Air Bag Light On Problems of Hyundai Accent - part 1

Last week my airbag red light came on out of no where, no accident led to this. This car has been maintained and any repairs done in a timely fashion I called Hyundai headquarters and spoke to a supervisor. She went on and on about everything but what I was calling about. She then devulged some interesting issues regarding my vehicle. First she said there was a recall. On my vehicle. I believe she said 944, which she said was a rust issue recall on the undercarrige. She then went on to say the passenger side safety was an issue and complaints from other Accent owners of airbag light she then said OH I bet thats why you airbag light is on . She did also spkeak of my car having some sort of extended factory warranty. , calling it either a txx or possibly pxx whatever that means. I have been doing a lot of research on this only to find out there are many Hyundai Accents that have had airbag irepaired for free. I was not told that mine would also be fixed free of charge. Due to my persistence they expediated my complaint to a case manager whom I should hear from in a couple of days. My case number is 18924458. Why has there not been a recall on this? it obviously is a manufacturers defect and has occurred in many Accents. What should I do until I hear from case manager? what happens if I disagree with the case workers decision? I do have receipts for close to $ 2,000 worth of routine maintence and repairs which I will upload to you depending on the findings of the case manager.

Yesterday, on March 26, 2021 during road trip an airbag light came on without no reason and it still stays on. On March 27, 2021 I called my dealer to get help. I was trying to ask them to waive inspection fee because it is safety concern, but they said "no". My car is 6 years old, 66,000 mileage. I am first owner and this car was never involved in any crash. Because of present covid19 crisis I have not enough money to pay upfront for special inspections. I hope that I will get help in your department.

I bought it used with 63,000 miles around 11/8/20, everything was going good, and one day I noticed the airbag light was on. Over a the next couple of days, the light would stay on & if I turned my car off and on again, it would turn off but come back on a couple minutes later. I looked it up, and it talked about a possible issue with the airbag system or the airbag sensor. I also noticed that a lot of people had the airbag light issue with their Hyundai vehicles, mostly the Accent models.

08 Accent GS, airbag light on without any accident or unusual driving. Its a safety issue. Hyundai should have recalled this issue since many customers have the same problem.

The airbag light will not shut off, shop cannot pass inspection with the airbag light is on and can cost up to $1000 to replace since it's wired into the seat. This 100% should be recalled since there are dozens of others who have experienced this system issue.

Occupant classification system defect. My car was only 2,000 miles out of warranty and Hyundai will not cover this defect. Right passenger seat air bag sensor mat is faulty causing the air bag light to come on. I've done my research online and this is pretty common. It should be a recall and I shouldn't be having to spend $1,400 to get it fixed.

For the last two years the air bag sensor keeps coming on. Most recent is the last few days. It's staying on, not gone off. Second time it came on, early 2019, I took to dealer. That day it had gone off but they said they ran a diagnostic and nothing was wrong. Yet again it's on since July 7th. Every time when started the vehicle, lights on dash came on but airbag light never goes off. I've been driving around with it on for 3 days. .

My airbag light came on 3 days ago and hasn't turned back off. Today I tested my seatbelts and they don't lock like they're supposed to "upon impact". I called my local hyindai dealership who informed me that there is no safety recall available to remedy this safety issue.

Airbag light came on and stays on. Was informed by multiple mechanics in the area that is a known safety and system malfunction issue with the 2008 Hyundai Accent hatchback models and not sure way a recall has not been issued.

When the car is started, the air bag light turns on and won't turn off. Restarted several times since and the air bag light still stays on. Another issue that I never reported is both driver and passenger sun visors won't stay up. I replaced the driver side, but this is very distracting to a driver to have the visor drop downand feel this should be considered a safety concern. The rest of the information is about the air bag light being on, not the visors.

After hitting 80,000 miles out airbag light is turned on we haven't been in a car accident and it doesn't stay on constantly.

The airbag light for passenger side is on and won't go out. There are a lot of complaints about this on the internet.

On Sunday, November 10th, 2019 the airbag light came on while I was driving with my wife in the passenger seat. It has stayed on while driving, except for a short time, on November 14th.

Airbag light comes on and off at random, regardless of whether there is a passenger in the seat or not. Car was taken to a Hyundai dealership, and they discovered a seat cushion with a sensor was malfunctioning. This would cost close to a $1000. 00 to fix. This is a safety issue, thus, this should be a recall. Do not wait until enough people and children have died from this. Most of us do not have $1000. 00 to dish out for a fancy seat cushion. I see from many complaints that this is a big problem. Please take this seriously and put out a recall for those of us that are too broke to fix a safety malfunction that came with the car.

At first in the beginning my car does it once in a blue moon; however now everyday for the past two months my car would power down while being at a red light, stop sign, or in motion. When it powers down the engine and battery lights comes on. I would have to put the car in park and restart my car. It normally does it twice everyday. This is a safety hazard for myself and my baby. I'm scared that a car would come up behind and hit me while my baby is in the car. I fear our lives. When I took it to autozone for them to check and see why my check engine light was on the code was always catalytic converter. I went to go get that fix and my car is still having the same problem. Also, when my car is in motion the rpm doesn't move it stays at 0. Also, the sensor for the passenger air bag isn't working. When somebody is sitting on the passenger side the airbag light is off, but when somebody isn't sitting there the airbag light is on. I haven't been in any accidents.

Whenever I start driving the driver side airbag light turns on and won't turn off until I turn the car off and then back on and it still turns back on when I start moving.

Takata recall: air bag light stays on and car cannot be inspected. Also check engine light stays on. Removed passenger and driver seats to check sensors/wires but did not solve the problem.

Passenger airbag light for the past few weeks randomly turns on and off reading that there is no passenger with someone in the passenger seat. And will come on even with no passenger.

Air bag light came on and won't shut off. Came on in morning just starting the car and has not turned off. I have unhooked battery and checked fuses but still on.

I'm having issues with the airbag light. . . Keeps coming on staying on when cold below 39 degrees. . One time last week came on at 54 degrees doing research the VIN is not on recall list but similar make model versions are over 2,500 recalls I was driving to the bank when this occurred about 8pm.

Airbag light is always on and passenger can get in and not buckle and light and sound never appear when car is parked or in motion (on highway or city streets), and now the doors won't lock or unlock with the key fob or manually.

My 2012 Hyundai Accent just passed 100,000 miles and the passenger airbag light came on. I have had this same issue with a 2006 Hyundai and I understand this is a longstanding issue with multiple models and years. The fix can be very invasive and expensive and only some are covered by recall. Checking the VIN number, my Hyundai is not currently covered by a recall, but I believe it should be as this is a continuing issue.

My airbag light keeps coming on, only in cold weather.

My red airbag light has turned on and I'm being told that I need to get a sensor replaced that costs $300-$400. I take good care of it and have done nothing for this to happen. It seems like a manufacturing error that Hyundai has after looking online.

Passenger seat indicator light.

Airbag light came on. Got it diagnosied and appeared code b1490 (occupent classification).

The car has less than 90,000 miles, yet the air bag light came on. A mechanic diagnosed the error as b1448 OCS. The mechanic said the problem could be the weight sensor in the passenger seat, the wiring harness underneath the seat, or the control module.

The airbag light has come on, December 13, 2017 as I was driving.

Airbag light is on. Hyundai issued an extended warranty for the occupant classification system. The dealer will not determine the cause of the issue without a diagnostic fee. This is a safety issue and should be a recall so the dealer will inspect and assist.
