As I was backing into a parking space, the steering wheel locked up, I couldn't turn the steering wheel in either direction and the steering wheel light with the exclamation mark came on.

This morning while leaving for work on a city street, my steering wheel locked, and the steering indicator light along with the traction control light came on. At the time, I was driving approximately 15 mph, and I was in the process of turning. After reviewing similar instances online, it is apparent that this is a common issue with these vehicles. This is extremely dangerous, and could be deadly. It's unacceptable that a recall has not been issued. I called Hyundai customer service, and was advised that since the vehicle is out of warranty my only option is to bring it to the dealer and pay for an inspection and repairs myself. This is a manufactures safety issue, and it needs a recall. I called the dealer and was advised that I can bring the car in and pay for an inspection, but they would probably need to duplicate the problem. Why has nothing been done about this?? is Hyundai waiting for people to be severely injured or even killed?.

As I was driving yesterday. A steering wheel light which an explanation point next to it popped up and then as soon as it did my steering wheel got hard and would not turn. Thankfully I was on a small road and able to drive off to the side safely or else who knows I could of been on a bridge and flew off due to not being able to turn the steering wheel at all! I would hope this could be fixed as a recall seeming as it has happened to many people.

The contact pulled over and the vehicle regained power steering functionality however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the power steering warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was first towed to the residence and then towed to Hyundai inland empire (25072 redlands boulevard, loma linda, CA 92354, (909)-796-1600) to be diagnosed. The dealer performed a diagnostic test that located a failure code at the power steering. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 135,000.

When turned the vehicle on, the power steering light came on and the power steering had stopped working.

This is the fourth time I've experienced this while operating my vehicle. On September 12 , 2020 while operating my vehicle on a city street my steering light popped on along with my traction control light. My steering wheel immediate locked up and I had no control . I struggled to veer the vehicle into a gas station. Upon pulling into the gas station I turned my vehicle off and started it back up and the steering light and traction control light was off so I preceded to drive.

Driving from work my car steering seized up. The power steering light and traction control lights came on. Then I shut car off and restarted it. Then power steering was back and indicator light were gone. It happen multiple of times.

The contact stated that the power steering assist warning light and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence and was later taken to coggin deland Ford located at (2655 n volusia Ave, orange city, FL 32763) where it was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The technician reset the computer and provided an estimate for the steering gear repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

After start car, power steering warning lights on. Did not realized until backing up from parking lot. Steering lost power and very hard to manage. After 1-2 min of try to park again manually, steering back to normal. It happens 2 times within 3 weeks.

In parking lot my steering seized up. The power steering light and traction control lights came on. Then I shut car off and restarted it. Then power steering was back and indicator light were gone some time I have to leave my car park long to fix it automatically.

This incident has even caused damage to the right front corner of my Hyundai due to losing steering causing me to veer in to the guard rails.

On 01/16/2020 as I was leaving work parking lot my steering seized up. The power steering light and traction control lights came on. It took about 1 minute to get steering wheel to move at all, managed to get back in parking lot (barely) and shut car off and restarted it. My power steering was back and indicator light were gone. I'm going to dealership tomorrow. ( will update) had this happened at a normal speed for diving, it would have been very dangerous! now, I am afraid to drive my only car.

There have been several instances when I have been driving and steering would make a clicking not and then it would get tight and the steering light would come along with serial other lights and I would have to turn my car off and then turn it back. Luckily I was driving at a low speed. I have taken my care to the Hyundai dealership and they were not able repair it because they could not repeat the problem I was told take the next time it occurred. As of yesterday 11/25/2020 my steering my car to the left has become extremely difficult.

Steering locks up while driving. Steering makes a clunky noise and vibration when turning to the left. Steering warning light and traction control light comes on and goes off intermittently. Took it to dealership and they couldn't duplicate the issue.

I'm putting this here in case I die in this car! also the engine hesitates and shakes violently when starting. The shaking is when it ideals, but on the interstate when you press the gas it "pulses" and hesitate while accelerating (I hardly get a chance to test to see how bad the hesitation is because the steering is so lose) I am now finding out the 2015 Sonata engine is effected by the massive defect they have had in 2011- 2014 models but are not making it publicly known. One would think with all the steering and engine problems Hyundai has had in the past Sonata's they would take this serious. All they do is blame customers, if you call their customer support line they will tell you they closed your case in less than a day without looking at the car. I hope the government gets this company under control for consumers sake and safety sake.

Steering wheel makes clicking sound when I turn steering wheel even very slightly plus going over bumps it makes rattling sounds. Clicks in steering wheel happen when its standing still or moving as well.

I have noticed excess click in the steering column when turning or riding over bumps in the road. In addition, the steering wheel gives a slight resistance when the noise is present. This happens when the vehicle is in motion and when maneuvering the wheel when parking. The problem has been persistent since June of 2017.

I heard a light knocking noise when turning steering slightly to the left and right when car was stationary or moving. Light clunk each side. My mechanic disassembled the steering column and removed s fully worn down steering coupler.

Loose steering shaft. Steering wheel I s slightly loose and being refused warranty on this part in dealership. As I have exteded warranty.

While sitting still, when steering wheel is slightly turned to one side or the other, there is a loud clicking/popping noise. This also happens when turning while driving. When driving and hitting a slight bump, the clicking/popping is so bad that it sounds like the steering wheel is going to break into pieces. There is also some "play" in the steering wheel.

Car suddenly developed loud clicking noise when turning the steering wheel slightly or going over bumpy road. Steering also feels very loose; has a lot of play in it. I took the car to sterling mccall Hyundai dealership in houston, texas this morning. Service department says it's part number 56315-2k000-fff that needs to be replaced however Hyundai has a long back order for that part, and they're unsure when they will receive it. I asked the service department if the car was ok to drive because I felt it was a dangerous issue. The service advisor said he checked with his manager and the car was perfectly safe to drive until the part came. In. So I'm driving the car but the steering doesn't feel right.

The steering wheel has a slight catch when turning. I was told by the dealer that they could fix it but it was going to cost me. I do a lot of highway miles so there shouldn't be any reason to have steering problems after only 3 years. I had the front stabilizer arm fixed twice due to noise on the front end, was not covered because they said I ran over something, which I did not. They didn't fix right the first time so had to pay again to get the other side fixed.

Steering wheel is slightly cocked to the right and very sensitive. When driving the vehicle does not want to steer straight. Darts one way and then another. Dealer re-calibrated steering and alignment. Although steering wheel problem is fixed it remains very sensitive and still veers one way then another. Especially noticeable at higher speeds.

Steering feel is extremely light/loose, especially at highway speeds. Vehicle wanders enough from left to right to require constant correction to keep it from going over center line or off side of road. If I adjust steering to left vehicle continues to left requiring an immediate adjustment to right which causes vehicle to continue to right and then to left and then right. . . I am constantly fighting with the steering to stay in my lane. Concerned about our safety while driving this brand new vehicle.

Service campaign 927 confirmed left pull completed straight trak installed struts. Alignment. Update eps. Still pulls left on crowned roads. Steering light and wanders at highway speeds. Called dealer and was told "it is in spec and to contact Hyundai consumer affairs". They will not fix. It is now worse than before they tried to fix. I have contacted Hyundai consumer affairs two times with no response.

Purchased 2012 Hyundai Sonata in December of 2011. Steering feel is extremely light/loose, especially at highway speeds. Car wants to wander from side to side and constant incremental steering adjustments are needed by the driver to keep the vehicle tracking straight. Creates a danger if over-steer is applied by driver during an adjustment in an effort to keep car straight. Have heard that many owners are having the same problem.

2012 Sonata ltd 2. 0t - steering is difficult to control at random times and at various speeds. However, it is especially noticeable at highway speeds. Car pulls in both directions but mainly left. Must keep steering wheel turned slightly to the right most of the time to keep the car straight at highway speeds.

The car pulls to the left and the steering is slightly tilted left in normal driving position. Also have to apply a constant force to keep the car straight. At high speeds the steering feels free.

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata veers to the right. I have to keep mor pressue on the left side of the steering wheel inorder to keep the car straight. I have taken the car three times to the dealership but the problem has not be fixed. I have been told that the car steering goes slightly to the right but was not guarnateed that it could be fixed.
