1 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2020

I was driving my 2013 Hyundai Sonata on the freeway and no light came on and when I refer to lights I mean(check engine , service needed soon or the oil change soon) none of those lights came on and the car sent a signal to pull over and turn off the car I pulled over and stopped the car the car won't turn on. Car max didn't want to do anything for me because they said it was an oil leak and went I took it to Hyundai they said the o ring to the oil cooler was lose and that couldn't be cause by wear and tear that the part wasn't put on right and it cause the oil to leak and my engine to seize. The repair is $10,000 and the price for the car was $12,000.

2 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2020

My vehicle only has over 150,000 miles on it and I kept up my maintenance. My engine has seized more than once. My vehicle never let me know I was on empty, my dashboard showed me I had 3 lines of fuel but it would not start until I put gas. While I was driving my engine seized, I checked my oil and I had zero fuel, this was a month after my oil change. The second time my engine seized I was turning on a city street and I had to pull over because my engine seized again. For some reason, my fuel just disappears with no visible leaks.

3 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2020

I was driving to work and about to turn into the parking lot and I came to a stop at the median and the car died. I went to turn on the car and dash and radio came on but engine did not turn over. I attempted two more times and smoke started to come out. There were no alerts of check engine or oil at any point. Last oil change was only a month or so overdue as I had not driven for a month at all due to working from home. No oil l leaks in driveway.

4 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2018

After a service recall to remove metal shavings from the engine in March of 2018, we purchased a new primary vehicle and this vehicle was used sparingly. We have driven this car no more than 3k miles since the recall, and after driving it a on a thousand mile round trip to visit family in November I began hearing engine knocking and the engine stalled on me several times. Based on the most recent recall for 2013 Hyundai Sonatas which is some software update that is supposed to detect engine knocking, it appears a bearing has failed in the engine, either as a result of or in spite of the service performed last year. My fuel economy in the car has plummeted, presumably as a result of a blown cylinder, and oil now leaks from parts unknown. Upon contacting Hyundai's customer care center it seems this engine failure is not covered by any recall, even though it is quite obvious this is a common problem based on researching complaints here. My wife had her car serviced religiously, and I have a 1998 truck that has more miles and less engine problem than this car has had. We are leaving this car parked in the driveway because it is unsafe to travel on the streets, and Hyundai will not tow it to the closest dealership. Based on the sheer number of complaints that are similar, Hyundai should be required to fix any engines that have failed or seized as a result of faulty bearings.

5 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2018

I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata with turbo. In 2017 I started having issues with engine knocking. Took the car to Hyundai, they said the engine needed to be replaced. After almost 3 months, I got the car back. It ran well for months, no problems. However, in March of 2018 we started having problems again. I have taken the car back to the dealership at least 6 times with oil leaks, issues with the turbo, all of which go back to the engine issues. After several times of bringing the car back and forth to the dealership, and after several times of them "fixing" the problem, we still have the same issues. They replaced the turbo feed pipe, they fixed the turbo oil line and the turbo return pipe, and we are still having bad oil leaks. The last time we brought it in, I don't think they even fixed anything, the service manager just called and told me the transmission was going bad and he could set me up with a salesperson. Here it is three weeks later, the engine has died (blown piston rod). My son was driving the car at night and it just died on him in the middle of the highway. Thank god it wasn't busy at the time and he was able to get it to the side of the road.

6 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2018

Engine recall Hyundai determine that I was losing 0ne quart per thousand miles which is the result of metal debris from crankshaft scratching the cylinder walls of engine causing the oil to leak out of the exhaust pipe to road. The company will not fix this issue. I am afraid one day the engine will catch on fire or complete engine failure going down the road losing all power to control the car in which an accident will occur .

7 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2018

Looses oil, about 4quarts every 3000 miles, does not burn or leak! just disappeared car has 116730 miles.

8 Engine Oil Leaking problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2015

My vehicle has been an issue since I purchased it. I have taken it in five times for the same issue with the sunroof leaking and damaging the interior of the vehicle. I have also taken it in for replacement of cv joints twice and as of yesterday for the third time with no resolution. When I dropped off my vehicle it was fine with no lights, no oil change light on or anything, but they called to let me know I had sludge in my engine and it is going to lock up on me. My bumper to bumper warranty will not cover it so I will need to pay out of pocket to fix the issue on a brand new car . I have also had to change my tires on the car at least eight times in the last 3 years. I purchased a warranty for tires and rims, but as usual they have loop holes. They promised I can change my rims if I had any scratches, but when I tried to change them, they have denied my request for three years. It is frustrating to know that what they promise is a lie.
