stop, also, occasionally has issues starting from a cold start! I was at a red traffic light, and once the light turned green I went to go and my car died. I had to put it in park and try and restart it and it took me three times for it to restart. Everybody was honking at me. This is a safety issue.
Since July 4, 2025, this can has intermittently shut off and stalled on me, my wife and my family and has refused to start. It has now been back to the service department of trust Honda of palmdale 4 different times for the same problem and the battery has been replaced on this van back in July. Most recently, it stalled just two days ago in rush hour morning traffic on the 405 freeway going south in the san fernando valley. The display on the dash read “dead battery “. It took over 20 minutes for the van to start and my wife was able to move it off of the freeway to a safe location.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral as indicated by the gear shift indicator light. The contact was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted, and the vehicle was unable to shift into drive. The adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation system, road departure system, and transmission fault detected messages were displayed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission control unit. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v299000 (power train, electrical system), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 133,000.
The vehicle intermittently fails to restart after the auto start/stop stopped the engine. This happened several times when stopped at a traffic signal, nearly causing an accident when cars behind expected to move after the traffic signal turned green. There were no warnings or indications prior to the failure to start. Multiple attempts to restart the vehicle failed until at least a minute or so had elapsed. The vehicle has also intermittently failed to start after being parked for a few minutes after being driven for 20 minutes or so. The starter has generally sounded weak when starting, and when it fails to start it sounds like the engine tries to start turning for a fraction of a second before it stops trying to crank the engine. It almost seems like the start duration is too short or the ecu thinks the engine has successfully started when it hasn't. I brought the vehicle into the dealership to have this checked, and they replaced the battery saying it was bad. However, the failures to start continued to happen shortly after. I returned the vehicle to the dealership to be checked again. They have not yet identified anything that could be causing the issue. They claim the battery and starter test good. Based on similar complaints, it seems that this is an issue with many of these vehicles. Honda needs to identify the root cause of this failure to start issue.
The media touch screen display periodically goes blank and reboots during driving, which affects the backup camera, defrost control, and every other component controlled on the touchscreen display.
The start stop system has failed to restart at a busy traffic light more than half a dozen different times after a 1 hour drive. Short drives do not bring this issue out. This got me stuck at a light, drivers annoyed honking and confused as I try to get my vehicle to start again. Turning the van completely off and back on again seems to get the van to restart again. I tried bring the issue up to the dealer when I brought it in for its first service, but the employee was extremely rude/belligerent and stated they would only do an oil change when I asked for help with this safety issue among other things. Will take to another dealer next service interval and try again. No issues known or warning lights on the vehicle prior. The van when it did this, error'd stating failure to restart or something along those lines. It happened so fast I don't 100% recall. After the issue the van would have no issues or lights on at all to even think anything had went wrong in the first place. This is a 2024, purchased new, vehicle.
Failed monocular camera : it is a very common issue across majority of Honda Odyssey. It's the overheating of the camera and start to malfunction, causing all the warning systems lights to illuminate. A lots of people and families who have owned or currently owns Honda Odysseys minivans have either faced this problem in the past or having it more commonly now. Due to the malfunction caused by the failed monocular camera, it tends to automatically disables the lane assist function, engine light comes on, cruise control get disabled and two other warning comes on the dash. Please note that there are a lots of families who own these Honda Odyssey have been facing this manufacturing fault that Honda needs to address.
Honda Odyssey idle stop system failure vehicle: 2020 Honda Odyssey (elite) incident description: while driving, the vehicle's "idle stop" system engaged as I came to a complete stop at [e. G. , a traffic light, intersection, stop sign]. The engine shut off as designed, but failed to restart automatically when I released the brake pedal. This left my vehicle stalled and disabled in the middle of [e. G. , an intersection, a lane of traffic] with no forward power. I was scared as there were lots of cars behind me in the intersection. This has happened over a dozen times. Safety risk: this failure created an immediate and dangerous safety hazard. My vehicle was a risk for being rear-ended by traffic from behind, and my family was stranded in a vulnerable position. The vehicle was unable to move out of harm's way, and I had to put the vehicle in park and manually restart the engine. This is unacceptable for a system designed to work seamlessly and automatically. Additional information: this is not an isolated incident. The auto start-stop failure has occurred multiple times since March 2025. The system failure has put me and my passengers in a position of significant risk multiple times. Failed component: the vehicle's "auto idle stop" (ais) system, which failed to restart the engine after it was automatically shut off. Resolution: an immediate and permanent recall is necessary to address this dangerous defect. Existing service bulletins have not corrected the problem. I urge the NHTSA to require Honda to provide an effective, long-term solution to ensure the safety of Odyssey owners.

The auto stop/start or auto idles feature on the car keeps stalling after the car stops at the red light. It can cause a rear collision.
The issue involves the auto start/stop system on my 2025 Honda Odyssey touring. When the feature is turned on, the vehicle intermittently fails to restart after coming to a complete stop. The problem does not occur when the start/stop system is disabled. During normal driving, the engine shuts off as expected at a stoplight, but when I release the brake, the vehicle hesitates or fails to crank, leaving it stalled in traffic. The Honda dealership confirmed the issue and stated that the starter motor needs to be replaced. The van has approximately 9,300 miles. No warning lights or messages appear before the failure. The problem occurs only when the start/stop system is active. This presents a safety concern, as the vehicle can lose power and fail to move when traffic lights change or when merging, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision or blocking intersections. The vehicle is currently being inspected and repaired by the Honda dealer and is available for inspection upon request.
Something is wrong with the camera and causing all warnings to go off.
Mass safety system failure due to front projector camera/ wiring harness. Noted systems below failed: adaptive cruise control auto emergency braking forward collision warning lane departure warning lane keeping assistance auto high beams all above system are not operational.
On multiple occasions, the idle-stop function engaged at a red light and then either the entire car shut down or the computer froze for a minute or two then restarted. For each incident, we had cars behind us that either nearly hit us when we did not go forward when the light turned green or nearly hit us by aggressively going around us while we restarted the engine.
Read driver side power sliding door, got stuck halfway open. I've had this happen on the passenger side as well, but after turning the car off, putting power doors to manual, and rocking it back and forth, I got it fixed no problem and ended up having to replace a bump sensor on the door and it resolved. I thought that's what was going on when it happened to my driver side door as well. However after I turned the car off, and turned the doors to manual it still wouldn't close. I turned them back to automatic, turned the car back on, and the door proceeded to start going back, it rocked violently then broke the rear window and before stopping again. I read this track roller has been a problem for many users of this van and in some cases the entire door has fallen off because of it.
Vehicle stalled on a highway after an idle stop event at a stop light. Vehicle went to park. Required a full restart by operator to go when light changed and traffic was flowing in other lanes. Dealership examined next day and indicated battery was good. Voltage dropping to 8v to 10v when starting. Recommended to disable idle stop each time vehicle is started. A new starter was authorized and placed on order.
