6 Warning Light On problem of the 2015 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 07/25/2018

Airbag warning on dash randomly activates. Vehicle was taken in for engine failure(seized crankshaft) and was repaired under warranty. Told dealership about air bag issue at this time. I was told that there was a recall on this vehicle for a computer update that I was never informed about. I got my vehicle back engine runs fine but airbag warning light has come back on again after 5 days. I am notifying dealership of issue tomorrow (7/26/18).

7 Warning Light On problem of the 2016 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 01/05/2018

Air bag - passenger side air bag light is illuminated and will not turn off when the vehicle is started and while driving. ( issue has been ongoing for the past 6 months and dealer wants to charge for diagnostic- car is 2years old!). Electrical- warning lights and radio turn on and off randomly while driving) other- often the car won't start (2-3 times/week) and have to get a jump. Battery is new, starter is good. Possibly issue with amps? (auto zone diagnostic did not show issue or codes). There are no recalls on this year ,make and model (2016 Hyundai Accent). There has been issues and recall with the 2015 make and model of the same with the air bag light coming on and staying on. Believe it was thought to be due to computer issue that affected kia as well. ( this must be a safety issue if the air bag (passenger) stays illuminated and shows the air bag to be off (wwith or without an adult passenger. Hyundai refuses to investigate saying lack of complaints and must be issue with just my vehicle. Warranty- does not cover as the mileage on my vehicle is over the allowance for the warranty.

8 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 02/03/2017

Started out to go to work, when I started the car, I noticed the "airbag" warning light on dash would not go off with the rest of the usual lighting. At the same time I noticed the "passenger" airbag light was "on". I pushed on the cushion of the front seat and the "passenger" dash light now read "off". However, the "airbag" warning light on the instrument cluster remained on. Turned the car back off and after a few minutes, started the car again. Airbag light remained lit and the "passenger" light on dash was reading "off". Disconnecting the battery cable for a few minutes did not solve, clear codes, either. Gls model with 143,800 miles.

9 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

On the lower portion of the tachometer, there is a warning light: air bags. This light is on continuously, whenever the car is turned on. My daughter reports it has been on for "quite some time". I called the closest Hyundai dealership service department, and was told that probably means all of the air bags are disabled. A dangerous situation. Further, they could diagnose the situation for one hour of shop time, or $110. That's not repair, only a scope test. I told dealer the car only has used 77k miles on its 100k warranty, and was told since were are not original purchasers, there is no warranty on malfunctioning air bags, or warning light sensors. I told dealer there was a recent alert and recall regarding air bag malfunctions on kia vehicles (a Hyundai product) of which this vehicle has the identical engine and interior as the 2009 kia rio, and the dealer said they have heard nothing regarding our vehicle or this specific problem.

14 Warning Light On problem of the 2014 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 06/24/2015

I bought my car in Feb 2014, since that the electronic stability control (esc) indicator has come on several times while driving. When the esc is on, the other indicators air bag warning light, abs, parking brake & brake fluid warning light, low tire pressure telltale and electronic power steering (eps) indicator will also take turns to come on for a while and then off for a few seconds then back on again. After I restart, esc light will stay on and the other lights take turns to on and off. This will last several days and then back to normal. The worst thing happened on June, 2015, after the lights have been on and off the day before, the electronic power steering was lost when I started my car. Air bag warning light, abs, parking brake & brake fluid warning light and eps were all on. I was totally in shock by what had happened since I basically could not back out from the parking lot with the stiff steering. I restarted several times and could not work out. When I finally got to dealer, the technician turned on the car, everything was normal. They tried to get a code for me but no code showed any malfunction. Since then, I was driving in afraid that this may happen again at any time and I may lose control and cause an accident.

16 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 01/22/2015

The driver side airbag off light came on and stays while the car is on. The passenger side airbag off warning light has been faulty for several years now- it sometimes turns on when there is an adult passenger sitting properly in the passenger seat with a seatbelt on. This is intermittent; however it happens fairly often for the past several years when there is a passenger sitting there. A few days ago, the driver side airbag warning light illuminated. I took it for servicing at hooman Hyundai near lax and they told me that the driver side light has to do with the passenger side airbag sensor and this would cost over $1000 to replace.

17 Warning Light On problem of the 2006 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 12/08/2014

I noticed that my air bag warning light came on and stayed illuminated. I brought it to the dealer and was told that the passenger lower cushion sensor assembly needed to be replaced (for approx. $1,000). Was told that none of the airbags would would work in a collision until it was replaced. Since I can't afford to replace it now, I have no airbags. (I also own a 2002 Honda civic and Honda just recently replaced both front airbags in a recall. ) make sure that if you choose to buy a used Hyundai you're in a position to spend an extra $1000 if you want your airbags to work. You might want to have the dealer do a code check to be sure that the air bags are working. Then again, it could be fine today and a b1448 code tomorrow. It's sad that the government requires auto makers to install airbags, but they don't require that they work. Facing a $1000 air bag repair, I do not recommend buying a new or used Hyundai.

18 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 11/13/2014

The air bag warning light activated and stayed lit. Hyundai service advised there would be a diagnostic fee merely to test where the problem might be. Repair could cost, according to past experience of the service manager,in the neighborhood of $1,400. It is my understanding that the vehicle will not pass inspection with a lit air bag warning light. I took the vehicle to another mechanic who had access to a scanning computer. The code read: "b1448 OCS (occupant classification system) (mat failure). " the warning light was reset. A review of filed complaints discloses several other instances of this occurring: date of incident: 05/16/2014 NHTSA id number: 10592409 date of incident: 12/12/2013 NHTSA id number: 10556375 date of incident: 04/29/2013 NHTSA id number: 10509961.

19 Warning Light On problem of the 2006 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

The air bag warning light went on. Mechanic had to replace the driver's side seat belt sensor to correct the problem. As this air bag sensor is being investigated in the Hyundai sonata models, I think there may be a problem with other models this company offers, especially if they are using the same seat belt assembly in all models. Very expensive repair for a problem I have never seen in many years of driving.

23 Warning Light On problem of the 2009 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 04/29/2013

I took my vehicle for virginia safety inspection and it failed due to the air bag warning light stays on, which I thought was normal to let me know it was working, but apparently not. It has been on since I bought the car from carmax. I have researched a little and there seems to quite a few problems with this issue and Hyundai. This is the second safety issue, the brake light recall being the first.

25 Warning Light On problem of the 2006 Hyundai Accent

Failure Date: 06/17/2009

06/17/2009 the air bag light came on and stayed on. I called the dealership and made an appointment to have it checked on 06/24/2009. The result is the computer module to the air bags shorted out due to a spill. The service man told me that the part is located under the cup holders where the likelihood of a spill is high and evidently there is no protective covering on the module to keep it dry in the case of a spill. I have contacted the consumer affairs dept. At Hyundai because I was told at the service dept. That the repairs are not covered under the warranty because the part failed due to outside influence and not a defect in the part. I told them that the defect may not be the part but there is a defect in the design by placing an unprotected electronic component beneath an area where the likelihood of a spill is high due to the fact that they designed a cup holder to be placed over this sensitive component. If the warning light would have failed there would be no warning that there was no operational air bags in the vehicle. At this time repairs have not been made and all air bags are non-functional at this time. I was informed that a similar problem occurred in the elantra but was not told what year model.
