1 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2018 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 03/06/2018

Throttle response: feels like the old vehicles with a flat spot in the carburetor accelerator pump. The "three second' rule applies when the throttle petal is pushed. There is a serious hesitation as the engine tends to fall flat before accelerating. Has to due with the six speed automatic transmissions duel clutch which acts as if a person were operating a standard transmission clutch. I have discussed this problem/concern several times with the service department where the vehicle was purchased. The service department indicated they receive numerous complaints. It is indicated the drivers either love the vehicle with this problem or hate. We were never told of this situation. And there is no fix for this. This situation can occur when leaving a stopped position, when turning right or left from a stopped position, accelerating up a hill in moving traffic or on a street. This all depends on the drivers reaction to the throttle pedal. When one needs to accelerate while in motion there tends to be a shuddering/stuttering of the engine. This problem has occurred shortly we purchased the vehicle in February 2018 and has been on going. I set the "when did this happen" as starting date. Can be vary concerning when entering traffic for older drivers. I cannot find any more descriptions for this situation. There are no documents at my disposal at this time. Thank you.

2 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2009 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/14/2012

This is a stick shift car. When pressing the clutch pedal, you can feel that the clutch is not working properly because it is too soft when you press it. You need to pump several times to be able to make it work. Apparently happens more often when the weather is really hot. Brought it to the dealer several times. Could not find anything wrong since the weather at the time of checking was not hot.

3 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2009 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 05/08/2012

While driving my wife's 2009 Sonata the clutch became stuck to the floor. I had to use my foot to pull the clutch back up to the normal operating height in order to change gears. I was almost rear ended as the person behind me expected acceleration at the time but I was slowing down due to the inability to switch gears in a timely manner. This has happened at least a dozen times. The transmission also does not function properly during this problem and is at times nearly impossible to get into gear requiring me to depress the clutch several times before it goes into gear properly. Had it to the dealership and they could not duplicate the problem therefore they claim nothing is wrong. They lubricated the linkage and said that was all they could do. I have discussed this with reputable shops in the area and they claim it is certainly a problem with the drive train, but Hyundai will not fix this. This is definitely a safety hazard my wife transports both of my children daily in this vehicle.

4 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2010 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 06/08/2010

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the clutch pedal would go to floor and become stuck, causing the vehicle to become resistant when changing gears. The contact stated that the dealer was scheduled to replace the master cylinder for the fourth time of the vehicle. The dealer had not given the contact a reason for the consistent failure. The failure mileage was 8,000 and the current mileage was 67,000. Kmj.

5 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2009 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 05/14/2010

The clutch on my 5 speed 2009 Hyundai Sonata is sporadically dropping to the floor and not allowing me to change gears. I was nearly hit from behind, as the car behind me assumed I'd be accelerating, but when the clutch drops (without much resistance) the linkage locks and I can't change gears. I took it to the dealer today, and he said they had no problem with it, but the after-market floor mat was causing the clutch pedal to get caught. I removed the floor mat when I went to pick-up my car (service department was closed for the day), and, in their parking lot, going from 1st to 2nd gear, the clutch pedal dropped to the floor and I could not change gears, until I hit the clutch a few more times! I went inside to complain to the sales staff. They said I had to bring it in tomorrow. Apparently, Hyundai is having lots of problems with their clutches, but they refuse to fix it, because it is costly to take apart the transmission to see what is wrong. We bought the car because of the 10-year power-train warranty! this is dangerous and is an accident waiting to happen!.

6 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2009 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 05/07/2010

Clutch pedal sticks to floor. Very scary. It has happened 6 times. And have taken to dealer. They say all is fine. I could not stop my car. I was lucky there was not anyone in front of me when it happened. My car is a 5 speed mal. I see others with the same problem.

7 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2010 Hyundai Sonata

Failure Date: 03/18/2010

The manual transmission in my 2010 Hyundai Sonata has been having abnormal issues since my date of purchase. First it was just stalling when disengaging the clutch from reverse and first gear; now it is primarily from first gear. To get the car to move forward you must drag the clutch and push the accelerator causing an odd clacking noise in the front of the car, or sometimes it has a squealing or rubbing sound and the car does not move forward and there is a burning smell. Today, when shifting from first gear to second gear, the car lunged forward as though it was accelerating on it's own and I was barely touching the gas pedal. I have taken it to the dealer twice with complaints of the abnormal performance, the first time at 809 miles, and the second time at 1794 miles , and they said they have not been able to duplicate the complaint.
