1 Engine Noise problem of the 2019 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 11/11/2019

On November 11, 2019, I sent my Honda Odyssey to a Honda dealer for maintenance. Everything went normally. After the maintenance, I drove my car back home. Every day, I go to work and work normally. About 10 days after the maintenance, the engine light suddenly turns on. After the car was turned on, the engine lights returned to normal. Every day when I went to work, I found that there was a pool at the bottom of the front of the car. I wonder if it was water or oil? I didn't care too much just after finishing the maintenance. In the state of the car, I drove it for another week. At the end, the engine light made a sound and I checked that my engine oil was almost gone. It's hard to believe. The engine oil that I just finished maintenance was gone within 20 days. This is too scary. The engine ran out of oil. I had driven for so many days. It's just killing. I returned the car to a Honda dealer for inspection, but just helped me fill up the engine oil without any explanation. This way I can't accept it. Please help me defend my rights. What causes the loss of engine oil? find out later I'm afraid I'll die. At present, the right rear tire of the car shows that the air pressure is not enough. I checked that the tires are not piercing, and I also performed a lot of air refills, which did not work. It should show that the air pressure is insufficient. Thank you for auditing my issue to help me complete my rights. Now I think that the engine is scared without oil.

3 Engine Noise problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/06/2019

Driving very slowly uphill in a hospital parking deck, the principal driver of the car turned into an available parking slot applying some gas, from 25-30 feet away, only to have the vehicle accelerate uncontrollably, even with the driver's right foot fully engaged with the brake pedal. The van jumped over parking blocks at the end of the space and struck a concrete post, whereupon the engine compartment crumpled and the airbags engaged. The van bounced back approximately twenty feet. Witnesses attracted by the sound of squealing tires, revving engine noise (before impact) and the subsequent crash itself came to render assistance and call police. The driver's right's foot was severely bruised by the crash impact and her sternum fractured. The vehicle was a declared total loss.

4 Engine Noise problem of the 2010 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Configured with 1 chair behind driver and all other rear seats removed or folded down. Payload consisted of myself (driver), spouse, 4 great dane dogs (550 lbs. ), dog food and groceries. No cellphones accessible or in use and all vehicular entertainment functions switched off. About 4:00 pm Thursday March 1, 2018 weather clear, dry and air temperature in the low 70s exited costco (ih10w) parking lot, proceeded over ih10w on bridge toward the intersection with vance-jackson rd. At approx. 35 mph. Encountered line of stopped vehicles backed up from the traffic light. Usual and normal force on the brake pedal did not produce the expected slowing. Employing maximum panic force on brake pedal finally brought the vehicle to a stop short of collision. Immediately shifted into park where upon the unloaded engine raced to high rpm. Switched ignition to off without removing key. Did not observe tachometer during the foregoing excitement but engine sound was loud and high pitched. Checked floor area for objects or obstruction and found it clear. Drivers left foot being firmly planted on the floor, only the right foot had access to brake or accelerator. Restarted engine and proceeded home normally but with great trepidation and caution. Subsequent experiment in a safe area revealed that the engine can indeed be shut down, while in motion, from any transmission selection without going to park although with consequent loss of power assisted braking and steering. This knowledge does provide some guidance for any future run-away episodes. My spouse will be strongly discouraged from driving this vehicle in the future. Perhaps unrelated to this incident (excepting the possible commonality of engine management computer), this van has twice experienced battery depletion due to parasitic drain when parked overnight.

5 Engine Noise problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/08/2015

When we were traveling out west, we started to notice a distinct "whine" in the engine compartment. After returning home and having driven thousands of miles, we took the car to the dealer and discovered that the rear motor mount had broken and was causing the fan to make a noise when the engine itself "heaved" upon accelerating. It cost $1100 for the repair. I am filing this complaint because there are several similar complaints on here, and there probably should be a recall before someone gets seriously injured.

6 Engine Noise problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

The engine was making pinging sounds like lifers were bad, but computer didn't show anything wrong and no engine lights came on, took to Honda dealer they said bearings bad and needed new engine. Why would that happen when engine oil was maintained and changed . Never over heated etc.

7 Engine Noise problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/12/2014

5/6/14 took my vehicle into the local service station for diagnosis of clunking engine noise. Had to pay $1400 to replace both motor mounts that were completely worn out . Also has to replace the outer tie rods that were worn out creating a completely unsafe vehicle. Less than a week later, the d light went black. Suddenly it came back on along with the check engine light. Took vehicle back to the service station and they now diagnosed it with the p0740 code tcc lockup solenoid. Called several transmission shops that told me the only way to fix this is to get a new transmission at a cost of $3500 and up. This is very discerning that the transmission didn't last longer and this is a known problem with this model vehicle and Honda refuses to issue the recall on all 2004 transmissions. There are service bulletins out there referring to this specific issue. I called american Honda and they refused to assist stating the vehicle is way out of warranty to assist financially. I have had all the service done at the dealer until there was an issue last year with the heating/air conditioner that the dealer was unable to successfully fix after 6 visits and numerous coolant flushes. I have no faith in that local dealership to help. Now I'm stuck with a money pit and can't afford to replace it. Never again Honda. They have certainly lost my loyalty after all this. We dealt with the same issue with the 2003 Acura tls transmissions that were bad, 3 transmissions later and no help from Honda who knowingly covered up their faulty transmission problems and left consumers footing the bill.

8 Engine Noise problem of the 2012 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Judder and vibrates and makes buzzing sound constantly but intermittently. Dealer and Honda state this is in relation to the eco feature. Research by me indicates either torque converter and/or rear motor mount needs replacing. It seems the issue is worsening as I was told by my Honda service tech that it will get worse the more miles driven. Presently has 40k miles and still under warranty. Car lost power on open highway and was able to drive it to Honda service. . . (unrelated) to vibration issue. Did a computer update and that took care of power issue.

9 Engine Noise problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/11/2014

When maneuvering in low mileage areas, I. E. Driveways, parking lots, my power steering pump does not assist well, if at all. The vehicle makes a noise similar to an rc car with a dying battery and the steering wheel is almost impossible for me to move. In order to get out of a parking space, it can take me up to 10 or so moves because I cannot get the wheel to turn properly.

10 Engine Noise problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/02/2013

Engine mount problems. I beseach you all, please help us! purchased this car 8 months ago from Honda dealership. Was convinced to buy warranty. First week it began to make noise after purchase, drove in and they said they couldn't tell me what was wrong at the time without any indicator light on and to come back. Light came on was engine mounts broken OH and catalytic converter. I thought, good thing I purchased the 3,000 dollar warranty they assured me would cover major things of cost. Guess what, no coverage-just these 2 repairs alone will be over 1500 not to mention when the other 2 mounts break fully. I have read 100 s of people online reporting this exact problem on the Honda Odysseys. This is the same as robbing the poor. Why tell me buying warranty will cover expensive engine stuff but claim 800+ is not too much? even the mechanics near and far, (I called them), along with many others online suffering my same dilemma said this engine mount is super common for the Odysseys to break. Its so hard to afford a car anymore, but people are working so hard to save and others to fix their credit just to barely afford a used one,but to purchase a 3000$ warranty that is useless in this very expensive case ( 800) just for 2 of the mounts and right away. I babied the car. Now I have to use grocery money that feeds my family to try and pay for this obvious flaw that Honda already knew and knows about. Please, I beg you to read online. One simple google will show I am not alone in this engine mount struggle with Honda. Please don't let what could be a great car company make this terrible choice repeatedly when even their mechanics know it is a constant problem and wrong. I can't afford to make these fixes right now and if I dont get the loan, since I just maxed out purchasing the warranty. . . . I lose my engine on the road with my children in the car ! god forbid.

We bought this vehicle with my aunt[xxx] for our family, we were breaking it in around 400 plus miles and we notice there is a vibration when the vcm or variable cylinder management turns on. To whom it may concern, sept 27 2012 me and my aunt just bought a bought brand new 2012 Honda Odyssey ex sept 21,2012 with only 33 miles on it, we notice a vibration in the engine so I took it to norm reeves Honda 1 888 637 7262 on sept 27, 2012 with 622 miles on it and spoke to [xxx] service advisor I told them that there is a vibrations in the engine, wind noise, alignment problem and the rear sliding door not being pushed. He send a guy to meet me which he's name is[xxx] a service diagnostics who come with me for a test drive, so we went and he notices the vibration, wind noise and the sliding rear door not being plush and the alignment. [xxx] told me that they will hook up the computer system of Honda to see the problem with the vibrations we head back to the dealer and he told the service advisor about it. So I left Odyssey with them the whole day, I got a call from [xxx] around 4:30 ish and told me they fixed the rear door striker, the rear sliding door the fixed also, alignment is now straight and the top part of the door is plushed but the lower door is not plushed any more, they fixed the alignment, they said the wind noise is normal, regarding the vibration, they told me that they drove the new one and they drive the same. They is a big problem here and they just not saying. Pls help us out information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

13 Engine Noise problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/17/2012

Front motor mount is torn and recommend replacing for $951. 28 + tax; side motor mount is leaking and recommend replacing for $238. 88 + tax. This van is used mainly for driving my kids to school and activities. No heavy towing nor hard driving. I was told that it's a common problem with Honda Odyssey, but at this time Honda corporation has not addressed it. My van really makes noise and rattles when accelerating and I'm concerned that it is a safety issue if the engine is not secured properly.
