I started my car the morning of 7/3/2020 and when I started it I heard a little rattling noise that sounded like it was coming from the front tire. After driving home from work it got worse and I heard the rattling knocking noise every time I accelerated. It eventually got so loud and bad I had to park the car. It continues to turn on but the engine is knocking when I looked under the hood. My car has had a recent oil change so I don't know what could cause this issue. Please help!!!.
Engine failed: loud noise, rattling sound, inability to accelerate beyond 45mph. Two shops we took it to diagnosed as engine failed, replace engine . . . Based on compression test, stethoscope to engine, etc. The car was being driven on a highway, when the noise started, lack of acceleration was felt, driver pulled off the highway, and drove slowly up to a nearby parking lot. We actually drove 12 miles on city streets to a mechanic shop we knew who gave the first diagnosis.

The dealer noticed that the alternator was replaced the previous year and stated that there should not be any failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the rattling sound remained. The manufacturer was not contacted. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 73,770.
