Tl the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was unable to restart and was towed back to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15v568000 (engine). The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
My car engine just stopped working on me. My check engine light came on and then my oil light and the car wouldn't turn on. Car was stationary.
Vehicle in motion, less than 40 mph on a city street with a slight incline, less than three miles from home. Vehicle started to operate sluggishly without warning, with lack of power when accelerating. The check engine light started flashing, acceleration severely decreased and was unable to go over 20 mph (car was placed in limp/engine protection mode). I slowly drove the car home and was able to troubleshoot the issue. Connected on obd2 scanner and immediately received a dtc p1326; indicating the knock sensor detection system placed the car in limp mode due to a detected knock/vibration in the motor. Further research proved service campaign 953 (TSB 19-01-002h-1) was already opened in late 2018 to help resolve the p1326 issue and many 2011-2018 Sonatas were recalled to get a software update for the ksds; as an early preventive measure for possible faulty bearings/rods in the motor. I had the vehicle towed to my local Hyundai dealership to get the ksds software update after receiving the p1326 dtc. The service tech said my VIN was not part of a recall or campaign and charged me $173 to update the software and clear limp mode. The Hyundai TSB clearly states this update is free to the customer and applies to all Sonatas from 2011-2018; regardless if the vehicle was not part of the original recall.
I was driving on a city street when the check engine light started flashing. The car started knocking not running well. When I took it to the repair shop they stated I would have to replace the engine because it had seized. The repair shop also stated they had replaced 20 of the same model within the past 12 months. We are currently working with the extended warranty company to see if they will cover it. We have maintained the engine with regular oil changes.
I never had a check engine light on my vehicle but while I was driving in the middle of the road the vehicle engine shut off. I recently got my oil changed. .
Wastegate accuator defective multiple times since engine failure replacement. . But rick case Hyundai wont replace under warranty as it was giving issues when the warranty period was still valid. Possibly damaged at the time of block replacement as I had to return to the dealer 3 times to resolve check engine light and turbo failure.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that there was an abnormal odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the gurley leep Subaru (5302 grape rd, mishawaka, in 46545) where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the fuel line was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 18v934000 (engine, fuel system, gasoline) as a possible solution to the failure however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
My car's check engine light came on and I took it to the shop for diagnosing. The code p1326 came up and nobody can figure out the problem. My car doesn't accelerate properly and take a minute to shift gears and drive properly. There has been open communication on the issue by other people.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at 55 miles per hour there was a flash and the vehicle spontaneously caught fire in the engine compartment. The brake pedal was applied but failed to respond and went to the floor. The emergency brake was applied to stop the vehicle. The check engine light was illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. There were no reported injuries or crash due to the fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed by the ohio county sheriff department under case number 1810104. The vehicle was towed to an unknown tow lot. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company to an inspection location and deemed a total loss. While my car is in motion it does not accelerate properly. A check engine light come on shortly after. The car will rev up to 5000-6000 rpm with very little to no acceleration. Apparently a common issue with the Sonatas with turbos. I was told it's the waste gate actuator for the turbo. When I first experienced this issue I was driving through the mountains and couldn't get up the mountain fast enough so I had to pull over to the shoulder with my hazards. The remainder of the climb over the mountains I was going 20-30 mph (while I'm at 5000 rpm or over).
This is an ongoing problem, the plastic that the tail light bulb is attached to is melting and I have had to replace the tail light casing already recently. Since the replacement, I replaces a bulb and the plastic is starting to look burned again. Two weeks since I replaced that bulb, the light is out again. Everytime I have this problem my check engine light comes on. After a few days it goes off. When I take call the dealer they said if the light goes off they cannot check the problem, this problem started about 3 years after I got this car and now my check engine light is on again and will not go off. The driver side airbag light is alway on since a year ago. No accident. Looks like there are a lot of similar issues with Sonata.
My 2012 Sonata has stopped accelerating and shifting properly. When the gas peddal is pressed, the car revs high and does not upshift properly, resulting in substantial power loss. The check engine light came on days after this began and gave code p2562 for an error in the turbocharger. Further research has shown that this is a common issue on this vehicle relating to the waste valve of the turbocharger. This is a grave safety concern as the car cannot safely merge onto roadways and can lose power randomly at any time, resulting in a rear end collision. This problem has happened numerous times at posted speeds on side roads and on highways. I have contacted the dealer and they claim they have never heard of this issue and must charge me to diagnose before determining it is covered under the powertrain warranty.
My daughter was driving on the highway in the 2nd to left lane about 65 mph, check engine light was on and all of the sudden she lost complete control of the accelerator pedal. She say's she pushed it all the way down to the floor several times, no pressure, no control and obviously slowed down. She moved over to get to the right shoulder to stop and see what is the issue, luckily the brakes worked (hard pedal), but many cars were dodging her trying not to hit her. She didn't get in an accident, but sure close to being in one and high speeds. Frightening to say the least. I has about 87,000 miles on the car. I am still concerned if I put another engine should I worry about this happening again? it could happen again unless it's recalled and the problem fixed! I am just glad she didn't get seriously injured or killed. I am very concerned knowing that this could happen to anyone with the 2011-2015 2. 4l engine. I tried to be proactive therefore I'm posting this complaint for others. I guess it takes collateral damage of people losing life for car companies and the wonderful federal government to take notice. Beware most 2011-2015 hyundae Sonata cars have this problem from what I am told.
I had a minor fender bender ( a person hit me and took off) 1 block later the engine died. It was taken to the shop where I was first told it needed a new battery and a starter. Battery was only 12 months old and starter was not a problem. I had it towed to Hyundai and they told me the engine seized from sludge and water. I I dont even have a sprinkler system for water damage and we are in a drought and the oil was changed a few months ago. I had read about the seized engine issues on this model but Hyundai says that is not true. I pointed out to them that no oil light came on and no check engine light came on. I have had no problems with this car until this happened. They refuse to do any thing about it but are willing to charge me $6700. 00 to replace the engine.
I was driving home from work when all of a sudden my check engine light came on and I started hear noises coming from my engine. I pulled over somewhere safe and eventually had to get it towed to a Hyundai dealer. I'm not the original owner of the call so the dealer tells me I cant used the 100,000 mile warranty. I have another warranty company who wants the dealer ship to come to a final decision as to why my engine stopped working. There was no sludge in my oil pan but there us metal which obliviously means something messed up on the inside. Hyundai is telling me under no circumstance will they further investigate what happened to my vehicle and wynn is telling them they will not pay for my vehicle unless they have the specific reason as to why a engine that only had 86,000 miles stopped working. My husband has a 2007 Honda civic that has 210,000 miles on it and yet my newer car dies out at only 86,000 miles to me this doesn't make any sense and I'm getting the run around on all ends. I don't have 6000 dollars to pay out of pocket expenses that is why I got the warranty in the first place. My engine shouldn't have gone out and with no warning!!!!!! so now I'm stuck without a car, paying a car payment for a car I cant drive, and no way to get back and fourth to work this will cause me to lose my job and not be able to care for my family something has to give.
