Front Air Bag Problems of Hyundai Accent

2001 Hyundai Accent. Consumer states airbags deployed without being involved in an accident destroying the windshield and seizing the seat belts the consumer stated after two months of phone calls, Hyundai finally responded and claimed the system detected an impact and no assistance would be provided and the matter was closed.

The contact owns a 2005 Hyundai Accent. The contact placed an item under the driver seat and unintentionally disconnected the air bag wire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer reconnected the air bag wires. The manufacturer advised the contact that she should not place any items under the drivers seat and would not reimburse her for the repair costs. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 61,708.

My family was driving our 2001 Hyundai Accent in which another vehicle collided with ours except the dash board air bags didn't inflate. Afterwards within two weeks I stopped at the nearest dealership and asked who should I inquire why the air bags didn't work. The vehicle was totaled and I did send an email to the address the dealership provided but have heard nothing. My wife and daughter got banged up but are okay now. My concern is that it could of been much serious and why I haven't heard anything from Hyundai. The accident occurred on October 20, 2009 in el centro, California. Thank you.

I got into a collision in las vegas, nevada. I was driving my 2008 Hyundai Accent, I got hit head on and none of the airbags deployed. I was turning and going approximately 5 mph the person who hit me was going 35 to 40 mph. The speed limit on that particular street is 45 mph. My car is a total loss and luckily no one got hurt.

Front crash . . No airbags deployed and side impact crash . . . No airbags deployed two separate crashes with significant damages to vehicle but no airbag deployment .

I was driving 45 mph, drifted slightly on a curve, corrected left went right instead on a sandy decline braked and flipped twice. Neither of the two airbags went off. The car is total loss.

Was in a car crash where the front end of my vehicle struck the drivers side of another vehicle. Was travling at aproximately 35mph. No airbag deploy. Filed a claim with Hyundai and was told the airbags were not supposed to deploy. Then sold the car to a friend of mine. She then repaired the vehicle and aproximately 6 weeks ago, she was t-boned in the same vehicle. The jaws of life were needed to get her out of the vehicle. No airbag deploy.

While traveling on highway and without prior warning another vehicle made a sudden stop in front of consumer's vehicle, and dual airbags didn't deploy.

Was driving 40mph and hit a large puddle of water in the road vehicle slid and did 360 degree turn. Hit a light pole, off center and then a fence. Upon impact, neither air bag deployed. Driver/ front and rear passengers suffered injuries. Had emergency room treatment.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at 20-25 mph, and neither airbag deployed. Consumer suffered neck and back injuries. Vehicle at dealership at this time.

While driving at 35 mph on October 7, 2003 the vehicle was involved in a front end collision with another vehicle. The occupant of consumer's vehicle was wearing a seat belt but none of the air bags deployed. The consumer's child was severely injured but the occupant of the other vehicle was not injured.

Consumer was traveling about 55mph on highway and noticed that steering wheel started shaking. Consumer lost control of vehicle, and it started to roll twice or more into an enbankment. Vehicle was turned upside down. Consumer was able to crawl outside of vehicle. Upon impact, airbags did deploy. Vehicle was totaled. Dealership was aware of problem.

While traveling at 62 mph another car in front had hazard lights on. Consumer tried to go around, there was snow on ground/not on road, but on side of road, consumer lost control and hit a guardrail, and two other guardrails on other side of road. None of airbags deployed. Consumer hit guardrail head on.

While sitting at a stop light consumer was rearended and pushed into vehicle in front. Upon impact, both airbags exploded. Consumer was burned by chemicals in airbags.

Vehicle was invoved in an accident concerning a head-on collision with a tracker trailer . Both air bags deployed. Consumer was temporarily unconscious. Revised and noticde small gas burn from air bag. Dealer notified.

While traveling 30mph had a front end collision with another vehicle. Upon impact, neither air bags deployed. Driver suffered upper body, head & knee injuries. Passenger suffered knee & elbow injuries. Had emergency room treatment & released.

Upon hitting apothole, both air bags deployed, breaking passenger's right hand, as well as hitting driver on left arm and burnin ghis shirt.

Violent deployment driver's air bag , caused driver to crash into curve and then a tree. The hat gases eminating from the air bag burned driver's arms and front of her blouse. Also the window on the driver's side broke; and the windshield on the passenger's side also cracked.

No deployment of driver's and pasenger's air bags during a head-on collision at about 45 mph.

Consumer drove over normal steel plate hat was left in middle of intersection, and driver's airbag deployed without a collision.
